and they are not always replenished. and even if they are, so its okay to make a family who may only have a limited amount of time to visit still not get any as they have to leave before they do get replaced?

I stand by my statement. if you know what they are meant for and you deliberately are looking at ways to circumvent or get more than your fair share at the expense of others, well I guess you won't care what my feelings are on the subject since you feel you are entitled.

Thanks for the help!:thumbsup2

It's been a few years since I've stayed CL at AKL. There are usually a few types of hummus. A few hot appetizers. Olives, I think. Cheese and crackers It was enough for my kids that they didn't really need dinner. But they're pretty light eaters. My husband and I would usually supplement with something from the Mara. I suppose you could make a meal out of it if you went back often enough. I love hummus, but not sure I'd want to eat it until full. I know this can be a sore subject for some. I've never been there where the apps weren't replenished. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, it's just not been my experience.

Thanks, that's the answer I was looking for.

Actually this is the first I've heard of it being a sore subject. It's never been an issue at the Univerasl resorts or on the Universal section of this forum. Must just be the AKL thread. Disney charges alot more for club level than the Universal resorts, I would expect that the offerings are replenished instantly and constantly. If not it's not worth the money.

:goodvibes I'm 100% a club level gal -- our family ADORES CL and especially AKL CL, something very special staying at that resort..... We've stayed club level at AKL in Jan 2008 -- at that time, I found, yes, you probably could have made a small meal out of the offerings if you wanted too -- they had 2 hot main appetizers then, like a couple soups/ stews plus hordeurves (sp??) where as when we went in Sept 2009, it had diminished significantly to hummus, pita bread, light finger food of african flavouring, (can't remember quite what they where, but they where like canapes , and I did not like all of it, a few things where an acquired taste.) The breakfast was still plentiful, and I especially love the quinoia to add to my oatmeal!
Now, I find club level fixings dwindling to mostly appetizer stuff to tide you over until dinner. WE stayed CL at BC in 2011 and Poly in 2012 - all club levels seem to have dropped the kinds of offerings to small finger type food that wouldn't suffice for a meal. I have heard that WL club level still offers some more substantial offerings such as a soup/ and a fruit cobbler (sounds very yummy) but I haven't personally been there to try it yet. One day perhaps!
I wouldn't worry about what you take, theirs no food police standing by to watch or tell you not to take something. They replenish pretty quickly and are very good at AKL in making sure there is always enough for anyone who wants it.
I find Universal Club level you could probably make more of a meal if you wanted, although I would get tired of eating taquitos/ and the appy's they have out at Hard Rock Club level for my meal! I also find people much more pushy and taking much larger amounts at HRH than i ever do at Disney..... just what I've observed, I don't spend much time in the lounge at appy hour as I don't like fighting crowds for one little morsel, I find that annoying.

In any event, I agree -- Take what you want, you paid for it as did I and every other person staying club level. Enjoy, it's a great experience!

My husband and I stayed at the end of July and the club offerings in the evening were: three kinds of hummus, bread and crackers to put it on. Three different types of cheeses and assorted raw vegetables. There were two hot appetizers (fried tofu squares with a sauce, small individual meatballs, hot shrimp with curry, carrot-sweet potato soup to name a few) and one cold app such as a quinoa salad or goat cheese creme brûlée (yum!!!) each night also. The hot and cold apps were individually plated in one or two bite portions. There is a kid's table that had sliced apples with caramel dip and one or two other apps such as ants on a log, bite size pizzas, fried bacon Mac and cheese balls. I found that I was satisfied after trying one (two if extra yummy) of each appetizer along with the hummus, cheese, veggies and bread (not to mention the beer). This was our first time at AKL club level and we really enjoyed it and the staff were very nice. I like to graze so the club offerings were enough and we just supplemented by having lunch at the parks.

Between the tea time and scones at 3:30pm and apps and drinks at 5:30pm and desserts at 8:00pm I was full at night. We never saw anyone trying to take whole platters of apps. Everyone just took what they wanted and it was very relaxed with plenty of food each night. The only night they ran out was when they had meatballs and the chef came out and told everyone she was making samosas with spinach and cheese to supplement.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply.

We've stayed at Hard Rock and Royal Pacific club level. I found the staff, service and the guest's more easy going at Royal Pacific. Also the offerings were better. I don't remeber making a meal out of anything at HRH, but at RPR we did a few times. It seemed most people were trying to make a meal out of it and the staff brought it out as quick as everyone dished it up. It seemed like that's how it was supposed to be, so I wasn't really expecting the disgruntled reply I got earlier.

Thank you that helps!

Sounds like the wife might be ok, but I'll need another meal! :)

Well kids.. I am heading back in 20 days!! Sadly, it's only an overnight and at the BWI for another Disney Bride's baby shower.. But it's a girls weekend.. No kids or men!! Woot

I'm super excited! We are staying at AKL (standard room) for the first time this December. I am a bit concerned about getting a parking lot view. We've always stayed at POR which has decent views all around. But, if that happens, we will be okay because we will be in Disney.

Can anyone tell me what type of in-room amenities AKL offers? Any advice on things to do at the resort? Thanks for the help in advance :)

Changed our rooms for next July from Royal Assante Suite and 2 extra CL rooms to Royal Assante Suite and Royal Kuba Suite!!!!!

Party! Party! We can't wait. At least we're under a year now. Lol!

Wow! I would love to check out those rooms some time. Have fun.:santa:

You will love AKL! Check page one of this thread for information on the in room amenities. The rooms are really pretty. My girls love the bedspreads! There are two sinks as well, which is really nice. There is also an open space below the sinks that we use for everyone's shoes. An organized room makes me happy. What can I say?

When you check in, you will receive a sheet with all of the activities for the week. There are cultural programs, storytelling by the fire put outside which is surprisingly not hot to sit around!, of course, then animals! There are lots of great viewing spots and usually a CM from Africa on hand to chat with and ask questions. The Lounge is a very nice spot to hang out for a bit before or after dinner at Boma or Jiko. Not sure if you are adults or kids are part of your party as well. But there are kids programs too. And, Zawadi (the gift shop) is a great place to shop! Really unique things there, as well as the usual Mickey kinds of items. After a long day of touring, the hot tubs are a wonderful way to relax too!!

Enjoy your stay!!

I thought they were the basket filters, but I could be remembering it wrong. You might try asking on the DVC side of things. Someone there would absolutely know.

I didn't see anyone else post, but this is correct, I haven't stayed at Kidani yet, but as far as I know, all the DVC rooms use 12-cup basket filters, not cone.

Thank you! I plan to bring extra filters and coffee. Also, I just got an electric yogurt maker, and want to strain some whey off to make yogurt cheese/Greek yogurt, so knowing the type of filter (that I'll also use to line a mesh strainer for the Greek yogurt) really helps.
Thanks again!
5 more days to AKV - Jambo!
Wa-hoo!

I'm off for my first stay at AKL today! Can't wait to get there.
