November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

First time to WDW and I think I've gone nuts! We got our Mickey Mail and I'm going through every tiny item. I have been stalking ADRs, too! We got CRT and Chef Mickey at the 180 mark, but I had no idea of the rest of the options and need to book - thank goodness for this thread.

So the latest -I landed a ressie at Akershus for 11/12, at 12:25. I thought it would be a great start to our week when I saw it pop up, but now I am worried we won't make it! Any idea of what transfer time is from MCO to Disney on the Magical Express?

Picked up Mickey Mail from the Travel Agent last night. The kids still have NO idea! Hopefully the next 21 days we can still keep it a secret. We'll be waking the kids up for school on Wednesday the 14th and telling them we are going to Disney right now. :cool1:

Ahhhh. We are leaving on the 14th as well. Checking my little one out at noon from school and announcing we are on our way to the airport. I am sooooo excited!

We are going to be there the same week and are eating at all of the same restaurants but on different days. The only exception is we are eating at akershus on 11/12 but we are doing a late breakfast/early lunch at 11.

Hope y'all have a great trip!!!

I cook the traditional turkey dinner for my family. We have 3 grown children and 2 of them will be able to be here this Thanksgiving. Unfortunately none of them can come to Disney this year. My oldest was prepared to come but he has a new job opportunity and didn't want to lose it. I can't blame him. Now I have to ride the rollercoasters with dd and I'm not looking forward to that. Ha Ha!

That's too funny, since I'm the one leading the way to the roller coasters in my family!!!:lmao:

MICKEYMAIL!! MICKEYMAIL!!!! Here I come Tigger!

Congrats on your first trip to Disney!!!:yay:

As far as your ADR list, it looks pretty good. However, I was wondering about two things. First, on the 13th you're eating at Boma and then 3 hours later at Kona Cafe? Boma is a buffet and when we eat there, we don't eat another thing all night! Also, 11/17 seems a little meal heavy, but that may be just because I don't eat 3 big meals a day. Also, I'm assuming you have park hoppers or APs since you're eating in HS for breakfast and then MK for lunch and dessert.

Anyway, hope all works out for you and you have a magical first trip! Be sure to get your 1st trip buttons when you arrive and wear the proudly!;)

ETA: You asked about transfer time from MCO on ME. It varies, but in my personal experience, it has never taken more than 60 minutes from the time we land to when we get to our resort. And we've used it every year since its inception. But I always allow double that when making ressies since it does vary greatly. We've always been the first resort stop instead of the last and not hit any bad traffic or accidents on the way. Then there's how long it takes at check in as well as checking your carry-ons with bell services and waiting for a bus to get you to the park you need to get to. The actual distance from MCO to WDW is about 30 minutes. Hope this helps!

30 days!!! Im getting nervous! I have the bows done and shirts done but now im waiting on pettiskirts to finish a shirt. Ugh! Iv done the planning and booking. I cancelled ressies i didnt need. Now i just have to laminate park cards and stuff for our window. I have to figure out how to attach the mickey christmas lights to our stroller and pack and i think im done! Why does it feel like crunch time?!?!? Ugh! I dont even get the suitcases out for another week and start packing in 3 weeks! But. WE ARE ALL GOING TO DISNEY!!!!!

Thank Lois! I wasn't sure about Boma - heard great things as far as a AK experience but didn't know about the food. Since we got 'Ohana, maybe we'll let Kona go and do AK that day.

The info about ME is really helpful. I am going to keep trying to get a different Akershus ressie, but I know it would start off our Week O' Disney on a great note. Maybe if I called they could push us back just a bit?? Decisions, decisions......

18 days - wheeeeee!

It does seem like it is all of a sudden here. Kind of scary isn't it? But in a very good way!! :goodvibes

What is everyone's thoughts about on line check in?

I've never done it before but will be trying it for POR because we have no requests but not for AoA because we'll check in at 8 but don't need the room until about 7 at night and I really want top floor facing the lake.

I want to try it, but I have no idea when we will be arriving. DD's BFF is coming along with us, and her mom hasn't told us how much of the school day on Thursday (if any) she needs to attend. If we can leave early, we will be checking in around 3pm. If we leave NC after a half day of school, we will arrive around 9pm. If we have to wait until after school, we won't be getting to the hotel until midnight. Once I know for sure, I can go online and check in.

about online check in, does that mean your room is ready if you get there early? What are the chances of getting a request once you get there? Is ti better for 1st timer to check in at hotel and skip online??

You have made some great choices, but on the 13th and 17th I wouldn't think that you would need three ADR's that close. So much food! :)

No, it just means you are checking in now, instead of waiting in line to check in. There is no promise of the room being ready in either circumstance, especially if you are an earlier arrival for the day.

I used it both times we went so far with no problems. The first time, I had a ground level room request when we did POFQ and got that with no problem. The second time, we did WL, and I requested a "Wishes" view room, i.e. North Woods where if you are sixth floor you can see the castle a little, and they actually upgraded us to a king bed room overlooking the pool area, LOL. Once we got there and I explained what we were aiming for, they were no problem changing it back so we got our request. I have found both times the online check in was a shorter line. This time we are "Club Level" so I have no idea how that works differently with online check in.
