Do any of you have recommendations for an inexpensive hotel (less than $150 a night) in Ocean City, MD? I don't mind if it's along the bay, but I'd like it to be within walking distance of the boardwalk.

I found a few in our price range, but I'd love to hear anyone's comments or experiences with them -- Rodeway Boardwalk (we can't afford ocean front, but would have to take parking lot view), Harrison Hall, or Beach Walk hotel. Harrison Hall is right on the boardwalk, and Beach Walk hotel is just a building off the boardwalk.

Many years ago, I stayed at the Islander, and it wasn't too bad. How is it now?

I would be really afraid to stay at a hotel down there that only charges less than $150/night in-season. There are alot of crappy hotels down there. I just had to change my reservations last minute and couldn't find anything decent for a decent price. Most nice rooms are about $300/night right now. I ended up finding a condo for about $250/night. It seemed to be the better way to go.

Be very careful about renting something you haven't seen or don't have reviews on. I booked the Quality Inn Oceanfront 2yrs ago b/c it looked nice on the internet. Oceanfront, cheaper than most places, and it's a Quality Inn so how bad can it be? We got there and I almost cried. I was NOT letting my kids stay in a place like that. It was awful. Moldy, run-down, falling apart. I cancelled my reservations and headed back to Rehoboth Beach.

Have you checked out the reviews on tripadvisor?

I know you said you prefer to be within walking distance of the boardwalk, but if you really want a lower priced place, how about the Holiday Inn Express? It's not near the boardwalk (but you can always take the bus) and it's bayside.

I guess I'll have to raise my standard to $250 a night!

Yikes, that sounds bad. I looked at tripadvisor and the reviews for both places were kind of mixed. Harrison Hall -- some people loved it and some hated it. Some said the rooms were great, and some said they were gawdawful. :confused3

The only thing not to like about the Beach Walk is it doesn't have its own pool and the parking is a couple of blocks away. But it's so close to the boardwalk.

I have stayed at the Harrison Hall. It is an older hotel. The rooms are okay. It is located on the boardwalk at 15th street. We prefer to stay closer to the inlet where the boardwalk is busier. I would recommend the Atlantic Hotel: http://www.atlantichotelocmd.com/ We just stayed there in June. The rooms we had were very nice. The only thing that we missed was having a refrigerator in the room. We took a 5-day cooler along. They have a really nice pool and sundeck. They have plenty of free parking beside the hotel. Their rates are also reasonable considering their location.

We've stayed at just about all the small places up and down the Boards and Yes some are really Dumps for the money but latley we found Confort Inn boardwalk are real nice deal and have stayed there our last few times down.

I think you can order a visitors guide from WWW.OCOCEAN.com and it has a bunch of info.

thanks for the info and the links!

We are going to ry to plan somethign quick for next month...
