Just curious! I read about how all of you have just visited DVC for 10 days, 12 days, etc. But my question to you all is that what is the average time spent on your vacation as a DVC member? If you could how long of a vacation visiting your home base would you actually like to take? Would it be 1 week, 2 week, 3 week? Only asking because DH and I think a dream vacation would be about 2 1/2 weeks.

Well, my "Dream Disney vacations" are:

1) 1 month round the world....spend a week each in Anaheim, Tokyo, Paris and Orlando (will have to be 5 weeks when they add Hong Kong) ;) ; and (more realistically)

2) 7 nights at WDW, 4 nights on Disney Cruise Line and 5 nights at either Vero or Hilton Head, depending upon the season...

Likely, for now, we will be happy to settle for out 6-7 nights at WDW and 3-4 nights with my parents (who live in Davenport....about 15 miles for Main Gate)....Each of our Disney vacations end up being a bit of a Dream, so no complaints from me :):bounce:

Our dream vacations range from 7-10 days - on our recent trip we found that 7 days at WDW was a perfect length - we were ready to go back to our home away from DVC

Thanks

We've only had one trip so far. The trip lasted 2 weeks, but we only spent the last 10 days at VWL. We spent the first 4 in St. Pete visiting with friends from Sarasota. 10 days was a pretty good amount of time.

Our next trip we will be there for 14 days. Normally we are there for 7 to 8 days.

just back from 10 days. DW says just to long so will try 7-8 on our Oct trip.

would love to stay 1 month at BWV but don't think DW would go for that:eek:

We have been DVC members since 1994 and we started out with 5 days and then gradually increased it---10 days is our preference right now. It sounds like a long time, but it is so relaxing for us. I would love to do 3 weeks sometime, but not able to do that just now. :Pinkbounc :p

We have found 8 nights to be perfect. Any more than that and I start to get homesick. Although everytime I book a trip I want to make it 10 days, but I know myself well so I only book 8;)

Are new schedule is four nights at VB, followed by eight at VWL.
We would stay longer, but we must go back to work at some point (plus my wife misses our cat).

We do trips of four to sixteen days each. The longer the trip, the more relaxing it is.

The four day trips are for early December to get away and enjoy the holiday festivities. When we do five or six days it is usually tied to a Disney Institute program. Most of our "normal" vacation trips are eight to nine days each. Once each year we will do something in the ten to twelve day length. Once in a great while we organize a twelve plus day adventure.

I think an ideal trip would be about 10 days. We normally stay about 6-7 days right now. Really, I think two full weeks would be wonderful but I'd settle for 10.

We bought another set of points to allow us to stay for 12 days at a time, once a year during the summer season. This allows us to spend nearly two weeks at WDW with only two weekend days to chew up those points!!!:)

Our average trip is usually anywhere from 10-13 days. We drive, so we try to make it longer so it doesn't feel like we are getting back in our car so soon.

We always stay 7 - 10 days. I would love to stay longer but I do need to leave time for a beach trip also. :jester: :smooth:

On site at DVC our longest trip has been 6 nights thus far. But a previous trip to Orlando offsite in '99 was 10 days and that's when we ended up buying DVC. We had such a great trip despite my morning-sickness from baby #3 that we decided we'd buy a timeshare or DVC. Last summer we took a 10 day trip - but it was 5 at YC and 5 at VB. We ended up wishing we had stayed at the YC or somewhere else at WDW for the entire trip.

I prefer the longer trips. It's more relaxing and I don't feel pressured to do as much each day in the parks. This summer, however, I can only afford the points for a 5 night trip (Sun to Fri) at BCV which I think will be enough time in the heat. And then next April we'll go for 7 days at BWV.

When we vacation elsewhere during the summer (RI or MA beaches or San Francisco) I always try for 2 weeks, but it's hard for my husband to take that much time at once and now the girls are into sports for which they play or train year round.

Next year my DH will get 5 weeks of vacation and then we'll start planning at least one two week trip/year and at DVC every other year. Here's hoping. :)

We find that 10 or 11 nights works best for us. We drive and usually leave on Friday, arriving on Saturday in Daytona Beach for two nights. We check in on Monday at WDW which has us checking out on the following Thursday or Friday. That gets us back on Friday or Saturday, leaving a day or two to get ready for the return to work.

This plan also limits the use of points on the weekend.

Someday we will buy more points and trade in Daytona for Vero.

We use our points on Fridays and Saturdays. I tried the hotel shuffle once and found it to be more trouble than it was worth, I like the feeling of knowing when we check in that we are all set for the next week and a half.

Maybe when the kids are bigger, we will move, but right now it's just a lot of effort.

This will be the first trip of 10 days for DD (11) and myself in July. DH will be with us for the first 5 days, then DD (27) and son in law will join us to finish out our 10 days. It will be interesting to see if DD (11) will like the longer stay!
