November 15, 2008 7 night Western 11/15/08 11-15-08

For those of you who might be interested, there is a shuttle launch scheduled for November 14th...of course, that might change, but for now it's November 14th at about 7:55pm.

Oh wow I wish we had booked to stay in the Cocoa Beach area. Wouldn't it be great if it was re-scheduled for the 15th at 4pm

As I understand it, you can see it from the parks and it's a night launch so it should be even easier for you to see!!!

I don't want to jinx anything yet..................but, my DH works at Boeing and is working his magic on getting us VIP tickets. The rest of our group are holding their breath.

This would be a start of a great dream vacation!!!!

One month. I cant wait:yay:

Let's all post when we receive our documents. People started receiving them from the 11/8 cruise.

We received our cabin assignments today. We are a party of 4 adults and 2 children. We booked Cat 12 GTY and were upgraded to CAT 10, cabins 1049 and 1053. I am very happy with the cabins but noticed that the cabin between us (cabin 1051) is adjoining to 1053. Do you think there is a chance the occupants of 1051 would want to switch so our group can have adjoining cabins?

Please understand I realize that the people may have requested 1051 and I completely understand if they do not to trade but though it would not hurt to ask.

So if your in 1051 or know who is, are you interested?

Thanks in advance.

I just checked and we got our cabin assignment.
Cat 11, #6049.
We booked at Cat 12.
Im very happy about our location.

That sounds fantastic!!! Sadly the chances of the launch staying on the 14th are pretty darn slim. It was on the 7th, then the 6th, then the 10th then the12th then the 16th then the 14th....

We'll keep our fingers crossed!! There aren't very many launches left in the Shuttle Program...

We got ours. 2022. Right next to the rest of our party, which is good and bad, ya know?

The previous slips to this launch were based on the one before it, STS-125. Now that STS-125 has been postponed to 2009, they were able to move 126 back up to Nov. 14. There is currently nothing standing in the way of an on time launch. Unforseen problems do crop up, but the date is no longer pushed up against the one before it, where any delay to 125 means a delay to 126.

Help! I'm new to this posting world and all I could figure out how to do was respond! how do I do a new thread to introduce myself and ask questions?
Sometimes I feel so old and out of touch :)
Do I just reply?

Hi Funkemorgan
If you just want to join in with the thread press the 'post reply' button. If you want to reply to something specific, press 'quote' as I have done.
If you are wanting to start a new thread to ask a question on the main cruise board for example, click on 'new thread'
Are you joining us next month?
Sue:goodvibes
Also the quickest way to find a thread you have been responding to, is to click on 'user cp' on the top left hand corner

Thanks!

Yes, I am joining you next month. Our family is having a bit of a reunion. It will be my parents, My Brother, My brother and his family, My sister and her boyfriend and my family, my husband and daughter. We are all very excited.

Questions:

Is there a way to know what restaurant you will be eating at on which days before you get on the boat?

Has anyone been to Animal Kingdom and how much time do you think you need to see it?

Can't believe I just found this thread. My husband actually found it. At least I came on with less than a month to wait!

The DIS boards are fantastic, there are so many helpful people waiting to answer your questions. I also have a Passporter book which has been invaluable, I would recommend buying it.
I think you may be able to ring DCL and ask which dining rotation you have closer to the time.
I would suggest a full day at Animal Kingdom if you wanted to do and see everything. We have whizzed round in half a day but we only go on Everest, safari and watch the Lion king show

My kids are excited they may get to see the shuttle launch, although we will be cutting it close. Our plane lands a little after 6, by the time we get our luggage and to the Radisson, it may well be gone. I wonder there will be more traffic going out that night, or everyone should be in their spots by then. Hopefully we can see it at least from the road!

Thanks Sue! You've been a big help already! I looked into the Passporter book and now I'm excited to get it. We live in the country so I'm having my Mom in the city pick it up for me tonight!

I am a newbie myself and still have lots of questions. Others on this thread have cruised several times, so just keep asking questions and I'm sure they will be answered.

At least all the traffic will be going in the opposite direction to you!

I'm off to bed now, see you all SOON

There's another thread talking about a 5K on CC at 8:30 in the morning. Any runners out there interested in going? I just started running again this summer. I can do 2.5 miles and am gonna try for the 3 mile mark (or 5K) before the trip. Apparently they let you off the ship an hour early for the run.

Anyone else interested?

I am suffering bad achilles tendons...but they're not so bad I won't run a 5k!!

Kennedy may want to run too!

Where do I sign up?
