Now DH really wants to try Vero in January...

Our family cant seem to make a solid plan about our plans for this coming January!

We have ressie at SSR for Dec. 31 - Jan.3. Never have done NY at WDW and are so excited. We were then planning to go on the 3 night cruise but now DH is not so sure that he wants to do that. He really wants to wait to do another cruise (already have done a 3 night) until a 4 or 7 night fits our schedule. So.....he thought that it would be fun to drive down to Vero after WDW and stay for 4 nights.

What is it like at Vero in January? Can you get in the water? Is it uncrowded? Will there be enough for 3 children under 11 yo to do?

Most likely cold. I love VB. It is my favorite place to go, but if you plan to use the pool or ocean I would NOT suggest anything before April or after November and even those months are iffy (IMHO).

Average temps in Jan are:

Air low - 53
Air High - 73
Ocean - 68
Pool - 82 (it's getting out that hurts)

Last year VB closed the pool from Jan - mid March to refurb it.

Oh wow - I would have thought that it would be much warmer. The kids would be very unhappy if they could not get in the pool. I figured that the ocean would be chilly but it could be too cool to be out on the beach playing. We may have to re-think this option. THanks for the insight!
