Obstructed Lagoon View

I have a lagoon-view room booked at the Grand Floridian, and am concerned about the number of large trees in between the buildings and the water. Since I am paying extra for that option, if our balcony faces directly into a tree, would I be justified in asking to be moved to a clearer view? TIA

You can certainly ask, but there is no guarantee they would have any rooms available to move you to. Perhaps place an "unobstructed view of lagoon" request on your reservation. It's just a request, but at least the room assigner would know what kind of view you would prefer. We stayed in a 4th floor, Boca Chica lagoon view room a few years ago and, while there were trees in view, none of them directly blocked our view.

Our last stay there, we had LV in Boca Chica and there was trees, but nicely spread apart, in front of our balcony, BUT if we looked to the left we saw the castle and when we looked to the right we saw POLY. It did block out most of CR, but no big deal. LV, does not guarantee a 100% unobstructed view, but you can always "request" a different room. I would definitely add that on your reservation.

I honestly had never even thought to be concerned about this. Looking at Google Maps does show quite a few trees on the south line but the chance of a completely obstructed view still seems remote. It would be my luck that I would complain about a tree hogging up a third of my view and then get moved two doors down to a room with no trees and a perfect view of the wedding gazebo thing.

Also my GV room last time was a lagoon view tree view. Which means the bad ones they know about.

In my opinion/experience, one thing Disney is pretty good at is classifying room view categories at places like Poly and GF on a room-by-room basis based on exact conditions. If it’s a LV room, you’re generally going to be able to see more than just a sliver of water. A room that is mostly a tree/plant view ‘should’ be classified as GV by Disney.

We've never had our lagoon view obstructed by trees but you might also have a better chance of ensuring that if you request a higher floor. You're more likely to be able to see over/through if there are lots of trees. Or request a particular building where there are fewer trees. We usually do lagoon view at Conch Key which is fairly close to the water so fewer trees or at least that's what I remember. We also like it because it's close to the boat launch which we find more convenient to take back from MK.
