Nov 2010 -- Even our Stroller has Christmas Lights! New 12/22 Lessons Learned #222

Yeah, I am really excited about it. My co-leader and I planed out the whole year and added some crafts, games, fun, nature and community-service events.

yeah, it'll be a year in November since my last crop ... and I sooooooo miss it!

I know what you mean. Scotty hasn't raced this year and I haven't even thought about doing our trip one yet.

Thanks! I thought that was a nice, extra special touch!

Our next day in October is "It's a Small World Day!" for Elizabeth. I'm still working on that one, too.

But both girls (esp Rachel) are having fun with these days so it's worth it!

I think that Small World ought to be a lot of fun. The song may drive you nuts but oh boy could you have fun with it.

Yeah, we were trying to think of something for Elizabeth and she loves this ride and dolls, so we'll have fun.

Wow! Awesome parade and fireworks day! Y'all are so creative! Complete with Tink!

As for pen ink on our Tinkerbell and Cinderella doll -- I read on-line that Benzoyl Peroxide on it for a few hours in the sun works ... and it did!! There is no trace at all of the ink on our dolls! I smeared the creme (acne lotion) on and put it in the sun for 4 hours. Then wiped it off and the ink was gone! Our dolls are new again!:cool1:

Ok, our American Girl Kit Doll has ink on her face (at least that's what I think it is). I'm SO going to have to try this! What kind did you use?

I used PanOxyl, Maximum Strength 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Foaming Wash. I smeared it on and then left in the warm sun for a few hours. Once you wipe it off, the ink comes off but it didn't harm the face. Of course, if you have ink on a non-prominent spot, you should try that first, esp with the AG dolls since they are so expensive.

But I was truly amazed how well this worked. We had about 20 marks and now she looks like new.

Hey, sconnell, I see you are from Savannah. I was just looking at hotels from Santee to Savanah, to decide where we want to stay for our first night.

I just picked a Comfort Inn in Ridgeland, SC ($70.55) b/c it got great reviews on-line.

So I have a BW in Santee ($83.90) in case we are running late and can't make it that far. The Comfort Inn for our mid-way point.

If we find that traffic is really light and we're making great time, can you recommend any place in Savannah. We don't need Hiltons and Hyatts. Just want clean, safe place with preferred free breakfast -- all for around $80 or less.

Oh and it needs to be one where we can cancel the same day since we'll decide on the road (i.e., Days Inns and Microtels have 24hr advance cancellation I believe).

Thanks!

I wish I knew that trick about cleaning the ink off of the dolls faces when my girls were into dolls. It makes so much sense.

Gotta love Google!!

I swear, how in the world did we even live before the internet!! :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

You know I often wonder what we did before the internet, doing reports for school are so much easier. No more hours at the library, and dozens of photocopies. Now you have the internet and my kids sit at the computer and type their reports as they research them. I am jealous that they have the ease.

I can't recommend a specific hotel, since I've actually never stayed in a hotel here. But I can tell you that you need to look at two exits off of I-95. (assuming you want to stay near the interstate)
I-95 and 204 in Savannah - There's a tiny little outlet mall there, but lots of places to eat and hotels. I wouldn't get gas at this exit though. :)
Then there's I-95 and 17 in Richmond Hill - It's one exit south of Savannah and has lots of places to eat, sleep, and better gas prices. :)

Looks like there are plenty of nice choices at each by looking at tripadvisor. More choices at the 204 exit.

1st, my sincere apologies for the break. I really wanted to finish my July TR and then gosh darn it, I signed up to be a Troop Leader for Daisy Girl Scouts so my daughter and her friend could be in GS (no one else wanted to do it).

So I'm in the process of filling out a bunch of forms, trying to organize a troop and take training. It's certainly interfering with my DISing.

Oh, and Rachel just signed up for Martial Arts (Tae Kwon Do) along with 4 other friends. Two of them are her age and two are older but they all start out together. I'm excited for her and hope for her to learn:

1) Focus
2) Confidence
3) Physical Fitness (esp cardio)
4) Strength

So without further ado ... back to the PTR.

I think we are going to take Rachel out of Kindergarten on 11/19 at 1:05pm and hope to be on the road by 1:15pm. Our current plan is to get to Hardeeville, SC - Savanna, GA, if we can. That's a lot of driving for only a half day but it means we'd get in earlier on Saturday to Disney.

We won't have to decide until the 4pm or 6pm hotel cancellations.

I haven't played around with any more ADRs or schedule yet. I think this trip is really just going to be an unscheduled :scared1::scared1::scared1: one for us. We're only in the parks for 3 full days and will just stick to MK and DHS and hopefully meeting up with mousescrapper!:thumbsup2

aww..that is so nice you signed up to be a leader so Rachel could do Daisies

Martial sounds great

I think winging it will be fun :cool1:

aww...Your parade and firework day sounds awesome

I love that Jerry got Tinkerbell fly down. That is so cool

Like the color choices this trip :wizard:

Thanks! We'll be getting in very late (midnight or so) and just going to bed, breakfast and gas. I will check hotels at those exits!

I remember many, many days in the library and looking through my dad's (Outdated) Encyclopedia set!

yeah, the planner part of me is saying, what? No plan -- how crazy! but I think we should just try it.

I was happy Jerry thought of that! I'm hoping the red, white and black will also look good for the Christmas photos.

We have a set of encyclopedias from the 1950's that my grandpa gave the kids. I get a good giggle out of them. So much of the stuff is out dated. I know I should get rid of them but I just can't bring myself to do it.

I have been meaning to mention, I used your trick on Naomi-Ruth's doll she had used pen ink on, after her sunbathing on the window sill she was clean :thumbsup2

you bet I can't wait to meet you, Jerry and the girls!!!

I also have prepped about 35 pages of my scrapbook (Elizabeth's birth in March 09 to Aug 09) and Disney autograph book (added new pages for Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Lilo, Stitch, Lots of Hugging Bear and some others that I hadn't done).

Oh boy I can't wait to see them

Before moving on, I took a picture of some of the clothes we will be wearing for our November trip. As most of you know, I have totally crossed the line (:rotfl:) into clothes-obsessed when we travel. We now all having matching/coordinated clothes. I just love the way the pictures come out and it's so much eaiser for me to crop them that way!!:rotfl2::lmao:

we'll be that other totally coordinated family walking around too :rotfl:

We stopped at one of our friends' houses

what a cute and fun idea, so sweet and Matt and I laughed about the flying Tink doll...too good!

Marshay, I just wanted to mention that we bumped into each other in Fall of either 2008 or 2006 right around Mickey's House! It was a brief meeting, but anyway...:thumbsup2

Yes! I remember! I just forgot who the name was so THANK YOU for reminding me it was you!! It was Fall of 2008 since we didn't go in 2006.

I've actually run into about 3-5 DIS people in Disney that I "met" on-line and a few I didn't know. It's so neat to be in Disney and meet others who love it as much as I do!

When are you going again?
