I had to pick up the pop up from a rental yesterday and decided to stay the night at the fort since I had an inspection in Orange City today and the site ended up becoming an expense write off.

I was in site 2058 and I don't think it's any secret I hate 2000 loop. There were about 10 campers total in the loop including a small Class A so there's something for the posters on the empty sites and large campers in a partial loop to put in their pipe and smoke lol.

I decided to hit the hay about 11 as it was freezing out and not much to do. I had a space heater that warmed the camper fine when it was in the 30's but the 24 degrees last night laughed at this little jewel. I could see my breath inside it was so cold. I didn't sleep well but finally fell asleep to be awakened at 0245. Yes that's an 0 in front of the 2. I thought it was some kids messing around until I looked out to see a car with the lights on providing light for a guy setting up a tent. The noise I heard was him beating tent stakes in the ground. I laid back down and in a few minutes heard the blow up mattress pump going to town for a while. I'm laying there like are you serious? There's 10 sites occupied and they give this guy a site next to me checking in at 0200. My guess is he may have been to a park and checked in earlier. Anyway a few minutes later I hear a kid crying and car doors slamming. To top it off my fine neighbor uses his keyless entry remote to lock the door and give me a little whistle song to rock me back to sleep. I never did go back to sleep again. I decided to get up at 0630 and head out.

My Duramax is pretty quiet when she is warmed up but I had no extension cord to plug her in so when I cranked her up she rattled just as good as a Powerstroke or Cummins. I decided it needed about the 30 minutes it took me to break down for her to warm up and give my neighbor a little rumble to enjoy the sunrise with.

Hopefully there was a good excuse for the late set up. The tags on the van were from FL so it wasn't like they drove in from Minn-E-Sota or something and didn't judge the arrival time correctly. The other thing was I paid $100.13 for the site. The most I've ever paid or ever will again. When I checked in the guy laughed when I asked if I could get AP or AAA.

I'm really hoping my neighbor wasn't a Disboarder as I guess we won't be fiends lol. Who ever you are, you need some etiquette.

Yep, that clearly qualifies as disrespect. Sorry to hear you had a bad night at the Fort Donnie. And yes, $100 a night for a Partial is over my limit. :scared1:

Holy Carp, Batman!!! A partial site was $100 a night??? No wonder there were so many empty sites. What the heck was a premium going for?

And if the neighbor was a Disboarder, it couldn't have been one of the Fiends - so who cares??:confused3

I think it's over quite a few Ed. IMO, I see a lot of people at the fort with a nice little pup to enjoy 4th of July, New Years etc. and it looks like Disney has pulled the plug on them. The only way I see people being able to do the fort for extended times or holidays is to get tents and split a site. I'm not buying into the "the fort is going away" or being moved because just to start all over and build new infrastructure would cost many many millions. Even the planning of it and doing survey work would run in the millions. There's still land on Bay Lake east of the fort that I think would be used before the fort would go. I think it's just like the gas co.'s, they push prices up and see just how far the consumer will spend and when the breaking point breaks the folks quit traveling and planning trips therefore the demand goes down and they lower the price. Disney got a fortune over the past couple seasons and people obviously aren't wanting to give the mouse their dough this year. With Christmas and New Years being on a Saturday it gave them a great opportunity to fill the campground during the week as well. Hopefully they will realize it and not be Jackwagons.

My popup is looking colder and colder every day....

And to think I was going to be able to post a pic of a moho and pop up on one site lol.

I have a set of air horns that plays "War Eagle". Should I bring them?:rotfl2:

Jen if you were a tattoo wearing type a woman I would hate to see what and where they would be located. It's like the only AU thing you don't have and I don't see it in this lifetime. :lmao:

There are Auburn things I don't have...I just haven't found them yet. ;) My mother has always told me that if I get a tattoo, she will get it surgically removed against my will. I believe her. You have met her. You know she'll do it too!:rotfl2:

Yes, Yes I believe you.

Donnie you didn’t play your cards right. We had something like that happen to us in the 400 loop. I called the duty manager because I have them in my speed dial with in mins they were there. Long stories short we got 3 nights free.

While in a pop up in Dec 2000 with similar weather, we lost the heater. Only one ceramic block heater. Was miserable, I actually went into comfort station to get warm.

I went in there about 0400 and thought about sleeping on the bench by the showers lol. I was shivering to death.

Yay for the Class A in the 2000 loop! Although it seems like with the empty sites I won't have a problem upgrading.

I was of the impression that the Fort won't allow you to set up after a certain time. Don't know why I think that, but when I showed up at 0200 once (from MN, had good travel time) the just put me in the overflow lot.

So, does anyone know what time they cut off letting you pull in and set up camp?

I have been to campgounds where setup cut off is 11-11:30pm after that you have to stay in the parking lot or find a hotel. I think you can check in to the Fort up to 5am

Sounds like your neighbor was some jackwagon that likes to bicker a lot and is in love with his aunt. But at least he didn't ask to share your site and use your grill.

or use your bikes or park your truck in the overflow....

or God forbid, smoke on your site:eek:

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I feel your pain, Donnie. The weekend of the "teenagers from hell" we were laying in bed wide awake at 2am and I turned to DH and asked, "does their van really have 17 doors???"

Sorry for the lousy night. At least it was a write off.

Ooh - that's SNAZZY!! :cool2:
