Hi, I am hoping for some help. We just booked our trip for over the holidays, the kids will be super surprised. Since we are literally weeks out and the ADR's that are available don't really appeal to us, what counter service would you recommend at the resorts. We have a car and will be at Coronado (only choice open for our dates). Thanks for any help, literally we just booked yesterday, we always book a year ahead and ADR's are never really an issue, so CS it is this year! Thanks in advance for any advice!!

I would continue to look for a TS as most CS will be super, duper busy. I would plan to use Mobile Ordering ahead of time to guarantee that you don't have to wait in line forever and you have a table.

Where are you planning to end up? It looks like AK is the only park with reservations.

Thanks for the reply! We are staying out of the park that day/night, the kids will be happy to swim and stay up late:cool1:. Mobile ordering is a great idea, Thank You! I was trying to think if CS had special dinners available for that night, kind of like they do for Christmas. I will also keep checking for an ADR to show up too. Thanks Again!

I have not been to WDW for NYE for a number of years (pre-Covid). We always went into the parks, usually Epcot but sometimes MK and DHS. I would suggest that you at least consider going into the MK for their 12/30 fireworks which are the same as the 12/31 NYE fireworks. They are AMAZING.

In the past, there has been some entertainment at the resorts themselves. Boardwalk used to have a party in the Village Green area on the Boardwalk between the villas and the inn. It included a DJ and a countdown. The Boardwalk has a pizza window and we ate at the Boardwalk Deli on our trip in September. I think that I read that WL also had something special last year. Saratoga Springs also used to have a dance party at one of the quiet pools overlooking Disney Springs. I'm not sure if they're still doing that. Maybe you can start a thread over on the Resorts board looking for fun things to do at resorts. Just be aware that parking at a Disney resort without a TS reservation may be problematic. Those around resorts (MK/Epcot area) are very, very strict on parking.

Traffic will be awful that day, especially on roads leading to MK and Epcot, so I would plan to eat at the resort or very close. For NYE, our plan is to go to Disney Spring (boat from POFQ) for dinner (we have a TS ADR but might cancel and just do CS) and enjoy our resort festivities, beignets and the countdown. For NYE 2018/2019 they had Mickey and Minnie in their king and queen costumes visit the resort in the evening so I hope we will also get to see characters again this year (my youngest was 6.5 yo and she slept through everything in an umbrella stroller we had brought for emergencies).

I think traffic might be okay to travel to the Swan/Dolphin or Animal Kingdom Lodge. Check OpenTable for reservations at the Swan. I see some options at Il Mulino for NYE.
