Hi Everyone!

My family and I are heading to Vero Beach on 12/29-1/1 before
heading to OKW and Universal for the rest of our trip. We have been wanting to go to VB for so long, but now that I'm reading all the posts about things to do in the parks, I'm wondering if we're going to be bored to death there on New Years. Has anyone been there on that night? Do they have any parties or special events?

Thanks, Tracy

I don't really have an answer to your questions, but will give you my thoughts on NYE at VB.

We've only stayed at VB once and that was in the month of May. However, I don't think it would be a place to "celebrate" NYE unless you want a quiet little celebration with just the two of you. I don't know if the resort is planning any activities, but you could call to find out.

VB is more of a quiet laid-back place. It's more of a retirement community. Many places close early. VB is a nice place and we look forward to going back, but if we want to go out for an exciting NYE, we wouldn't probably think to go there. I'm sure WDW does NYE up like it should be done, but I've never been there at that time, so I'll let someone who has been there speak to that.

Hope someone can provide you more info on this.

I'm surprised no one has posted yet. I seem to recall hearing about "something" at Vero last NYE. However, it is "low key" and wouldn't begin to compare to the PARTY at WDW. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. ;)

We just returned from VB - and on this week's activity list there was a ton of stuff going on for Daylight Savings day on Sunday - it seemed like an abnormal amount of stuff unless they do this every sunday - dj at the pool - sonya's buffet - and a lot of kids' activities...so if they do that for Daylight savings - they HAVE to do something for NYE. We'll be at HH this year for NYE and I'm hoping for a few special activities as well. VB is so wonderful though, you could just sit and stare at the ocean and have a great NYE...

Last year they had a party by the pool for NYE at Vero. They had music, brought out a big screen TV to the pool area and had drinks, food and games into the night. It was fun going down the slide late at night when it is usually closed. It was family focused. IT was a pleasant alternative to excessive crowds. We had lots of fun, although a big rainstorm swept in just before midnight. Enjoy.

If you are looking for a big bash, this won't be it!
We were at Vero for last NYE. There was, as described above, a party at the pool. Loud music, some karaoke, t-shirts given away, but not a major league party. As stated above it was clearly family oriented. Our teens 18 and 15 at the time thought it was pretty lame. My wife and I enjoy Vero for the quiet and warm weather, so we didn't really care.

Bottom line: No big blast, fireworks, etc. If that's what you are looking for, you will be disappointed. If a small scale party, family oriented will be OK, go for it!

Wish we were going to be back there this year! Last year weather was great high 70's, warm enough for the beach, and little rain, except just before the stroke of midnight.

Thanks everyone! I am actually hoping for a low-key yet fun NYE at VB. A pool party sounds great since we're usually freezing in Kansas! I really have no desire to be at the parks that night!
