Now I'm confused...Bringing outside food into DL

How close are you looking for? I don't think there are any true grocery stores within walking distance of the parks. There is a Vons that's about two miles away, plus several smaller convenience type stores closer to the parks. If you look on Google Maps for grocery stores you can get a sense of what is nearby.

Thanks I'll have a look at google maps but i was looking for walking distance as we wont have a car.. Alos whats VONs?

Disney suggest that you use the picnic areas which is on the left side as you face Disneyland gates. I have brought a subway sandwich with me on a few occasions and have sat at an empty table inside the parks to eat it without anyone saying anything to me.

Any advice on what kind of food to take in? I'm not sure what I can take in thats easy and convenient for lunch.

I have been taking my kids to the parks for 7 years, and been taking outside food and drinks in for 7 years and NEVER had an issue ever. They of course, ask to look inside our backpack and soft-sided cooler and it's always been fine. =)

To take in, we have brought the following:
Snacks
Goldfish
Chips (I bring gallon zip locks and make smaller portion sizes rather then carry a whole bag in)
Applesauce (in cooler)
string cheese (in cooler)
pretzels
beef jerky
protein bars (kids cliff bars are a favorite)
grapes (in rubbermaid container in cooler)
Blueberries (in rubbermaid container in cooler)
crystal lite individuals for water bottles
fruit snacks (we hardly ever buy for the kids, so they are a treat)
go gurts (in cooler)
craisins
chex mix
Teddy grahams

I try to get snacks they have either never had before, or something they haven't had in a long time so they will eat. They get overwhelmed at the parks and just want to go, go, go.

With a cooler, we have brought in premade ham sandwiches and PB&J. Saves a lot of money. We let kids pick one treat a day. We make them break about every 3-4 hours for a snack otherwise they get cranky. Helps all of us!
