Now a $5000 Star Wars cocktail! On the cruise ships.

Apparently, the article goes on to suggest the following beyond the drink itself:
  • You also get a Star Wars backpack, water bottle, other gifts, a Hyperspace-themed room decoration, and a bottle of sparkling wine from Skywalker Ranch.
  • Perhaps most interestingly, the $5,000 price tag also includes a trip for one person to Skywalker Ranch in Northern California, which is not typically open to the public.
  • Gustin was not able to confirm the details of the escort off the ship (and exactly who is doing that escorting) – but there is definitely an entertainment component to this experience.

Yep .. The visit to Skywalker Ranch is key.

People are funny. It is as if they want to pretend that the drinks alone cost $5000. So, they make up silly headlines knowing a lot of other people will never read the original article and won't realize that the price is for a trip to Skywalker Ranch plus the drinks and other souvenirs too.

Note however, it does not say anything about transportation to Skywalker Ranch which I'm sure if for the buyer to provide. Based on what the price of the Pappy Van Winkle bourbon is I know many people in the Louisville area who would pay that just for the bourbon!

By the way, congratulations to everybody for picking up the hidden gems that come with the drink!

Yeah, it sucks that the trip is only for ONE person. So what, somebody's supposed to go out there all by themselves? Or take somebody but the other person will have to stay behind at the hotel?

Or more likely they want you to buy TWO of the drinks so you won't have to go by yourself.

So after dropping $6,000+ on the hotel you can drop $10,000 more.

That's nothing, I paid $20K for a drink a couple of years ago.

The car dealer gave it to me along with the keys!

Anyway, I'm sure they'll be vloggers lined around the deck waiting to buy this.

The vloggers can write it off as research. ... As to everyone else, well, as the saying goes, there's a sucker born every minute. (And as long as I own shares, well, good on the suckers.)

If Disney thinks there is money to be made by selling visits to Skywalker Ranch, why don't they just....sell tickets to Skywalker Ranch?

Because I'm telling you right now, the alcohol portion of that $5000 drink is no more than $500 "worth" of alcohol (at restaurant mark up pricing). You can buy an entire bottle of that special Gin for $2500. The Bourbon is something like a $300 bottle. And the port is also like $3000/bottle. The Casmus Cognac runs $200. You are getting less than 3 oz of each of these alcoholic drinks.

Why don't they just sell Skywalker Ranch tours for $1000/pop? They'd make WAY more money doing that than selling this ridiculous cocktail on board a ship that departs from Florida.

Initial posts had stated only 1 person. When the Dis purchased the drink, the voucher was for 4 people. That would be so much fun, but not sure its worth the price.

And they just said on today's show that it's not even the RANCH that you get a tour of...it's the VINEYARD.

BO-RING! Pete did not sound amused.

…you’re upset that Disney isn’t making enough money? LOL

No, I'm not upset at all, it's just that there is no need to sell a $5000 cocktail on a Disney cruise. If they want to explore the revenue source that is Skywalker Ranch, they should just do that. It would be FAR better from a PR standpoint. This just looks like a greedy money grab, which is exactly what it is.
