November 2, 2013 - Disney Fantasy 7 night Eastern - Cruise Meet

Welcome TornadoNut!

You can still sign up once you board for some events and excursions. You'll need to check the Navigator as to the location when you check in at the port.

If you haven't already, you should log onto DCL website and check out the planning information and do the on-line check in.

Thanks! I'll be sure to do that. Like I said, this is my family's first time so I'm a little anxious about it.

Welcome aboard, no worries, it was everyone's first cruise once. I wish we had access to all this info back in 2000 when we went on the Wonder. Ask whatever you need to. If you want you will find a large group of us on a Facebook group planning meet ups and shenanigans! Welcome to the Party!

BWT Tornandonut, We are putting you in charge of weather. We would like to see 85° sunny and no tropical disturbance heading to the Caribbean in the next 3 weeks :)

hello all! We just booked this cruise yesterday. This is our 5th Disney cruise and our 2nd on the fantasy. I am having a little fish extender withdraw which is why i have not posted yet. I am usually the person planning fish extender for the group so its hard to not be doing it all this year. Does anyone know if anyone has dropped off last minute and there's an open spot? if not I'll just wait till next year...:sad1: there are 3 of us sailing.

Welcome to the Fun! Not sure about FE lists. Look us up on Facebook, that is where the list and meet ups have taken a life of its own.

:thumbsup2:beach:

LOL I will do my best. I'm just a message boy though, not a delivery boy. :)

I'll be fairly easy to spot on the cruise. Just look for the guy wearing the Weather-themed t-shirts.

I can't believe our trip is so close.:cool1: I plan on watching my sister ( Ziva ) leave port via the web cam.:wave2: Then be there to see her bring back our ship.pixiedust: I have glow sticks and other glow things so she can see us.:p:yay: I can't wait.

Another Hicks family on the same cruise???? What are the odds when we aren't even related???

Thanks! I'll be sure to do that. Like I said, this is my family's first time so I'm a little anxious about it.

My best advice (according to me):

Layout everything you are going to pack then put at least 1/2 of it back in your closet. You won't need it and it is crazy how even after you put 1/2 back you will still over pack.

Leave all towels of all kinds at home -they take up too much space and not necessary as they are readily available all over the ship.

Pack sea bands and Bonine(Bonine does not make you sleepy like Dramamine). If you are prone to motion sickness talk to your doctor in advance and request a patch you can wear behind your ear. I don't typically get sea sick - but my very first time on the ship - we hadn't even left port and we were eating lunch and I started to feel queasy. Your body will adjust, but it is just better to stay ahead of the game - AND you can never predict the weather. Last December we have horribly rough seas the first 3 days of the trip (all at sea days). It was so rough that even the crew said it was the roughest sailing they had had only second to hurricane Sandy.

Most importantly - get ready to enjoy one of the best vacations ever.

Just a few thoughts from me. - Leslie

Haven't been as active on the site as I was on our last two cruises. Looks like you've all done a great job of putting together a great group.
Flying out in two weeks from today....it's getting so close I can smell the sea water.

In just two weeks will be enjoying our first night on board. Today I watched the Fantasy sail away on the PC webcam, we're all getting so excited. :yay::sail::beach::woohoo:

Good afternoon all,
It is now less then 315 hours until we all set sail on our Fantasy Cruise and I was wondering if anyone has mentioned anything about a possible meet and greet. This will be the first time my DW and I have sailed on the Fantasy so if there is anyone familiar with the Fantasy maybe he or she can recommend an area and time that we can all meet. We have usually done this about a half an hour before the lifeboat drill. I've done this before on other Disney cruises and it's always nice to be able to place a face with a name. It's amazing how many friendships have started with meets like this...
I'll even take a picture of all of us together and post it on the DIS...

Counting the hours...that's impressive. Can't believe it's so close after waiting so long...

Just booked today! Been wanting to do this cruise for months but needed to wait for the CM list. We won't know room # or category until probably the day before which is a killer for a planner but we will be celebrating our 5th anniversary and are super excited!

Evening folks!

Sorry, I'm new here, and my family and I will be taking our first DCL adventure on the Fantasy. In reading over the chocolate fantasy, that might be something my family and I are interested in. It would just be my wife and I, as my 4 year old is obviously too young. We did notice when we were looking at activities and such many of them were all booked. Are there waiting lists, or do they open up additional spots when people board?

For those of you who are experienced cruisers, is there anything we should do, or anything we should avoid? We booked our cruise recently, so we have yet to receive anything from DCL. My family and I are very new to cruising (it will be my first time!) so please forgive me if I ask something which seems a little off.

Quick little info about the family - as my name sort of indicates, I'm into weather, as I work for the local tv station as part of their on-air staff. My better half works for the school district, and then we have on 4yo son.

Hi TornadoNut! You'll receive a Navigator at the terminal. There will be information on where to sign up for the various tastings and where to go to get a Palo or Remy reservation. I'm not sure when the Excursions desk opens up, but you can go there to see if there are any openings for any excursions you might be interested in, if you haven't reserved them already on line. You can also visit the kid's clubs to see how they're laid out and see if your son would like to hang out there. Seems the kids really like the clubs.

As ladybug23 recommended - pack 1/2. Or to expand, "take 1/2 as many clothes and twice as much money!" And DO NOT try to do it all. You have to leave something for the next cruise! :rotfl:

I love your avatar. Reminds me of our favorite one word line from a movie . . . "COW". One word and my wife and I immediately know what the other is thinking.

I just called for the movie list during this cruise for anyone interested:

Muppets, Avengers, Brave, Nemo, Oz, Lone Ranger, Iron Man 3, Wreck it Ralph, Monsters University, Planes and the premier of Thor which will have a midnight showing. One of the movies will be in 2d and 3d, I just can't remember which one.

Hi there! I know this is a big stretch....but we are most likely going to be booking this cruise in the next day or so. I know, SO last minute! Is it possible to get on the FE list? I know not everyone will be able to accomodate, but if some could, that would be GREAT! It was my kids favorite part of our last cruise. There are 4 of us...2 kids...I mainly just care about getting stuff for them. I will accommodate everyone on the list if we can get on. THANK YOU in advance!!
Nichole
