NYE @ SSR Party

Quick question,

We have been to WDW at NYE and had a killer time, I have read about a party at SSR.
We are planing on making reservations next week for NYE 2008, what was the party at SSR and what kinds of activites were there.

There is a DJ, they play games like bingo, trivia contest, hola hoop contest, there is a bartender that sells beer. Its held over at the Congress Park pool area. I didn't see any food.

It is definately a family atmosphere, with lots of younger kids. The fireworks are right there, almost in your face as you look DTD. The fireworks were great. Best part of all, no 2-3 hour journey back to your room after the NYE fireworks are over.

Thank You for the info. We are looking to avoid the HUGE crowds and the ride lines. Maybe dinner at DTD and chill at SSR to ring in the NEW YEAR.

We did NYE at SSR this year as well. We went to AK for a few hours then had dinner at Ohana then chilled at SSR to watch the fireworks. it was a blast and we hope to do it again. We stayed at the party for a little while but then watched the fireworks from our balcony. it was soooo great!

FWIW, we did NYE this year as well. Magic Kingdom does their NYE fireworks on Dec 30 as well. EPCOT has an early bird fireworks around 7:30pm. We did MK on Dec 30 (going for fireworks and EMH) and EPCOT for the early fireworks. Then we came back to SSR for the party and hopped to MGM for EMH after.

The one kink in our plans was MGM after NYE. The roads were jammed around that area. Took 30-45 minutes to get from SSR to MGM.

Anyone who plans to attend SSR's NYE party, check the boards. Some of us are arranging a DISmeet for the occasion.

I have booked our SSR NYE vacation on whim and decided to do research now. Went on and rented a reservation from a DVC member and we will be set tomorrow. This is our first official vacation just the two of us in our 7 years. We were just married in Jamaica along with our 40 guest. Had a blast but we are really looking forward to this trip and thanks to all of you, it sounds like so much fun!!! I haven't been to Disney in 11 years and my husband 22 years, he was 5. Any advice you can offer would be great! Thanks

Welcome to the party. Just keep checking in, especially as we get closer to the date (like Nov). You should see a bunch of chatter heating up by then.

Oh and if you're looking for airfare from SWA, I believe the date to start checking for that is 5 months in advance. I usually start looking mid-summer.

Just booked our SSR NYE vacation. We will be there 12/28-1/3. Looking forward to NYE at SSR. Requested our room to be in Congress Park hope we get it!! We will also be taking our first trip home Sept 26,08, than 7 days on the Magic and back to SSR 10/4-7/08.

Just got back from our first Disney Cruise. On the cruise we bought the DVC. As soon we returned, I booked NYE for SSR. Can't wait to go. Traveling 12/31-1/5. A Dis-meet would be great!
