Nov trip, when to book air to get the best deal?

We have trip to the world planned for Nov 14 - 23, when is the best time to book air? We have gone for that time frame for the last 2 years and have booked air 4 - 6 weeks out, is this a good idea? Also, we are thinking of flying SW, any codes out there?

My friend and I will be there Nov 15-22, and got our tickets already thru SW, we got the Wanna Get Away fare of $173.80 rt each, it went up $5, I just checked recently. We booked our flight a couple weeks ago, can't wait, WOOHOO!

We are going down Oct30-Nov7 and I booked SW going down in July. My return dates were not open yet on the SW website so round trip purchase was not possible. Well, we got a good price down of $79 but I had to check rates constantly at least 2x a day. For the return home flight. Horrors!...the rates on SW are out of touch and have only gone up and not down. Range $189-$239. I have since booked on Delta for $69.00 and I'll be happy to pay for 2 bags at $50. It's not my preference but the savings speak for themselves.
My point is: start looking and look often. Rates at SW fluctuate most noticably on Mondays and Tuesdays. We are frequent flyers on SW but this time money talks.

We are going 10/28 thru 11/2 and have already booked flights with DL. Actually got a great non-stop rate out of CVG. I have noticed flights have been going up not down.

The airlines have cut back on fights and the planes are fuller. Waiting until closer to the date isn't always the best strategy anymore. If there's a fare that you are comfortable with, book it. Your return date is 2 days before Thanksgiving, that might be a higher fare.
