Oasis of the seas coming to Port Canaveral

There were alot of characters...

But "magical experience"?

I dunnu...the differences between Disney and royal Caribbean were not that pronounced...

Disney has a little better decor...
Little better shopping...
Little better theaters/shows...
Better kids area...
Better pools...

Once again...probably "better"...but I don't think the aggregate is that big of a difference.

They only have 4 ships and they and they have the "D" and the allure of siphoning customers off their parks business...

There's your price...it's really not the cruise itself.

I do like castaway alot...food was nasty...but the island can't be beat

This is great news. We have wanted to go on one of the Oasis class ships for awhile now. It's much easier to drive down to Port Canaveral from Atlanta than to Fort Lauderdale. I'll be curious to see what the pricing structure is once they are available. While Disney cruises may be great and all, they are much more expensive than comparable RCCL cruises. At this point, I just cannot justify that price difference for the Disney name.

I know a number of people that have done cruises on other lines and Disney, and rave about Disney being fantastic. But that is partly because they love Disney. So they are getting a high quality cruise as good if not better than any cruise line AND Disney magic. It apparently is worth it. I even asked about price, and they all say, it was worth it. Some won't go on any other cruise line anymore because... they aren't Disney. Seems pretty clear to me!

I think you identified and answered the question all in one shot there...

I agree, you hit the nail on the head..........Folks love DCL and are willing to pay extra for the high quality Disney cruise experience, magic and pixie dust.

We cruised on Oasis of the Seas four years ago, and I have to say we will never cruise on it again. It was a beautiful ship and something we were glad we did once, but it was way too big. We've also cruised on the Disney Dream and it, too, was a beautiful boat although way more expensive than RCL. Anything for grandchildren though! :)
