November 30, 2013 Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy

Hi everyone! I'm excited to be joining you all on this cruise. Our party is myself, my husband, our two boys (12 and 14) and my in-laws. This is the second Disney cruise for my in-laws, the 4th for the rest of us. We are really looking forward to it!

I have two questions for you all.... first, is anyone worried about announcing to the facebook world your real name and the dates you will be on your cruise by joining the facebook group? Not that we have anything worth stealing, and we have a dog sitter staying at our house anyway...maybe I am just paranoid? Am I misunderstanding how the fb group works? I feel like I am missing out by not being in the group but it makes me a bit uncomfortable to put my life out there like that.

Second, have any of the concierge/gold/platinum members noticed if there are any cabanas left? My hubby and his Dad *really* want one - they need the shade and quiet place! If anyone has one booked but changes your mind, please let me know and I will be happy to take it off your hands and buy you a drink on the ship to show my appreciation!

We are avid Disney fans and have been on quite a few DCL cruises. But this will be our honeymoon and we are very excited!!

First Welcome Aboard our awesome cruise group!

As far as the Facebook page, it is exactly as Flower had described. It is set to "private" so the only people who will see what you post will be our group. Your personal page you have to set up can be set as you would like. It is not required to join the Facebook page if you don't want to, however we are much more active there with a lot of information. Here is the link if you are interested:

As far as the Cabanas. They are booked. We will be joining the wait list once we board as we are looking for one too.

I understand where you are coming from. My husband is a police officer and I'm a 911 dispatcher and we are all the time hearing of break ins and concerned about the crazy's. But I have my profile set up where only my 'friends' can see what I post and like Tessasmom stated this is a private group and only the ones invited in can see it. I would hope that only my true friends and family members know my address and if those people decide to break into my house we will find out plus the only thing valuable in my house is my family pictures. Other than that I'm excited about our cruise and I'm ready to be sailing away!! :beach:

I didn't realize that you were in MB! We're just down the road from you.

Kick back and enjoy- days are shrinking!

I have a feeling there will be quite a few police officers on this trip lol. on our last Fantasy trip the wife and I left the front door UNLOCKED for the week. When I got home and found the door unsecured I had to "clear" the house. Not the best feeling in the world but it turned out alright. This was in south Florida. Best advice is maybe your local Police department to have a "watch order" on your house for the week. That might ease your mind a bit :thumbsup2

Does anyone else have trip specific door magnets they want to share. I have a few if you are interested.

Are you a police officer as well??

Yes, I recommend if anyone is worried about their house definitely call the local police and get a "Keep Check" (that's what we call them here).

I do not have any door magnets but would love to have some, I am an avid magnet collector on any of our vacations!!

Yes not far from ya at all!! My in-laws are coming too, they are in Rock Hill (where we are originally from). They are not 'electronic-advanced' people, they don't get on the internet that much.

The cruise will be here before we know it!!

Requested add for the Facebook group too :)

99.9% sure we will be on this cruise....celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and my birthday :cheer2:
Watching & waiting to see if VGT rates are released after the 75 day PIF date ...finger's crossed!

This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise:cool1:
Dec 2011- Dream/3nt Bahamas
Dec 2012-Fantasy/7nt Western Caribbean

Can not wait to start our last minute planning! Hoping to also join the FE group once we book, but will likely not know our stateroom # until right before we depart!

My husband and I (fifty somethings) are excited to be on this ship and cruise. I can hardly wait!! I have put off looking on here because I've never been any good in these forums. I tend to get confused in here. Facebook is more user friendly to me. ;) That being said, I saw that you have a Facebook group, and requested to join there. If I only participate in facebook, will I be missing out on any fun or important information here?
This will be our second cruise, we were on the Dream last January, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We loved it so much, we booked this cruise while on board the Dream.
Is anyone planning on doing the Castaway Cay 5K? I didn't even know they had the 5K until it was too late for me to participate on the last cruise. I want to make sure I get to do it this time. Have any of you done it before, and if so, do you have any details, advice, etc? Thanks!

Welcome aboard!
I know that Tessa'sMom will be along to hook you up if she hasn't been here already. She's so on top of things- and nobody feels left out either.

We've got a lot going on, but it should all be posted at the beginning of this thread- as well as the Facebook page.

We're a friendly bunch- relax, kick back and enjoy!

Definitely agree with Flower-we are a friendly group. Our FB group is extremely friendly. Alot of folks our age in the FB groupQ Welcome aboard!

How awesome to be celebrating your anniversary! Congratulations! I'm hoping you are one of the many new people we have welcomed in the FB group in the last few days. If not, please do so here! You will not miss anything here, I tend to be on FB more. Thanks!

I don't know the dining rotation for the length of the cruise. But I know pirate night will be the night we go to St Maarten. Per the itinerary it looks like that will be day 4. Hope that helps some :)

As there are 3 main dining rooms, it depends on where you start. However, it's easiest to book whatever Palo event that she can online, and once she goes through check-in and receives her dining rotation- she can move her reservation to whichever night she needs (pending availability).

They only release so many slots for Palo/Remy online. There are more on embarkation day if you need to move a booking or book a new reservation.

Palo is smaller now with the addition of Remy to the two newer ships.

Tell her good luck! And if she hasn't gone to the Facebook page for this cruise, she might want to. All she has to do is go here and request to join:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/359332857421614/

It shouldn't take long to get approved, and we've got all sorts of fun events planned!

I wrote down the expected rotation while talking to the concierge a while back. When I find the book I wrote it down in I'll post it.

I didn't know they had excursions for teens on Castaway. I have a 18 yr old with me but idk what she will do there. Do they have excursions for 4 yr olds??
