Does anyone have any idea as to the number of people that the Pop Warner event brings to WDW? Are we talking hundreds or thousands? Would really appreciate any guesstimates, trying to plan our visit and no matter how I do it it looks like we will be overlapping with Pop W. Would like to know what we'll be up against! :goodvibes Thanks in advance for any info! :flower:

We were there last year right during Pop Warner. We stayed right in ASSports with them, didn't know it at the time we booked.

We didn't see them in the parks much but we did feel and see them at the resort. If you are staying at any of the All-Stars you will notice an impact. Not so much at the parks themselves.

There were 64 football teams (not sure how many per team but you have to figure at least 30) and there were over 400 cheerleading squads last year (19 to 35 per squad). So it has to be in the thousands. More than likely they sleep 4 to a room to keep costs down.

Thanks for the numbers. Back in 2000 DH and I were there during the Pop Warner days. Swore we wouldn't do it again. Although I have read on the boards that Pop doesn't really effect the parks unfortunately I can remember our last couple of days there the parks seemed to be filled with cheerleaders and teenagers.

I've talked DH into 2 weeks in Florida this year. Really wanted to do MVMCP again. Since Pop is there Dec 4th thru 10th, and we really need to be home for Christmas, scheduling is becoming a bit hard to do. Best way I've figured is Nov 27th thru Dec 7th at CBR, then move over to Universal thru Dec 10. I'm hoping that few Pop people will come earlier than Dec 4 to enjoy WDW, where some will probably stay later to enjoy WDW.

Thanks again! I can always count of the Dis board to have the answers to my questions! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Just like you have said it effects the resorts not the parks. WE are going again that week this year. And will probably stay at a moderate to avoid all the kids.

I was there last year during that week. We stayed at BWV so the resort was not an issue. Really didn't notice them around the parks except for a group of about 5 girls on ToT, one of whom screamed hysterically as soon as the doors closed. Even one of her friends said "nothing happened yet". We're going 11/26 to 12/2 this year, not because of Pop Warner but because the AP's we bought last year expire 12/4.

We experienced a similar situation this May!!! OMG!! They must have been cheerleaders because NO ONE else screams except cheerleaders!!! :cheer2: Come ON!!! :sad2:

Do you wait in the shadows for Pop Warner posts and then say things like this :confused3 ....just curious as I commented on a post not long ago where you said in rather large, bold letters(which could be taken as yelling in computer "lingo" as it is so large) to be nice when there was the OP post and mine and nothing rude was said??!!
Just curious as it seems kind of senseless to wait for people to post honest comments on their experiences with Pop Warner, not rude or overly negative and then make comments in big, bold lettering (which to be honest are somewhat intimidating) like people are out to give cheerleaders a bad name when they are not :confused3
I know it's probably just a way to distinquish your posts from others but it really does make the person its directed at wonder "what did I say to make her so mad?"
Sorry but I wanted to say something as it does seem like your angry when you post in huge letters like that.........

We're going Dec. 9-12, the same time we went last year. We didn't really notice them much in the parks, but the ones we did notice were boys, not girls....We were in line for Test Track, there was a group of 10 or 12 boys with 2 adults (what are they thinking?) pushing and shoving their way through the line so they could all be together (which is not too bright, since the cars only seat 6 anyway), then, when they got in their cars, they started SCREAMING before it even started moving! I mean high pitched, hurt your ears screaming, with the 2 moms just laughing like it was hysterical. I just looked at them, and said "O.K., we all know you can scream like little girls now" and they shut up. Probably uncalled for, but by that point, I was a little fed up.

Just so you all are aware ..anytime from Dec-May there are cheerleading competitions in orlando/Disney. Big ones!!!
I know for sure there are Two big ones in March this year one at the Swan and Dolphin and one at Wide world of sports.
There is one at Seaworld in January. These are just a few but there are LOTS not just Pop warner. Us "allstar" teams are up in that area all the time.
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We went one year during a cheerleading competition. I thought the girls were sweet. I enjoyed watching them do their little cheers down Main Street and the lines for rides. I guess it brought me back to my cheerleading days. :cheer2: They were having fun and not bothering anyone. I never stayed at a resort with them, but I would probably be out watching them practice. Cheerleaders are very talented these days.

YEAH Marilyn!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
You are so right they are soooo talented and they are just having fun!! Im sure that there are some bad apples out there but arent there allways people like that no matter where you go??
I have said before I know our group are very well behaved (their coach would not put up with anything less!!) loud and proud maybe!! :flower:

DH and I always go to WDW during the least crowded times. Neither of us really like being in a mob of people. Although I'm sure the kids associated with Pop are all great kids, being the parents of 6 and grandparents of 11 we know kids will be kids, especially in a large group!

When we were there during Pop in 2000 nothing horrible happened. But our last 2 days the parks were jammed. It was at the end of Pop and we figured perhaps many had stayed after Pop was finished to enjoy WDW. Little annoying things happened. But what the heck, nothing we couldn't deal with.

I really want to see MVMCP again and finally get to see the Osborne Lights. That's why we are going in December. I would prefer to go when Pop wasn't there, but it doesn't look like that is possible so we will make the best of it. Hopefully the schedule I'm making will minimize the exposure to the Pop crowd.

Again... nothing against the kids. We love kids. But this is our vacation and we would prefer not to be around huge numbers of teenagers being teenagers.
