Just booked our first ever visit to our home resort AKV for August to celebrate my DD's birthday. Excited to be staying here for the first time!

You are going to LOVE it!!!
If you list your exact dates, Brandi will add you to her list of everyone going this year. :)

Right now, we are booked to stay AKV August 7-12, then move to BCV August 12-17. That may change when flights come out though, but fingers crossed that we get 10 wonderful days at Disney. Thanks so much!

You have been added.

Love Bugs are usually in abundance May and September. They're creepy looking, but harmless. :confused3

I have seen hundreds of them at AKL, especially on the outside stairs at the end of Kudu - near the barn. :scared:

I just looked up love bugs just to make sure. The ones we saw definitely were different. Very big, bigger than my thumb. I've seen love bugs before and they didn't bother me.

Another thing that makes it seem shorter is that you are walking on carpet instead of sidewalks, so it's a little easier on the legs. :goodvibes

...plus, you can stop to look at the animals at any of the windows in the sections of hallways that separate one 'building' from another....

Looks like you're just gonna have to sleep on the bus, little lady! :lmao:

....in a perfect world, my friend...in a perfect world.

It would be like the Harry Potter bus... and all of us would be there... and we'd have beds... and free unlimited park admission.. :cloud9:

We had a 6:45 reservation at Sanaa, and I was really hoping for some time on the balcony watching the animals and enjoying a glass of wine. Unfortunately I ended up with only half an hour in the room before we had to take off for our dinner reservation. But I took these photos before we left.

This little bunny snuck his way out onto the Savannah

The Ankole Cattle liked to hang out near our window. This one guy really was interested in the feeding station for the giraffe. So much so that he was sticking his antler into the feeding station to knock the leaves on the floor so that he could have a tasty treat.

Then we headed out to the restaurant around 6:30PM

It wasn’t very busy, but still they wanted to give us a pager.

DSC00697_zpsc36b5b37.jpg

It didn’t take long for them to seat us and we were right next to a window. It was already dark, so we really couldn’t see a lot of animals. So we began to peruse the menu.

We started off with the bread service. We choice 2 orders of Naan, Garlic Ginger Naan, Onion Kulcha and Pappadum. For accompaniments we had the Cucumber Raita (clockwise from the top), Red Chile Sambal, Mango Chutney, Garlic Pickle, and Tamarind Chutney.

Here are the Mustard Seed Crusted Scallops with Coconut Cream Sauce.

DSC00705_zpsfb70fb57.jpg

And the Lamb Kefta Kebabs with Mint Chutney.

DSC00706_zps9d007099.jpg

And then we split the Sanaa Vegetarian Sampler, we chose the Stewed Lentils and Paneer Tikka with Basmati Rice. They split it into two portions for us.

We passed on dessert. That was a perfect meal.

Thanks for all the pictures and descriptions!!! Keep them coming if you have more!

For the Sanaa naan service, which ones were the flat crispy ones? I want to know so I could avoid them, the other ones look so much better. :)

Thanks!

Thanks!

I just recycling the portions of my TR which are applicable to the AKL/AKV and posting them as I post them in my TR. I have a few more updates that I can post and will when I get them ready for my TR.

The flat crispy ones were the Pappadum, and just because the Naan bread is fluffier, both are equally tasty in their own rites. I like having both for the contrast in flavors.
