. . . Also if anybody who is considering the Thursday lunch, but doesn't want to have their name or room number on the DIS Navigator can just let me know their room number and I'll make sure they get the reminder note. Those details will be worked out later when I ask for a list.

Good idea. But we should get a firm commitment XX days before the cruise, so we can ask DCL in advance to set aside a section for us at Lumiere's.

If anyone in our group is on the concierge level, they can ask the concierge to leave voice mail messages for everyone on the list too.

Hello Everyone!

I have been reading the boards here and there but have decided to finally post a message :)

My family and I (DH, 6 yr old DS & 3 yr old DD) will be taking the 11/11/06 cruise as well and it is our FIRST Disney Cruise! We are all very excited - especially since we started our countdown at 565 days!!! We booked VERY early with the close friends we are cruising with (& co Disney Fanatics :)) - HA HA!

We cannot wait for the cruise and looking forward to meeting new freinds! :yay:

I know there are a ton of pages to go through, so I was wondering if you have more info on the bracelets and buttons. I can look back but thought I might save some hours by checking again :)

Thanks so much!!
:bounce:

The buttons are simple. Screen name along the top with your real name along the bottom with the lime green mickey head in the middle. If you or a family member doesn't have a screen name we can still do something. For example my boys don't have screen names so their buttons would be Shelwoj & Wojo's son along the top and their name along the bottom. I am also offering the option of the cruise date or no date on them. Real name is not a necessity either just helpful to us with memory impairment! Just let me know. :teeth:

:tinker:

:guilty: How rude of me to not say Welcome Yonkrs girl! This is a great group of people and we are all going to have a BLAST!! :cheer2:

Oh, now that IS COOL! I believe the lovely and talanted HannoMom is concierge, perhaps she will be willing to assist in this matter ;)

Hi! I try to catch this thread when I can, but I can't "review" because it takes so long for the pages to load (dialup, you know). I wish I knew all of y'all better.....
Okay, that being said, does anyone want to eat with us on the cruise?!!? I have no idea how it works or how to do it, but I would love to link dinner ressies with other DISers to avoid last year's scenario. It was nothing horrific--the other couple had boys the same age as our daughters, which was nice, but none of them spoke any English!! We tried hand gestures or finding words they recognized, but it didn't work really well and, well, it just felt like work!! I just felt uncomfortable sitting in such close proximity to people I didn't know night after night and not being able to talk with them.
So, if you might like to eat with us, here are our particulars: I'm a stay-at-home mom of "advanced maternal age" (!!), my husband is a German (and also a hottie!!), we have two daughters, one five and one who turns 3 the week of the cruise. My hubbie is a self employed carpenter. We live in a rural area of a rural state. (But we won't be picking our teeth during supper, I promise!!) I have no idea how to link ressies, but if someone would like to, please let me know and I'll learn!

Not to worry...I got the scoop from a previous DIS group on how it was arranged with DCL. I talk to my Head Server Sat night to determine which 'team' handles Luminere's on Thurs and he/she arranges it with that head server, whom I contact on Wed if we need to 'tweek' the number.

Welcome, welcome Yonkrs Girl and family!!!

Miatamel....I had that AMA (advanced maternal age) 'diagnosis' on a lab slip for an ultrasound when I was pregnant with DD5! DH thought it was pretty amusing...me, not so!! Are you early or late seating for dinner??

Ok, I am a sucker for compliments, ;) I will do it :goodvibes .

Welcome, Yonkrs_Girl and family!

Question of the day/week: Not really a question. Share something that others might not know about cruising on DCL.

The yummy mango soup, served on the embarkation buffet, is not served the rest of the cruise, (at least I haven't been able to find it) so be sure to try it on Saturday.

Clynne, we are late seating (of course!) wait listed for first but not holding our breath. But I'm one of those that doesn't really mind late seating. I thought it was going to be awful on our first cruise last November, but you get so busy I really didn't pay any attention. I don't think the girls made it thru one complete meal though...
Yeah, I saw "AMA" on my chart one day and thought "Now why is he is writing about the American Medical Association on my chart? Am I some kind of test case?? 36 isn't THAT old for my first kid!!" So when I asked and he told me what it meant, I wasn't sure if I was relieved or insulted! I later decided I was insulted!!

I would say you can always join our large group (of 16) for dining (there's always room for one more.. or 4 more... ) but we are early seating. We are just as AMA as you, but unlike you I can't promise there would be no tooth picking (or burping for that matter) at supper. You see we have a TON of boys linked with our dining group (2 almost 13yo, 1-11 yo, 3-10 yo, 1-6 yo, and 1-4 yo). If all goes as we hope, we'll end up with a kid table next to an adult table (so we don't have to share dessert with them). :teeth:

Now.... for the question of the week: Hmmm  Well...these boards pretty much answered all our questions before our first cruise. :thumbsup2 For some humor though... I'd suggest taking a look at the thread "Things you would never hear on DCL"

Wow, someone else who enjoyed it. My DGD and I had it for lunch on embarkation and then again that night at dinner. It was the only thing that soothed her upset tummy.

Mitamel....We are also early seating and we are a group of 20+, but you are still welcome if you want to come to early seating. We only have 3 kids, 5months, 5 years and 10 years old.

I may have to try it this time. Love mango, but never been brave enough to try a cold soup (for that matter, never been brave enough to try a fruit soup). :confused3

You will love it.

Congrats on the final payment. Gosh I am cheap. I will not pay it off a day to soon becasue I do not want to lose the possible penny in interest. I need help :teeth:

Linda...can't answer your question...I could make something up, but someboday out there might be paying attention and call me on it later!:) I'll just have to wait until we get that first cruise under our belts (I guess that means I have to go buy one, huh chat ladies?) and get back to you on that. (Mango soup sounds surprisingly yummy...I'll look for it!)

Miatamel...we have early seating...sorry... My first thought on the AMA was Against Medical Advice, like if you're trying to leave the hospital without a doctor's ok...

Dee? Wendy? If we are link-less, can we hone in on your party? (Jackie and Peggy said we weren't too obnoxious when we honed in on their DL trip...They could have been misrepresenting the truth to be polite, though...probably should check with them!)

Yeah, Wendy, on paying off your cruise!!!

Actually, the reason for getting it done so soon is because our TA's office will be moving about the time it officially needs to be paid off, and we don't want to be unable to connect with her at that point to pay it off. Our money has been in savings for many months collecting interest! Maybe enough for a few extra drinks.... :teeth:

party:

Guess I accidentally posted before I was through typing... :confused3

I think you just have to call DCL to add to our link of travelers. I think you already have our last name, and all of the travel info was booked in my name (since I seemed to be the one with free time on my hands to plan stuff).

Carolyn..if 16 people in Wendy's group is not enough you can link with my 20+. I say the more the merrier.
