Michael Bloomberg is introducing OBAMA for a 9:15am economic speech.... you can stream it via CNN if interested.

Now Bloomberg would be a way interesting choice for vice president and a slam dunk for the general election!! Talk about "real world" experience!

I don't think he's popular in NY, I'm not sure on that, but fairly sure.

He is not endorsing Obama, but he wants to hear from each candidate....

Mayor Bloomberg was my mayor. I just moved to Florida from the Upper West Side (AKA Liberal Heaven) of Manhattan about a year and a half ago and sold our apartment just recently. He's definitely popular enough...

Good to hear, MSNBC is running the speech... he can definitely give a very good speech, good to hear someone who can articulate a thought that is clear, truthful and intelligent. Something sorely lacking these days.

My personal "Dream Ticket": Obama / Powell. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, I don't think Gen. Powell would accept the offer, because of what the scum currently in the white house did to him in his last foray into national politics. However, he might be persuaded to accept a Secretary of Defense post, and I'd be happy with that.

I have no idea who Obama will end up choosing as a running mate, but I'm pretty certain it will not be Shrillary.

Oh Brother :rolleyes1 CNN is reporting Clinton will be following along the lines of the 3am phone call for the economy.... Uh, okay, well, we know how you do with sleep deprivation.....

But don't worry she's convinced she's "going to win it", umm, okay, not with my vote, sorry...

This is hilarious regarding John McCain and his teleprompter issues LOL... He has no idea what he's talking about....

Just a heads up, there is a new thread about Pastor Wright by one of the gleefull ones. I suggest we all ignore it. Doesn't matter how often you say it's the pastors words not Obamas, they just don't get it. Perhaps I will try that ignore feature.

Thanks for the heads up...and I recognize the name. Not exactly a happy face person.:rotfl:

I saw McCain give the housing speech, he has not improved. I just can't wait to see him head to head with Obama, he's toast.

Are all of Hillary's people like Carville? Has no one told her the consequences of her actions? I think she really is living in her own reality and it is far removed from the real world.

That person's already on my ignore feature LOL.... It's easier not to respond when about a dozen of them are on your ignore feature. The ignorance is just bliss on their part so it really doesn't matter what logic you put forward, in their world it doesn't matter.

Marybet, ANY debate between Obama & McCain would be almost PAINFULLY embarrassing (for McCain)

wvrevy, I agree, my personal dream ticket would be Obama/Powell, but he's not interested & I can't blame him... plus about 50% of American's wouldn't go for it I imagine...

Oh I'm not even going to bother reading or responding to the new Wright thread. People have their minds made up already. They are just looking to stir the pot and get the story back to the front pages. ZZZZZZZZZ

It's always good to avoid political threads started by folks who not only comment on candidates and politics, but also start Jason Castro is HOT!!!! threads. (How old is he, anyway, 19 or 20? That's a little creepy..)
Yea, there's some deep think going on there....:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:lmao:

Clinton exaggerating on Family Leave Act?
From Dkos:

As First Lady, she helped pass the Family and Medical Leave Act [...]

Actually, Hillary had been First Lady for 16 days when the bill passed. And while her White House schedule shows plenty of meetings on NAFTA, none dealt with the FMLA.

You know who "helped pass" the family leave act? Chris Dodd.

1986 Senator Chris Dodd introduced the Parental and Medical Leave Act on April 9, 1986, to provide job security and health insurance protection to working parents who must take leave to care for family members (newborn or adopted child; seriously ill child, spouse or elderly parent).

1987-98 Reintroduced the Parental and Medical Leave Act. The bill was brought to the Senate floor in October 1988, but was later shelved in the face of a Republican filibuster and a veto threat from President Reagan.

1989-90 Reintroduced as the Family and Medical Leave Act on February 2, 1989 and August 3, 1990. The measure passed the Senate unanimously on June 14, 1990, but was vetoed by President Bush on June 29, 1990. The House failed to override the veto on July 25, 1990.

1991-92 Reintroduced the Family and Medical Leave Act on January 24, 1991. The bill passed the Senate by a two-thirds vote of 65-32 on October 2, 1991.

1993 The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 passed both houses and was the first bill signed into law by President Clinton. FMLA provides job security for millions of Americans by providing up to 12 weeks unpaid leave per year to care for a family member.

That's seven years of fighting to make the FMLA a reality. Yet Clinton, a First Lady for 16 days, says:

As First Lady, she helped pass the Family and Medical Leave Act

Hey, I can't fault CR there since I start some threads like that too. :) I think they call them 'fluff' threads?

CR and I definitely disagree on politics but I find her funny in her other threads. I also don't think its okay to say there isn't deep thinking going on there because we disagree with her politically and she happens to start the 'fluff/light' threads too. Even if I think the wright threads are sooooo over the top! ;)

Drudge has a story about Hillary's fundraiser led by Elton John. It's hard to believe her cadre didn't consider the legality of a foreign national helping to funnel a ton of cash to her...but hey what do I know. Will be interesting to see what the FEC decides.
