Now I really don't care what people say!

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. His wife is absolutely right, however, about trips to Disney. This is a cherished place for my family and me. When I was younger, my parents and I often went with my grandparents to Disney World. It was a family favorite and my grandmother LOVED it. Now that she has passed away, everytime I go back I am sure to ride the Tea Cups in honor of her. This is my most cherished memory of my grandmother!

I also love when I am there and see 'The Make a Wish Foundation.' The sparkle of magic in a child's eye is priceless. I, as well, love to see this look on my own child's face when he sees his most beloved characters. Even the joy my DH and I have when we go alone. Disney is a place to be free of worries and just enjoy your family and the magic! These are memories that will last a lifetime.

Have a Disney day - everyday! Make some Magic... :earboy2:

When I told DH that DS and I wanted to go back to WDW after our last trip of 2002 he wanted to know why and still keeps asking me that. DH has no interest in going which is fine but I tell him I am building memories. You just never know what can happen and I am one who believes you live life to the fullest each and every day.

Everyones story just touches me. I love to go as well and I always hear, why don't you save your money for a nice house, put it into savings, or pay off the debt instead of going to disney every year.

Well one, I would like to live in a nicer house but its not going to kill me if I don't. We do pay off our debt and we don't go into debt for our vacations, I work hard to pay for them. And the memories I have with my family are priceless compared to a house that may take me 8 years to get instead of 3.

Spending time with your family is so important. WDW or sleighriding. Have fun, make memories and share the experience. My boys love how I take them out in the snow (which I hate) and play with them, and make Hot Chocolate. Their dad can't do this with them (due to work)...and it is something I hope our children will pass on. I remember my GM at Disney...great memories, but can't get my parents to do the same thing (even when I offer to pay).... :grouphug:

Someone on this site said it best:

You're not spending time with your children, you're investing!

Same goes with the $$!

Here's the lyrics to a Tim McGraw song that says it all, love it by the way and I'm not a big country fan....

Live Like You Were Dying :: Tim McGraw

Genre: Country

He said I was in my early forties
with a lot of life before me
when a moment came that stopped me on a dime
and I spent most of the next days
looking at the x-rays
Talking bout the options
and talking bout sweet time
I asked him when it sank in
that this might really be the real end
how?s it hit you when you get that kinda news
man what?d you do

and he said
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I?d been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

He said I was finally the husband
that most the time I wasn?t
and I became a friend a friend would like to have
and all the sudden going fishin
wasn?t such an imposition
and I went three times that year I lost my dad
well I finally read the good book
and I took a good long hard look
at what I?d do if I could do it all again

and then
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I?d been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about
what?d you do with it what did you do with it
what did I do with it
what would I do with it?

Sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named FuManchu
and then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I watched an eagle as it was flying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying

Years ago I sat with my 64 year old uncle, who was fighting cancer. He took me aside and told me, don't wait until you are ready to retire to have fun. Live life everyday and enjoy the time you have. I often thought of that, when planing or taking another Disney vacation or any other vacation, knowing I am probably spending too much. But in the end, we all have to enjoy our lives to the fullest...I know I am.
