"Now That's What I'm Talkin' 'Bout!"- Our 1st DVC stay-May 2010-Wrap Up 9/23

Plan looks good!! You're only missing us again by a couple of days!! LOL Ah well. My friend is driving today, and I'm a nervous wreck. But, Went to the dr this morning, got my sleeping pills, and my narcotics, and I'm ready to GO!!! HAHA I do need to have a couple of moles removed when I get back....YUK, and I found out that my scale here at home is all haywire, and wasn't giving us good readings, so I asked my dr the last time I got my sleeping pills refilled how much I weighed, and she said 185, so my starting weight on my ticker is WAY off...and today I'm at 157. So, according to my dr, I'm at 28 lbs!!!! :) DxDDP next week is gonna wipe it ALL away!!! HAHA

Thanks Christie!! We keep missing each other somehow. Originally Joe wasn't going and we would have overlapped. Oh well. When you get those AP's we will have a lot of DIS meets in our future. :thumbsup2 WOW on the weight loss girl! I thought you looked fantastic in May. You looked really skinny to me. I don't think you need to lose anymore at all! Congrats on 4 days girl!!! I think I will be counting down every day with you. I'm so excited for ya!!

Your plans sound great! Mmm, dinner at Tony's. Love it there! How cool your friend is going to be there too.

I'll be anxious to hear what you have to say about Saratoga Springs. I can't wait to go back there. :goodvibes

And happy 10th birthday to Lindsey!
We've never done dinner at Tony's, Garden Grill or Cape May. We had some of the TH dinner at our Grand Gathering but technically all of the places Lindsey picked are new for us. It is going to be fun and interesting for sure. :goodvibes

I'm anxious about SSR myself. After staying in such a great room at AKV, I'm kind of nervous about it. Any recommendations on room location? We will be spending A LOT of time at the pool. It's great having you as a friend Sarah! You've stayed everywhere I want to stay and you have all kinds of info to share. :goodvibes

Thanks on the b-day wishes! I'll pass them along. :goodvibes

You are so right my friend....that's exactly why we keep going back!!!

God help them is right:banana: They better be praying:cool1:

Oops sorry, premature post again..didn't read your whole post:rolleyes1

Your plans sound great....I can't believe in two and a half weeks your back....I am living vicariously through you:banana:
I can't believe we will be back so quickly either. It's almost surreal to me. I can't wait!! This trip we will be meeting up with two families that have girls Lindsey's age. She will be :cloud9:.

My BFF from childhood had her husband suddenly pass on her almost two years ago. She woke up to find him in the stairwell. He passed from a massive heart attack. She is taking the trip as a positive way for her and her kids to remember his passing. On my first trip to Disney in 1987, my parents brought her with us. She hasn't been back. This trip is going to be up and down for her for sure. It will be kind of cool to be back with her 23 years later with are own girls. Her daughter and Lindsey are exactly one month apart. :goodvibes

Your plans for July look great! How fun that you are going back so soon!

I've seen a couple of shots from people's photoshoots at the Poly right around that same time and they turned out great - wonderful lighting at that time of day! :goodvibes

Sara
We are very lucky to be going back so soon. If it weren't for those extra points we were given when we joined DVC it probably wouldn't be possible. Our trip expenses are limited to food and gas at this point. After doing the math, it works out cheaper than what it has historically cost to throw a party for the girls. They both said they'd rather take a quick trip to Disney instead. Works for me!

The CM I talked to when I booked the photo session really recommended the evening for the lighting as well. I was influenced because I think the lighting will be wonderful and it should be a little cooler with the sun beginning to set. :thumbsup2 I've bought Joe and I some bright blue polo's from Land's End and I figure we will wear some khaki shorts with them. I bought the girls some matching bright white sundresses. I hope the colors work with the tropical feel of the Poly. :confused3

So when I left off we were heading over to 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. As we were exiting the monorail we ran into Becky (ladybugmom) and her family. Becky asked if I knew where I was headed and since we had eaten here last year I did. We all made our way into the GF and I made a beeline for the elevator. Becky's family and my family all squeezed into the elevator and within a few seconds we were in the main lobby of the GF.

We made our way over and checked in. About 5 minutes later the McFarland's came along and we decided it would be fun to eat dinner together so I went back up to the desk with Jay and asked that we all be seated together. They said no problem and gave us a pager. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes for our table. That wasn't too bad for a party of 8. :goodvibes

While we waited the adults loafed on the comfy couches and the girls danced to the piano and band music. There were several little girls and all of them were spinning around in their dresses. It was really cute.

When our pager went off we were seated in the main dining area on the back wall. We weren't there 5 minutes when we were greeted by Drizella. She started chatting with Preston inquiring on his relationship status. Preston turned beat red but did tell her he was single. She immediately proposed and claimed Preston as her fiancee. Preston achieved a new level of red at that point. We all laughed and giggled. She was fantastic.

Here she is...

Right as Preston sat back down she eased up behind him and planted this on his cheek...

IMG_4723.jpg

We all howled again. With Preston being the only teenager and the only boy, we were having a big time picking at him. :goodvibes He immediately tried to wipe it off. At that point he had a big pink smear on his cheek and none of us let on about it. It was too funny.

Next, we were greeted by Anastasia. She picked up right where Drizella left off.

We noticed a small break so we all made a dash to the buffet and swooped up some goodies. The food was traditional American fare. Some of it was bland but most of it was edible. About that time it was time for the dance around the dining room so all of the girls jumped up and followed Anastasia around the room. They had a ball jumping and dancing with her. Sorry no pics of that...

Next Prince Charming made his way over and we got these...

Then Cinderella was announced and she and her prince had a dance in the center of the room. It was sweet just like last year. After the dance she made her way over to us and spent quite a bit of time chatting with the kids.

Between characters, our waitress brought Jay and Joe one of these and she also bought each of the kids a laminated place mat with the character's signatures.

As we were wrapping our meal up we were greeted by Lady Tremaine. She is Joe's favorite because she is so snarky. She had the girls go tell Prince Charming that for a Prince his handwriting was awful and that he needed to work on it. She watched as they went to tell him. It was cute and of course the girls didn't mind going to talk to the prince again.

Lexie was cracking me up because she kept giving her a hug. Lexie told her that she was so cranky because she needed a hug. Lady T really went with it and we were all in stitches. Then the girls started telling Lady T that Preston was her new SIL. She said "Really, which one of my daughters?". The girls yelled "Drizella!". She said "Oh good, Drizella knows what's important for a good marriage...MONEY!". We all laughed.

Here she is as the kids were trying to group up for a photo..

Joe asked her if she could smile (just kidding of course) and he got this...

It was time to leave after we met Lady T so we sacked up our stuff and headed back to MK with the McF's. The parade was getting ready to start so we decided it was a great time to catch a few rides. As a group we rode POTC, The Jungle Cruise, and the flying carpets. We decided to head towards HM but we couldn't get across due to the parade. Since the park was closing after the fireworks we decided it would be best to beat the crowd and head to the buses.

Ending the day with the McF's on a few of our favorite attractions, was the perfect way to end the day! :goodvibes

Up next: DHS Day 4! H&V, TOT, TSM, & More!!

Oh the picture of Preston with the big red lips on his cheek is priceless! I love it! The dinner sounds like a lot of fun. So the food was just okay huh? I'm looking for new restaurants to try next year and had thought about this one for dinner.

I can't think of a better way to end a day than at the Magic Kingdom.

Awesome update!! I love when the characters are super into their roles-- glad you guys had such a great time!!

The Drizella story is hilarious...the poor boy must have been humiliated but it's awesome how in character she was. Cute pics of the kids:thumbsup2

It looks like ya'll had a blast at 1900 PF. I can't even imagine how embarrassed Dallas would be; Preston was a trooper about it.

nice update!! I ate there for breakfast with my roommates when I was living/working there! We had an awesome breakfast and lots of fun with the characters! I think its almost one of those Hidden Gems that people forget about!

Great plans for Sep. you will have to tell me how u like the GG-we have a ressie there in Sep.
Fun dinner at 1900 PF-Preston is such a great sport and overall nice kid!!

I loved your 1900 Park fare update! Too funny that the stepsisters kissed Preston. Looks like you all had fun! We ate here on our trip too. The food was okay better than Chef Mickey's for sure!

I have been away from the boards for a bit, so I have some catching up to do.

Breakfast looked great. Great picture of you and the family with Cinderella. The BBB pictures of the girls are so adorable. How funny that they called Joe King. I’m sure you heard about that one a lot. Bryan wouldn’t let me hear the end of it either if it were him. I love how you had a laid back morning in MK…no rushing to get to one attraction or another. It seems so laid back.

Congrats on getting the waitlist! I love Kidani so much!

YAY for Josie being tall enough! That’s a big deal. I’m glad she was able to ride her first roller coaster. How cool that your friends were Grand Marshalls! Great pics of the parade!

How funny that yall finished Buzz before Lindsey and Joe finished Space. How crazy of that guy to jump out of the ride vehicle and back in because of some stupid sunglasses. I hope the toddler ended up being okay. How scary!

Happy birthday to Lindsey! The schedule looks like a great quick trip to the World!

How cool to run into Becky at 1900 PF! How funny that Drizella proposed to Preston! What a keeper picture of him with the kiss-stained cheek!

How nice for Lindsey, can't even imagine being in WDW with kiddies your own age...how fun:banana:

I cannot believe that....that breaks my heart:sad1: You have happy memories and you will make more on this trip....healing will take place there! My BFF and her daughter stopped in last evening to give Jasmine her graduation gift as they are flying to Edm this weekend for her sisters wedding and I find it totally weird that they won't be here for Jasmine's grad:sad2: We have been through everything together, our kids births, her daughters graduation, her mother's death, and I almost lost her in 2005 when she became ill and needed a liver transplant. We have cherished everyday since then and often think of the unselfish act of the donor family:hug: Friends get us through in good times and in bad....I wish you much fun my friend, she's lucky to have you:hug:

YAY!! We just LOVED this dinner!! And thank you for showing us the way!! :goodvibes I laughed so hard that I had tears running down my face!! The stepsisters were flirting BIG time with my brother--it was soooo much fun!!

Looks like you all had fun at your 1900 PF dinner. Preston was a good sport about all the kissing!

We ate there for Elizabeth's 16th birthday dinner last year, and I was sooooooo disappointed that the step-sisters weren't there. Liz would have loved them, and I really wanted them to be there for her.

Sounds like a great end to a day.:)

The dinner was a ton of fun and we had a LARGE time picking on Preston about his new girlfriend. The food is a little better than Chef Mickey's this year. Last year is was great. The atmosphere can't be beat though. I think everyone should try it at least once. ;)

Awesome update!! I love when the characters are super into their roles-- glad you guys had such a great time!!
Thanks Kylie!! We did have a great time!
