Number of points and add-onitis

We bought 300 direct points at SSR then about three years later added 200 more direct at SSR. It has been very easy to stay anywhere we want during our Feb and April school vacations in a two bedroom. Our favorite resort is VGF and we have stayed there three times so far on SSR points which cost us $87 a point. We have been very happy. We are taking our 4th short Disney cruise on points too.

To be clear -- I'm not asking "how many points should I buy." What I'm trying to get is a sense of is what is the norm.

What I'd like to know is:

How many points did you buy in your first contract?

How many points do you have now?

Assuming you have added more points, how long before you bought your second contract?

How many contracts do you currently have?

Did you add on at the same or different resort?

***edit -- what do you know now that you wish you knew when you first bought (other than prices seem to keep going up). And how often do you have to rent out unused points?

I'm still waiting for my first contract to clear estoppel and closing -- but I can feel myself already wanting to buy more. I almost pulled the trigger on another contract just yesterday, but I kept telling myself it would be prudent to hold off a few months to at least see how the whole thing works.

We bought 200.

We've only been members since January, so we have 200.

We are considering a second contract if that possible second California property opens up. We're in CA, so having the 11 month advantage would be nice. (Although we did get in to GC at 7 months for December.)

Just the 1 contract.

We would add on at a different resort- either here in CA or possibly we'd consider a contract for the right price at Beach Club or AKL.

130 VGF second contract (just submitted to ROFR)

First contract went to ROFR on 5/9 -- second contract went to ROFR 6/9.

I might have to stop coming to this board cold turkey. it's not healthy on the bank account.

150 points at Boardwalk, bought via resale.

How many points do you have now?

320 points.

Assuming you have added more points, how long before you bought your second contract?

About six months.

How many contracts do you currently have?

Four.

Did you add on at the same or different resort?

I added on twice at different resorts (so three resorts total) and once at my original resort.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first bought (other than prices seem to keep going up). And how often do you have to rent out unused points?

I wish I had bought three times as many BWV points when they were $50 per point. I've never rented my points out.
