nov 28, 2010 - 4 night cruise on wonder

Here's a mini-me trip report:

Saturday nite, my D-GF and I took her DS15 to Fish Lips for dinner. He has never been on a cruise before, but he was excited to watch both the Carnival Sensation and Disney Magic sail by. He expressed more than once that he would love to go on a cruise some day. My D-GF and I looked at each other and just grinned. At home, he had a suitcase packed for what he thought was a getaway to Tampa for 3 days.

Fast forward to Sunday morning. We headed off to "TAMPA" around 9:40am. I kept saying "I know I'm forgetting something. I know I am forgetting something." Right before the Beachline cruise terminal exit, I exclaimed "Oh No! I forgot my wallet!!" I turned the car toward the port to make a U-turn. We conveniently pointed out to DS15 that the other Disney ship had returned and decided we would go take a close look before we returned to get my wallet (which of course was in the back pocket of my pants).

DS15 was getting confused and antsy. He asked "Why are we going to park? Let's just go." He was not looking forward to the 2+ hour drive to Tampa. I drove up to spot where you drop off luggage - confusion mounting - and told everyone to get out. And then we told him. The porter could tell that DS15 was in a state of shock. He even asked if this was a surprise. We boarded the ship just before noon and headed straight to the Beach Blanket Buffet. DS15 was like someone with a blind disability getting the sense of sight for the first time. It was truly the beginning of a WONDERFUL vacation!

Hey everyone. Sorry we missed you at the Dismeet, but between breakfast, princess gatherings, Tangled, and Snow White Do Si Do, it got lost in the planning.

Needless to say, we did get on the ship, but with no hassle. We were so relieved. For the thrilling tail, please read the thread on the main DCL forum.

We are home in VA. We drove through and got home about 10 last night. I hope everyone has safe travels.

We had a great time. Just got home today to find very cold weather for atlanta. Talk about wanting to go back. It was great to meet everyone and we will post pictures later in the week. Can we leave again this Sunday?

Hi all

Just wanted to say Thank you for all the FE gifts. I was amazed at what people put together! It was such a treat for David to come back to the room, and find something there! It was amazing how well timed out it was, that it seemed like there was always something there!

After the cruise, we left (in the cold!) to go to Orlando, where we picked some fresh oranges and pomelos. Then spent some time at Universal Studios!

Drove to Jacksonville Friday night and the rest of the way on Sat. Got to Virginia, and we were greeted by snow showers! Good thing we had 2 happy dogs to come home to!

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks again, and hope everyone has a magical holiday season!

We didn't get to go to the meet either but we had a great time on the cruise! The gifts were all wonderful, you guys are great. Thanks for helping to make our first cruise a memorable one! Can't wait to see everyone's pics!

We flew home last night to snow! WHat a change - I even had my flip flops still on! We went straight from the cruise to AKL which was CHILLY!!!! The animals didn't even want to come out! Thanks to all for their awesome FE gifts. We had a great time and it was really nice to meet all of you! As my cute DS says "see ya suckers!" (btw, when I told my dh that story, he just laughed and laughed - I swear I have two kids, not one - dh DID teach him that saying! and had never been so proud to hear he said it!)
