Oak Trail Golf Course from Poly

We are staying at the Polynesian in February and my husband wanted to take my son to play the nine hole course at Oak Trail. We will not have a rental car during the visit. I read that this course is near the Poly - would they be able to walk there (my son is 5)? If not, any suggestions as to the transportation to get there? Thanks!!

Yes it can be walked, I would put it at about 15 minutes. Oak Trail is right across the street from the Poly at the Shades of Green resort, but the courses set a bit off the road. I walked it when I was a kid lugging a golf bag and all, and made it just fine

I believe if you tell the valet at Poly that you are golfing that they will give you a voucher for a taxi to get there and back. I know that works for the main golf courses, not sure on Oak Trail though...

It's probably a 10 minute walk for a 5 year old from the Polynesian to Shades of Green which is where the clubhouse is located. If your son can walk the nine hole course, he'll have no trouble making the walk. As they approach SOG, the clubhouse is around the back on the the right.

The walk between Poly and the golf courses located around Shades of Green is actually very pleasant. There are signs at Poly marking the path to Shades of Green. Once you reach the edge of the Poly property, you'll need to cross a street. The golf clubhouse is in plain view when you enter Shades of Green property. Your 5 yr. old won't have any problems making the walk in about 10-15 min., unless he gets distracted by some of the nature he may spot on the way. Alligators have been known to make an appearance. As long as you stay on the paved path, you'll be fine.
