Does anyone know which snacks you can find around the world that would be nut free?
Last time we visited the dole whip became my best friend. I would love to know if anyone has any experiences with anything else being safe. For example I would love to know if the jalapeño pretzels would be.

Special Diets can give you a list of specialty items that are nut free.
We avoid so many things in addition to nuts that I have no idea. Enjoy life products are safe. Depending on the specific nuts and how picky you are about shared equipment or facilities, all of the babycakes items don't have nuts in the ingredients. The plaza's ice creams are probably safe.
I suspect the popcorn would be safe. I don't know that we have gone to a single location that didn't have something nut free. DS, who is allergic to some nuts, usually would have at least 3-4 options everywhere if it didn't come down to egg, dairy, wheat or soy.

I would hop over to allears and start looking at menus. EPCOT locations tend to be a little unreliable because there are non-Disney vendors providing the food and there can even be small language barriers at times.

My son has a nut allergy-Peanuts and tree nuts plus dairy and egg whites. We went in August and my son had popcorn, a pretzel from Germany, a dole whip from the poly-pineapple only, the frozen fruit bar.

I dint think he had too many other things. I brought him Oreos and chips and I requested a microwave so I was able to make him Rice Krispie treats-I brought parchment paper to keep it from sticking too.

There are probably more things you can have vs him since he has dairy to contend with as well.

The popcorn is not safe.

Which popcorn?
Now that I'm wondering, the OP didn't say how specific their needs were but do you remember why it wasn't safe? Is it made on shared equipment or shared facility? It doesn't directly have nuts, does it?

My son ate the popcorn from the popcorn vendors. No problem.

He just had allergy testing-lab work-in December and had a peanut food challenge and failed. He can't do tree nuts either-mainly walnuts, hazelnuts but we avoid all.

He is one to get hives, the frothy, gooey sputum and throws up when he has a reaction.

Oh and another snack he had was the frozen minute made lemonade-the kid you have to spoon out.

We've found a few Enjoy Life products throughout WDW. We mostly eat fresh fruit though, because that's what we're used to and it's widely available. We tend to bring a few snacks from home (granola bars, fruit snacks, prepackaged cookies) each day to relieve anxiety and have for when you need a snack right away.

As for pretzels, check the ingredient list every time! The vendors have the ingredient lists and you can ask to see them. Remember that if pretzels at one location are safe, it does not guarantee that pretzels from every location will be safe. Check ingredients every time. If I recall, some WDW pretzel carts may have had nutty snacks on them as well, which would make them not safe for us due to possible cross contact.

In the past, the info from special diets has said that both pretzels and popcorn could be cross-contaminated with tree nuts, so we avoided both (DD is allergic to peanuts & tree nuts). I haven't checked that info in a long time, so perhaps it has changed.

DD had Dole Whips. She also had churros in Mexico. However, she couldn't have churros in AK because they were stored right next to (touching) walnut muffins. She also had brownies and cookies at Starring Rolls in HS. They were special allergy safe ones, so they were probably gluten free, dairy free, etc as well as nut free. She had frozen Mickey bars and lots of fresh fruit as well.

My DS has eaten the popcorn many times, but in the past there was a reference sheet that stated that the oil in which it is popped is made in the same facility as peanut oil. It also stated that the soft pretzels were process in a plant that contains peanuts and tree nuts. Unless things have changed, it's really a function of your comfort zone.

I copied this from an old reference sheet I had on my computer (dated June 2011):

"Popcorn Oil
Contains coconut, corn, and canola blend (produced in a plant that produces peanut oil)
Soft Pretzels
Processed in a plant that contains peanuts and tree nuts"

Good to know about the popcorn oil. DD13 (dairy, eggs, tree nuts and peanuts) has had the popcorn many times without incident, but this info will give us pause. I'm not doubting monorail silver, but the two times we checked the pretzels at Germany they were not dairy safe for our daughter (they had a small dairy ingredient). Just a heads up to check if dairy is an issue.

You know, now that you mention that, I remember there being dairy in the Germany pretzels as well. My DS had very recently passed a baked milk challenge so I remember us trying to decide whether to let him have one. We did and he didn't react, but I think you're right that there has been dairy in the Germany pretzels in the past. Just in case someone with a severe dairy allergy reads this thread.

Great thread! We've been to disney 3 times before and my dd ate everything. 2 years ago we discovered her tree nut allergy. She eats peanut butter everyday. She ate a walnut and that was it. It's nice to get help from people who know all the tips. Thanks

I haven't been to WDW since 2012 when Special Diets were going thru some changes. Are these lists we used to get still available? Is there any need to contact Special Diets ahead of time anymore? Thanks.
