I'm hoping I didn't mess up -- I will be getting into FL on 9/3/05 from the Repositioning Cruise of the Disney Magic. We originally didn't get flights back to NY since we weren't sure we were going to stay overnight at WDW. Now -- I'm looking for airfare back -- on 9/3 & 9/4 and seeing prices of $ 150.00 one way.

Should I keep my fingers crossed for a better deal in July ? I have never flown over a holiday weekend ... usually at WDW the first of Sept. (but leave before Labor Day). Any ideas ?

Check out Jet Blue to JFK or LGA. I'm going down to Orlando 9/4 for $79.00 and coming back 9/14 for $69.00. I can't see them raising it much, if at all, going to JFK the days you want. Go to their website and check. :)

Jet Blue is very expensive the 3rd and 4th of Sept. I've been looking for awhile. If you can somehow stay to the Wed after labor day the prices really comes down.

I have no problem staying -- but by the time we get to FL we will have been gone 2 1/2 weeks from home. Plus the cost of the hotel room & food would be more than the airfare costs :goodvibes

Current airfare is $ 150 pp - ONE WAY on Jet Blue. I've seen some Continental Flights to Newark for $ 122. pp on 9/4.

Going to keep fingers crossed for an airfare sale.

I wouldn't count on it. My friend has been watching for these flights for months and they have only gone up. The more seats taken, the more its going to cost. If you wait too long you might wind up paying way more than $150. JMHO. HTH! :cool1:

Holiday weekends are murder. Rates out of NYC are usually great so can't complain, but for holiday weekends you have to leave early or come back late to get the good fares.

Good luck!

Wow! Didn't realize that leaving from Orlando to JFK that day is a big difference in price! That's crummy as they are still listing flights going down that day for $79.00. Maybe Song is a bit better? Good luck and have a great trip!

I just priced flights out of TAMPA -- on Jetblue -- they have an 8:30 PM flight for $ 119.20 (incl. taxes). A rental car would be about $ 50.00 to go from MCO to TPA. It's just over an hour drive from DTD to the TAMPA airport.

Now -- we will be getting off the ship by 9:00 AM and at the airport by 10. Normally -- if our flight isn't until the evening - we rent a car and go to DTD for the day -- so the cost of the rental car would be there anyway.

Does this make sense to anyone else ?

Yes, it does make sense. We came back to DTW via TPA during President's Week last year for the same reason. Give yourself ample time---it's a good hour's drive, and can be longer with traffic or construction.

Thanks ... I want to fly Jet Blue -since they have a great weight allowance of 70 lbs. per bag :)

I'm going to book the flight.....

Just an FYI, Song allows 3 checked bags @ 50lbs. per bag. Just happen to check this out since I was planning on checking 2 small bags instead of my one big one. HTH :wave2:
