So since this upcoming visit to Disney will be for our Honeymoon, we wanted to splurge and go with the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan, I think we are decided on staying at POFQ.

We will be there from Nov. 12-19, so I am hoping that Saturday (the 12th) will be one of the days for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas, and we can just buy a ticket for that and hit MK as soon as we get there. Any idea how far in advance they announce those dates?

I do have a few questions concerning ADR's before I show you my "plan"! :goodvibes

When you make your reservations in advance- do you know what nights the Fantasmic/Illuminations/Wishes will be beforehand?

What if I book all my stuff at MGM and the Fantasmic package, and assume it is on a Tuesday... but really will be on a Wednesday? Or does Fantasmic run every night? What about daily schedules for Illuminations and Wishes?

Also, I will have to plan my days accordingly for the Mickey Very Merry Christmas Parade, for the rest of the week to make sure I am not in the MK after 7 on those nights!

How far in advance can you preview the extra magic hours? I would like to try to plan my days at those parks with the magic hours, and my dining.

If you'll notice, I try to keep the ADR's in one park for most of the day, because I would prefer to eat in the parks without having to go back and forth between resorts.

Disney Dining Plan

Sorry for such a long post!! Any ideas? Suggestions? Concerns?

Thanks so much!!

November 2011 park hours and schedule should be out at the beginning of May. Not sure when they release MVMCP dates. You should have a week or so to figure out which parks you want for which days before your ADR window opens. Fantasmic! and Wishes aren't every night, but Illuminations usually is.

I was there from Nov 12 -- 20 this year and MVMXP was only on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They don't do it on Saturdays (can't remember if they ever have in the past) but this year the MK was opened until 2am on Saturday night.

I believe the Christmas Parade is only when the MVMXP is going on. I know they had the ELP parade on the other nights.

Usually they have the calendar out 6 months ahead of time. But look on this website for the historical 2010 calendar so you can get an idea. Also, keep in mind that the F&W Festival at EPCOT will be having it's last weekend on the 11, 12, 13 of 2011 so try to stay away from EPCOT especially on Saturday night.

I will be going the same time Nov 11--19 2011. Have fun!!! And congrats!!!

You are correct! :)

This year from Nov 11--20, Wishes was on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday only. The other nights were when MVXMP occured.

F! was only on Sunday and Thursday, 2 shows each. That's it! I skipped it this year because I just didn't want to deal with the crowds.

IllumiNations was every night at 9pm.

Thank you so much! That is good to know the calendar about 6 months out! My date for ADRs is May 16th, so hopefully I will know by then!

According to the schedule for this year, if they keep it the same, I should be good for F! on Sunday!

Worse comes to worse, if the Mickey Christmas isn't on Saturdays, I will just make it a whole MK day, and get started early, and just not leave until its over!

I did see the Epcot F&W festival dates this year were on the dates I would be there next year, so I might have to work some things around for maybe going to Epcot on those days, but will have to see about when those dates come out.

Worse comes to worse, I will have the park hopper passes, so we could always just pop in a park for a dinner, and then leave or stay or whatever!

Awesome!!! :) We will be wearing our mickey groom and bride ears! Going to any of the same places as us??

How are the places we picked? Any suggestions or ideas?

I'm probably going to go by the schedule I did last year (avoid F!, EMH both morning and night) and it worked out great!!!!!!

This past year I did:
Fri 11/12 arrived, check in, MK until 7pm (closed for MVMXP)

Sat 11/13 AK, DTD

Sun 11/14 HS in the am, EP in the pm (ok...I know that it was the last day of the F&W....so I took a chance and I'm glad I did. We arrived around 4pm and it was packed...I though oh no...but we had dinner ressie's at Garden Grill at 5:40pm and after dinner walked back to WS for Illum....and guess what....the park was pretty much EMPTY!! Most locals headed home for work the next day).

Mon 11/15 EP in am MK in pm for fireworks, ELP

Tue 11/6 MK in am, EP in pm for IllumiNations

Wed 11/17 HS in am, MK in pm for ELP

Thu 11/18 AK in am , EP in pm for IllumiNations

Fri 11/19 MK (Keys to Kingdom Tour -- it was awesome!!) Was going to go to HS and see Osbourn but we were lazy and our feet hurt so we stayed at MK all day and then went to dinner at GF Cafe.

Sat 11/20 EP --departure day and this park worked out well. EP hold the crowds better and we arrived into WS at 11am and there was no one there until about 2/3 pm....FW was very, very busy!!!

So, we will do something similiar to that. We never had to wait for anything. Of course, we were super lazy and even did a FP for Splash (it only had a 25 minute wait). I know, I know

You have some great places that you will be eating at. You will have a great time. I was hoping that this year I would get the ring when we were down there but not yet......I'm waiting patiently!!

in november... fantastmic! starts at 6pm.

this means your dinner will either be at 4ish... or just do the lunch fantastmic package. you may want to do a breakfast and a fantastmic lunch that day :) mama melrose is awesome... and filling!! this should hold you over for a while. after hollywood studios closes, you can hop on the boat to the boardwalk or epcot and go to a bakery with your snacks, yumm!!! also, most places french fries are considered a snack... so if we skip over a meal because we're full, we use snacks for fries and we're normally good to go!

i have become a master at the dxddp :rotfl:... so if you have questions feel free to ask!

I love Beaches and Cream for some ice cream. Yummy....and the pastry shop at the Paris Pavillion.....yikes!!! Super yummy!!!! :cloud9:

Sounds like you had a great schedule!!! We will probably do something similar with skipping around when one park closes, and going to another or for the fireworks!

Thank you! :goodvibes I have been obsessing over this dining plan for weeks, and my trip is still so long away!! OH well, better to be prepared and May is not that far away for me to make my ADRs!

Awwww I hope you get your ring!!!! I waited a little over 6 years for mine, so it was much awaited!! That would be so wonderful to have that special moment in Disney!! :lovestruc

That's good to know that it is earlier, I didn't even think about the time change... :confused3 I would still def. want to do the Imagineer Lunch... is it worth it to do the Fantasmic dining, or should I just wait like everyone else? And I could always go to DDT for yummy snacks like you mentioned!

Thanks for your input! Haha... I will totally be bugging you about the dxddp for sure... :)

Oh...I'm sure you will be revising your schedule several hundred times like I do as they keep updating the schedule, park times, etc.

Have fun obessing like me ;)

haha.... so I am totally thinking about changing things already!!! I want to go to a character meal where I see Pluto (he is my favorite character!), and I notice he is at a few different places- as well as at Ohana.

I think I might go to Chef Mickeys on Saturday the morning we leave, since I have been hearing mixed reviews about the breakfast being better than the dinner?

OR

I could trade Mickey's BBQ for Chef Mickeys at Dinner and then keep my Saturday the way it is ( we are still undecided about going to the parks before we leave that day, or just grab breakfast and leave- which would affect how many days we get for park passes...)

Any thoughts?

What about my other choices? :P :rolleyes1

Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano= 2 meals total @ MGM * DINNER- FANTASTMIC PACKAGE *

Your DHS day is going to be a problem for two reasons. First of all, the Dine with an Imagineer lunch isn't included on the dining plan and is only offered on certain days which may or may not line up with the Fantasmic schedule. And second, F! package times tend to be early dinner times, like 3-4pm, so they aren't really compatible with a TS lunch.

If you have your heart set on the Imagineer lunch, you'd have to pay OOP for that and probably plan on doing Fantasmic without the preferred seating. Otherwise I'd suggest looking for the earliest Brown Derby Fantasmic package you can get, followed by a late dinner after the show at one of the Epcot/DHS area resorts.

Hmm.. that is news to me about the Imagineer Lunch not being on the dining plan, I looked it up and it shows that that the Disney Dining Plan is accepted for this.

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/dine-with-an-imagineer/

I would need to find out about that, and which days it is on, and I could always split up my meals to accommodate both.

I guess I could just wait for F! if it meant cutting out a lunch choice if the Imagineer lunch was on the dining plan, or what about just a breakfast and a
F! dining package?

Ohana's character breakfast was the best one I ever did. We were just 2 adults seated near the window with a view of the castle and the restaurant itself wasn't crazy like Tusker or Chef Mickey's

If you want to see Pluto -- go to that one!!! You will enjoy it.

Plus I didn't feel rushed at all and the food and service was good. Plus they bring the food to you!! :rotfl2:

That is interesting, it has never been on the plan before. I wonder if that's just another inaccuracy on the Disney website, along with La Hacienda and Via Napoli showing as not on the DxDDP, or if they've changed it to accept the plan for 2011.

Breakfast and the F! package would work well, but plan on breakfast before getting to DHS because there really aren't good options there, just Starring Rolls for quick service and the Playhouse Disney character meal for table service.

Oh I don't think I can wait 6 years (do you know how old I'll be??) :scared1:

But I will wait....cause I love him

Oh and I've been throwing ideas at hime like....wouldn't it be nice to get married at one of the Pavillions at EPCOT?? I would do it but it's wwwwayyyyy out of my budget right now. Too big of a family (both parents had 10 siblings each!!)

Now to decide where to fit that in..... :rolleyes1

Thanks for the heads up! :) I will have to look into that and see it is included! I had only noticed it when I was researching the Dining plans further, so I will keep you posted when I find out an answer!

Yeah I noticed about DHS not having much of an option for dining for Breakfast. We will probably just do some snacks, and then an early dinner for F! and then a late dinner like you had mentioned in one of the other parks, or at DTD.

Hahaha... 6 years was def. a long time, but it was well worth the wait for sure ;)

I love Disney to death, but a wedding there just isn't in the cards for me right now... (maybe a VR? :goodvibes) I thought I had a lot of people to invite!! Wow! You totally have me beat!!

BUT he is going to let me go Disney crazy and have a Disney themed wedding, which surprisingly wasn't hard to convince him at all...AND he agreed to go to Disney for our Honeymoon!!:rotfl: which actually works out kinda funny because my parents went to Disney, his parents went to Disney, and my brother went to Disney... Guess I shouldn't break tradition huh?:woohoo:

Update on Imagineer Lunch:

After speaking with a Cast Member this evening, she informed me that the Imagineer Lunch is indeed on the dining plan, but only for the Magic Your Way Premium and Platinum Packages.

So I think I might have to save that for next time...

Another thought I had was to stay at a Value resort and get the benefits of the MYW Premium package, however staying at say POP, would that not be a good choice for a honeymoon?

That's a nice compromise. We couldn't afford a Disney wedding, and wouldn't have done it even if we could because my grandmother was in no shape to travel. We didn't even honeymoon there, because I already had DS to think about when I met DH and I'm absolutely phobic about flying without the kids. So we're hoping to have a Disney VR to mark our 25th anniversary and the start of a new stage of life as a couple, because at that point all our kids will be grown and it'll be just us for the first time in our relationship.

Another thought I had was to stay at a Value resort and get the benefits of the MYW Premium package, however staying at say POP, would that not be a good choice for a honeymoon?

Personally, I wouldn't want to stay at POP for a honeymoon. The most frequent complaints, even from the people who love the value resorts, are thin walls and too many noisy/poorly supervised kids. Those are shortcomings I'm willing to overlook when I'm traveling with a pack of potentially noisy kids myself (I have 3), but it isn't something I'd want to chance for a romantic trip. If the premium/platinum plan with a nicer resort isn't in the budget now, well, that's what anniversaries are for!

Yeah, the more I think about it, a Honeymoon is a once in a lifetime thing, and I wouldn't want to cheapen the experience with a lower end hotel (not that POP or any of the other hotels aren't good!!) but for the occasion it might be a little too value.

Haha, I do agree that for our anniversary or VR we can run around a little more... and hopefully with a little more $$ :)

I think I am set with my choice of POFQ, it looks more beautiful every time I look at it, and I think I am happy with it :goodvibes

I have an incoming revision on my new dining plan (after meeting with DF this evening and showing him some menus!)
