OK here's my Question Of The Day:

What is the PERFECT moment to arrive at the port for a walk-right-on-the-ship arrival? When is that moment in time where all the early birds have checked in and the DCL busses haven't arrived yet? How long after noon is it that group 7 or so is called to board? I'm figuring it is some time between 12:20 and 1P....whadda you think?

Since we are staying at AKL the night before, I don't want to race out the door that morning....want to enjoy the resort a bit....especially since we are now having dinner Friday night at Victoria & Albert instead of Boma....we'll lose a couple of hours of soaking up the ALK ambiance because of that.

Of course, arriving at the terminal BEFORE noon, means meeting and playing with you guys who are there early. Ah, such a delima! Help us people...help us strike the balance between enjoying a resort we paid hard earned $$$ for and starting our cruise adventure with all of you!

I don't know. I'll be there early, because that is just the way I am. Plus, we'll drive partial way down Friday night and only have a couple hours left on Sat. morning. We'l probably be in a Hampton Inn on the interstate so lingering in the morning will not be particularly tempting. If I were at the AKL, I would not rush. How late will DCL let you catch the bus--or will you have a car? I never like to risk 'missing the ship' and being stressed on the way, so early is the way to go for me.

Once we finally arrive, I relax and my husband and I like eachother again.

Jennifer

Shelly...what a nice grad photo of your family!

We'll be at the port early (on the first shuttle from the Radisson), just because we can and we've never cruised before. So, of course, I have no knowledge of when is the best time to arrive, but I vote for come early and hang out with Jennifer's family and mine! (Ok, that was NOT helpful, I know...) What is there to do at AKL that you want to do?

So... you have that sort of relationship too?! :rotfl:

We'll arrive at the port early. We'll be at the Residence Inn the night before, and I believe we have to be out of our room by 11am anyway. So... we'll hang out at the port and let the kids explore and get to meet other kids. We'll be the family in lime green! :goodvibes

Sorry, Jackie and Peggy Jo... I guess I'm of no help either! I just can't wait to see the ship, be in the port, and start the fun! :hourglass

Wendy...how do you get your husband to wear dis green?? I've been trying to think of a matching outfit mine would wear, but I think the problem will the fact that they match! (Ok, if they were matching Pink Floyd or Day of Defeat shirts, mayybbeee.....)

Is your whole group of 16 (I think that's the number..) going early to the port?

Carolyn

My sister will be up at 4:00 a.m. ready to go - and wanting me up and out ready to head to the ship. Yes, the AKL is a wonderful resort, no doubt (my first time) and I'll have major trouble containing her - trust me - if I know her (and I do) we'll be heading to the port at 11:01 - right after check out!

Remind me to tell you the story of my friend Trishs' (never mind I'll just tell you) alarm clock going off in the middle of the night on one trip... her and Jackie in WDW (I believe) - anyway, Trish sets her alarm so they can hit the park running first crack of bells, well, for some reason the alarm clock went off at 2:00 a.m. instead - and Jackie wakes up from a dead sleep - sits BOLTY upright and yells -
YES!
Trish - rolls over, looks at the clock and say's "no" - the alarm went off early it's only 2:00 a.m. My sister - has to fall back asleep and wait several more hours.

Yes - true story ladies and gentlemen!

She is the one STILL TO THIS DAY to wake up before the rooster on Christmas morning... and YES - she's 5? something years old!:cheer2:

Frankly - I would be surprised if ANYONE has ever met any person with more JOY - than my sister!

What an awesome thing to say about someone! Personally, I can't wait to meet both of you. :)

Carolyn - My husband actually has 2 lime green shirts (1 polo style, and the other a button up one). Actually, most of the guys in our group have Old Navy Ringer T's in a variety of green. All the boys in youth sizes match, and many of the men & teen guys match each other (this is more a problem for the teen guys than for the men). :confused3 As for arrival time at the port... at least 9 of us will arrive at about the same time. One family of 4 is staying with family in FL (on the Tampa side) the night before and will be driving across the state that morning (so... everything totally depends on the traffic situation that day). Not sure when to expect Betsy (Needalatte) and family, they are going to MGM that morning for a special soap opera event so will not likely leave WDW until noonish. We'll all meet up on the boat though! For two families in our group, this will be their first Disney Cruise. :cheer2:

Now that the DL trip is over... can't wait for the cruise! Guess I have to pay off the balance first though... :teeth:

. . . we are now having dinner Friday night at Victoria & Albert . . .

We have yet to dine at V&A, but friends have told us it is an exquisite dining experience. Do not schedule anything afterward, do not look at your watch every 15 minutes (it is not a race), and savor every moment you are there. If you have any dietary issues, it is wise to call and let them know in advance.

If V&A is not expensive enough already, it used to offer a special "Chef's Table" or "Chef's Kitchen" (I'm not sure if they still do) where the chef meets with you, then prepares a unique meal tailored to your palate.

Don't worry about rushing to the port the next day. We'll save some chicken tenders for you.

Bon appetit!

I might have to go to Ca. That is amazing. It looks just like Johny Deep. WOW

DW went on the Pirates of the Caribbean yesterday. As you are in the queue -- after you enter the building and before you board the boats -- they have added fresco paintings of the movie characters from POC.

Then on the ride, there are three scenes with Captain Jack Sparrow.

Without giving anything away, the best part is the special effect with fog.

I can't wait, I can't wait - 7/14 DL & POC HERE WE COME!!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

:wave2: Just wanted to jump in and say Hello to all fellow cruisers. I had checked in shortly after we rebooked onboard our May 2005 cruise but have been absent for quite awhile due to Baby #2. My SIL, "Kaykels", has kept me updated and I'm now getting back in touch with my "Disney self"! :)
It's been a long wait between cruises but we're really looking forward to November! It'll be quite the celebration cruise as we celebrate our 9th anniversary, DH's b-day and DD's 1st birthday.

159 pages.... I'll try to catch up!

My congrats. to both of you.

OMG...i can't wait!!!! i have worked like a demon for 2 weeks and have $$$ to pay off my crusie!!! i just need my TA to call me back so ican pay it off!!!

DL was okay but i like WDW better....to be honest, we we there 3 days and saw less than 10 characters total...my kids were very disappointed...also, pin trading did not seem as big a deal there...very few CM's had them on :confused3

we loved DCA!!! the Aladdin show was AWESOME!!! we almost went and saw it again...it is almost like a broadway production! a hint if you have kids that you let run around by themselves....my kids figured out about the "singles" line really fast, a line where you wait very little compared to the long line but you ride whenever they have an open space....my kids road Screamin about 5 times each in 30 min while the reg line was about 1 hr...

I can't wait my self. Next week I am going to try and up grade I hope I there is something still avable.

Devin, I was checking out our cruise just the other day, and there seemed to still be something in all catagories.

TiggerzFan don't worry about catching up.....just jump in! Or at least just read this YEAR...hehe. And by the way.....WHERE IS YOUR Sister-in-law??????

Hi Everyone
Sorry I haven't checked in all week. We have visitors from NY and have been hanging out at WDW. Sat we leave for camping at Fort Wilderness, so I will be gone for another week. Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July.

That video of POC really was neat!

Congrats to your son, Shelly. What's that CD thing with his diploma?

Jennifer

It is his employability report that has his resume on it along with other stuff. He finished high school with an online charter school so I don't know if they do this type of report at other schools. I am still amazed at the level of education and professionalism this school uses. I would recommend this avenue to anyone who the traditional school setting is not working for. Tough classes and wonderful teaching staff. Ok, rambling now!
