NYC for the day-need lunch suggestion please

DH and I got our family tickets for Phantom of the Opera. We will get to the city around 10am on Wednesday, stopping for breakfast on the way. The show is at 2pm at the Majestic. Does anyone know of a quick but good local eatery? We really only have about 4 hours before the show and don't want to spend a lot of time waiting for a table in "themed" restrauntes or popular delis. We like to eat with the locals!

A quick ride on the A train, which you can pick up at 42nd or 34th and 8th down to 14th St will take you to the West Village. A short....5 minutes or so...walk further south will put you in the neighborhood with some of the best restaurants in the city. You have Phillip Marie ( good American ), the White Horse Tavern ( great burgers and beer), Mama Buddha ( chinese ) and the Hudson Corner Cafe (basically american ) all on the corner of Hudson and W. 11th. Just up....like 2 doors....from Phillip Marie is Cafe Topsy, which serves british pub food with an elegant flair. Around the corner is the now famous Magnolia Bakery, with some of the best cupcakes you will ever eat.

A bit further south on Hudson St. you will find the Cowgirl Hall of Fame which is campy, fun, loud and has great tex-mex food and fantastic drinks. Just up from there is the Sazarac House with some of the best cajun inspired food in the City. I can keep going if you like.....there are SO many places to eat in the West Village and it is a very easy trip from the Theater district.

Our favorite place to eat is Cosi's at 51st and Broadway. They have a tomato, basil and mozzerella melt that is SO good! They also have great salads and a better Chai Tea Latte than any Starbucks.

Pizza! From what I've heard, bad NY pizza is better than good pizza from anywhere else. We liked Ray's Famous Pizza and John's. I know that there is a Johns in the theater district (we ate at a different one).
