I feel so sorry for some of you. Your HATE for the POTUS is so deep, a thread about his offbeat silly comment produced almost 300 posts and 20 pages. Some of you appear to be so unhappy. I hope there is something in your lives that makes you smile and brings joy in your home. This sitting behind a PC/laptop with all these negative posts/threads all the time can't be mentally healthy.

Just in case you didn't know the disboards has some wonderful picture threads, resort threads, Budget suggestions, Family stuff and even a great food porn thread. The disboards has so much to offer.

Yep. The DIS is great! :disrocks: So many different forums. Something for everyone.

It also has a very active Community Board where we can can discuss non Disney topics. Like we're doing right now. :thumbsup2 If you do not like these threads do not visit them. It's pretty simple.

Have a magical day pixiedust:

Some of us like the political topics, but its hard to have a good and intelligent debate when people are just so hateful.

I have to agree with her...I mean life would suck if I just sat around every day digging up "terrible" things about people, especially the President. Think about it if the shoe were on the other foot? I am sure the McCain supporters would be just as pissed if he were President and people were doing this.

I mean comments in regards to the economy and that this is where Obama wants us to be in order to implement his Communist regime? :sad2: Its sad, really.

Uncle Remus, with all due respect, our POTUS shouldn't need a li'l guidance. He is the one who we should be looking to for it.

of the people, by the people, and for the people

What was I thinkin'? :headache:

I disagree. There are plenty of replies in this thread made by Obama supporters who agree that the line was unfortunate. What are we supposed to do, storm the Castle? He appologized to the head of the Special Olympics before the show even aired. I don't feel the need for more bloodletting.

I'm willing to bet if it were someone with an (R) after their name who said this you'd be singing a different tune. They'd bleed him or her dry. I haven't seen Obama hammered, I've merely seen it mentioned."It'll be forgotten by Monday, I can assure you.

FTR, I think a mention is all that is necessary here but when I think of the outrage that has come from the left over similar comments made by people on the right while this is called "unfortunate," I get steamed. It's so onesided, it drives me nuts.

I don't have a problem with President Obama saying something stupid by mistake every once in a while. I'm as sick of this PC crap as anyone, I'd like to see the world lighten up a bit. However, what I do have a problem with is his getting a complete pass on it while President Bush, Sarah Palin, and other GOP get hammered for every little slip.

Obama (and Biden!) can say whatever stupid thing he wants and it's all in good fun but republicans better watch their mouths. The hypocrisy is unbelievable.

I don't know what discussion board you've been on, but here on the DIS, Obama and Biden get hammered pretty regularily. Mostly by the same folks who excused every gaffe, faux pas, and misrepresentation of former president Bush. WMDs, the supposed reasons for starting the Iraq War, and let's not forget "Mission Accomplished". Those were some doozies. I am sure I could dig up lots of old threads excusing those.

Where were you the last 8 years? Talk about hate.

So he let his mouth run off without pausing to think about what was forming in his head. :sad2:

My goodness now he are so full of hate and have nothing to smile about because we think the POTUS shouldn't have made fun of the abilities of those who are in The Special Olympics. Yup, you found us out we are so so so hateful.
Its funny if my child ever said anything like that I would have told them they know better and how its not very nice. I guess if I think the same of the Pres I apparently hate him :confused3

YOu know the great thing about a public internet message board is that you can choose what topics to discuss and one's that you don't want to. If the conversation continues and you don't feel it should or you don't want to participate anymore, well BUH-BYE :hippie:

OT:
44 days til my bro 'n I are eatin' on the DxDP. :dance3:

OT...I'm taking my special brother in October for his 40th birthday!! Seeing the "World" through his eyes is pretty neat.

It just dawned on me. You're going to be there on my birthday!! Lucky you!! Wish I was there.:goodvibes

You seem to conveniently keep ignoring the fact that Obama didn't make fun of the abilities of those who are in The Special Olympics....he was making fun of himself. He used a poor choice of words to do it, which he has acknowledged and apologized for, personally, to the head of the Special Olympic committee. The apology was graciously accepted. What more do you want?

Sorry, but Obama's actions or comments won't get the Special Olympians maimed or killed.

GWB's flippant "humor" about the WMD, however, insulted the thousands of American families whose son, daughter, husband, wife, sister, brother died in Iraq, the tens of thousands of Americans whose relatives are now dealing with PTSD from being in Iraq as well as the tens of thousands of Americans who won't have arms, legs, sight, hearing, etc. for the rest of their lives because they were "fighting for Iraqi freedom" after being told they were "getting Saddam" after being told they were "going after WMDs".

So go ahead and get all righteously indignant about a casual remark said flippantly with no intent to harm anyone. He was being self-depreciatory about himself, but I guess that's a little to subtle for those who live to be righteously outraged and/or indignant. I see it for what it really is:

Just another reason for the Obama haters to go off on Obama. SSDD. Big deal.

SSDD is right. I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that if George Bush made this same remark, you would be at the head of the line screaming for his head. You can deny it and I won't call you a liar, but I won't believe you.

The way I see it Obama's got about four to eight years to catch up with all the stupid things Bush has said before I start worrying about his glibness insulting the wrong people.

I doubt Obama would be sitting in a classroom full of children while the continental United States was being attacked. I'm sure his first reaction would be to get it in gear and get himself away from those children because he'd know he was a target which would make them collateral damage. Even my nephew knows that (he's 10).

But we come from a long line of smart people. ;) GW probably thought he was safe in a school because there were teachers around to protect everyone.

For someone so smart, that's an incredibly stupid thing to say.

No, I'm not ignoring anything, but you can continue too.

He bowled a 129, the president said.

"That's very good, Mr. President," Leno said sarcastically.

It's "like the Special Olympics or something," the president said.
Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton told reporters traveling with Obama that the president's offhand remark was not meant to disparage the Special Olympics, only to poke some fun at the commander in chief's bowling skills.

hhmm, so he thinks his bowling skills are like the Special Olympics, or something. Sounds alot like making fun of them to me.
