Hi everyone,

Its been a long time since I posted. I have been very busy with school. But I just got back from a trip to NYC. We stopped at the 5th Avenue Disney Store as usual and was shocked to see that the third floor gallery has been reduced to a little corner. It used to be huge and now most of the third floor is taken up by home furnishings. Very disapointing. O well, life goes on I guess.
Just thought I would share this info, does anyone know if the gallery reduciton is going to be a permanent thing?
If so, what a bummer.

Hi, Matt! LTNS! Hope everything's going okay with you. :)

Yeah, the Gallery Store reduction is a permanent thing across the country. :( I think there are only 4 left, including the one you were at. IIRC, the others are in LA, Las Vegas .... and either Chicago or Detroit? (someone help me here please :) ).

One is outside of Boston and the other is at the studio. I have been to 5th Ave and am surprised that they have condensed the art & collectables, considering the situation. Maybe they had nowhere else to put their new home stuff???

Isn't the Gallery Store outside of Boston in Natick, MA? It has a BIG sign outsdie of it that says Disney Gallery. Unfortunately I didn't have time to stop.

I went to the 5th Ave. store yesterday. I was totally disgusted. They now have the WDCC pieces in display cases that used to be filled with jewelry and watches back in the good old days. The nice big display cases where the WDCC pieces used to be are now filled with snowglobes. They did have a small display case with some of the pins from the catalog in it.

I remember the good old days when if I forgot my watch when I left for work, I could just walk over to 5th Ave. at lunchtime and buy a new one. The only watch I've seen lately is the Swiss Army watch.

Now they're redoing the downstairs where all the princess stuff used to be. I wonder what they're going to do with that. It's getting to the point where there's going to be no sense going over there soon. They very rarely have anything to buy. There are quite a few things I've seen in the catalog that I'd like to get for the kids in the family for Christmas, but they just don't carry them in the stores. I'd rather be able to go into the store and buy them than have to have them shipped.

I found it pretty depressing. :(

Yes, JudithM, you are correct. I always forget the name.

I have noticed that DS on line has quite a bit of art & collectables.
I guess it followed the adult clothing there. There was another thread here that has an address to write to in regards to the collectables situation. You can't even special order anymore at your local DS. Such a shame.
