OC Register news article talking about the rest of 2016 schedule at the DLR

What the hell in a hand basket?!? Why does that say that the new world of color is starting November 18th?! Has that been officially released??? I booked the dessert party BECAUSE of the new show on the 14th. If this is another disappointment, I'm going to just give up and cry. Like seriously....

Uuugh! Guess this explains why WOC was not showing on the entertainment schedule yet?? So their kickoff for their holidays is the 10th yet some major components dont start until the next weekend?!? Makes no sense. Trying to not get upset yet but geesh!!!

Paint the Night was bad enough, but if they don't start WOC until the 18th, I'll be really upset....

Alas, this has been the case for years, they always state that some offerings will only be offered on selected days (read into that Peak Times), and of course, everything they mention is always subject to change.

Also, many CM's attend college/university or similar things, and have limited hours to work. Holiday periods they can work a lot more, but the weeks before Christmas and in early December, they have classes and some have finals. So how do you staff the park, WOC needs a lot of CM's for crowd control.

Well WOC is happening regardless, it just means which show is playing. I imagine staffing is the same either way. I re-read the original Disney blog announcement about the new WOC and if it doesn't start on the 10th, I'll raise a stink because it absolutely leads one to believe the WOC will start with the beginning of the holiday. Paint the night was always unclear so I have little room to complain there.
On a more positive note, WOC is on the entertainment until the 9th where it drops off on the 10th - this leads me to believe the new one will start then :-)

Well, World of Color is supposedly easily changed over, but you still need a test and adjust period for the needed changes. I think it might happen, but as with everything at Disney, nothing is ever promised and subject to change. Also would be a good time to do some needed maintenance during a slow period before peak Holiday time.

And yes, I am doing a bit of Devil's Advocate, but then again, as someone with a rich knowledge of Disneyland history, can easily happen.

As they say, don't count your chickens until they hatch...

Alas, at Disney, even if they do hatch, they can come and take them away from you with no rhyme or reason.

Sorry to have to be the one topoint that out.

And FYI, the reporter that wrote the article is a former WDI employee of 21 years, and then 5 years working for other Theme Park Companies before becoming a reporter in 1997. So he has a lot of connections.

I hear what you're saying but I booked the dessert party - so some kind of world of color is happening on the 14th. My hope is that Disney is going to follow through with what they said. I just did the WOC dessert party this month - and I wouldn't have booked this one if it was going to be the same show.

There's just been a few disappointing things - first the PTN not showing up - even though it IS the "holiday season" and even though it IS a busy 3 day weekend. Then I discover the holiday tour I booked doesn't include the rides this year, then when I called to cancel, they said said it was non refundable (no one ever told me that). I called and booked the WOC dessert with a CM. I'm pretty sure I made a comment about how excited I was that it was going to be a new show. If it turns out it's not, I think that's a bummer move on their part.

What?

I just changed my WOC dessert party reservation from the 19th to the 17th to keep as many options open for PTN viewing as possible.

Why on earth would I have ever expected the new version to start on the 18th? It sounds like they have sort of changed their minds on when to start the holiday season. And I'm sorry but once you announce something and people make plans, you need to stick with it! I should go check that holiday blog announcement and see if they scrubbed it yet.

The article says the same thing about the fireworks, which the fireworks are clearly starting on the 10th, so I think we're good.

I hope so! But I do think it's still strange that while they are selling spots for the dessert party, they still don't have WOC listed on the entertainment schedule past the 9th. That's just barely 2 weeks out.

I just spoke with a CM in parks information and she said everything between Nov 10 - Jan 8 should be the holiday versions.
