Nov 2010 -- Even our Stroller has Christmas Lights! New 12/22 Lessons Learned #222

Ok, we throw in some songs (Zip-a-Dee Doo Dah and Laughing Place) and then off to some water ball fun
JPEG062.jpg

Now the hills are getting a bit bigger
JPEG065.jpg

Finally, we get to the "Laughing Place". Brer' Bear and Brer Fox are ready to get Rachel and Elizabeth
JPEG031.jpg

And now we add the water ... to which Rachel gets scared and doesn't want to go down ...
JPEG066.jpg

So Daddy has to go down first. It's slippery!
JPEG067.jpg

Rachel finally goes down her style ... by climbing up the slide part-way and then sliding down. She lands on her bottom and slides across in the grass. After the tears subside, she says the best part of Splash Mountain day was sliding across the grass!:confused3 Go figure...

Snack Time

Ok, just use your Imagination like Figment would say and voila! Here is our Splash Mountain Briar Patch, complete with Bears, Foxes (sort of), rabbits, briar patches, dirt, grass, trees and stepping stones (because of course there are walking paths in briar patches!:rotfl2:)
JPEG020-1.jpg

A close-up of our Splash Mountain Briar Patch...note the cracker rabbits, gummi bears, lollipop tree, gummi red dinosaur (closest I could come to a fox),
JPEG015-1.jpg

Another view showing the walking path, chocolate briar patches and cracker-crumb dirt and grass sprinkles. Ok, you got to use your imagination a bit!;)
JPEG018.jpg

We bring the main characters up to enjoy our treats. Here is Rachel, Elizabeth, Jerry, Brer Rabbit, Fox/Wolf and Bear. Oh, no, Brer Fox is still after that rabbit!
JPEG071.jpg

Finally, Rachel and I tell the Splash Mountain story with Brer Fox chasing Brer Rabbit
JPEG075.jpg

Then we go inside and watch a 9 minute video on YouTube going through the entire ride.

Today was a success!:thumbsup2

What is next month theme?

Thanks! It was fun and thankfully the weather actually was quite cool for summer (only mid 80s) so we weren't dying in the heat.

Next month is "Parade and Fireworks" We'll do it over Labor Day weekend. It'll be both a Disney day and a 'last days before Kindergarten'!

What wonderful fun!! It looks like it had to be a great time.

Yeah, we have been having some nice weather. Really been enjoying it

Oh neat. That will be fun.

Last hurrah before school starts :wizard:

So it's definitely better for my conscious to pay $10-20 more and be worry-free. Now it doesn't mean that BW won't be a bad experience. I know that. Each experience is different, but this one just seemed to be liked by everyone.

Yes better safe than sorry

As for pen ink on our Tinkerbell and Cinderella doll -- I read on-line that Benzoyl Peroxide on it for a few hours in the sun works ... and it did!! There is no trace at all of the ink on our dolls! I smeared the creme (acne lotion) on and put it in the sun for 4 hours. Then wiped it off and the ink was gone! Our dolls are new again!:cool1:

:thumbsup2 perfect...never would thunk that...have to try that out on a few of our depened dollies....

Just LOVE the Splash Mt day... 3 huge :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

you guys are awesome, so fun to see Mom and Dad get in the act, the candy/snack briar patch was just perfect :goodvibes

can't wait to see what other fun days you guys do...

I have a feeling we'll have a pretty fun Dis-meet :yay:

Just popping in to see what is new

Hi Marsha,

I have to add our parade and fireworks day here but I want to finish our last 2 days from the July trip. Should have that done soon.

We are also thinking about taking Rachel out of school early on the Friday before Thanksgiving (she gets out at 2:30pm) so we can leave sooner.

Cool. Looking forward to it

Yeah, if you keep her in probably til like 12:30, she will get credit for at least half a day. I would do it :thumbsup2

1st, my sincere apologies for the break. I really wanted to finish my July TR and then gosh darn it, I signed up to be a Troop Leader for Daisy Girl Scouts so my daughter and her friend could be in GS (no one else wanted to do it).

So I'm in the process of filling out a bunch of forms, trying to organize a troop and take training. It's certainly interfering with my DISing.

Oh, and Rachel just signed up for Martial Arts (Tae Kwon Do) along with 4 other friends. Two of them are her age and two are older but they all start out together. I'm excited for her and hope for her to learn:

1) Focus
2) Confidence
3) Physical Fitness (esp cardio)
4) Strength

So without further ado ... back to the PTR.

I think we are going to take Rachel out of Kindergarten on 11/19 at 1:05pm and hope to be on the road by 1:15pm. Our current plan is to get to Hardeeville, SC - Savanna, GA, if we can. That's a lot of driving for only a half day but it means we'd get in earlier on Saturday to Disney.

We won't have to decide until the 4pm or 6pm hotel cancellations.

I haven't played around with any more ADRs or schedule yet. I think this trip is really just going to be an unscheduled :scared1::scared1::scared1: one for us. We're only in the parks for 3 full days and will just stick to MK and DHS and hopefully meeting up with mousescrapper!:thumbsup2

All good things for Rachel and I am willing to bet that you will enjoy doing the Daisy Girls/

I also have prepped about 35 pages of my scrapbook (Elizabeth's birth in March 09 to Aug 09) and Disney autograph book (added new pages for Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Lilo, Stitch, Lots of Hugging Bear and some others that I hadn't done).

At the end of October, I'll go on a 2-day crop and actually put all the pages together. Woo hoo!!

Of course I'll post pics!!:goodvibes

How cool. I am looking forward to seeing them.:hippie:

So after taking Mousescrapper's lead and doing some pre-Disney days, our first was Splash Mountain Day in August for Rachel.

Before moving on, I took a picture of some of the clothes we will be wearing for our November trip. As most of you know, I have totally crossed the line (:rotfl:) into clothes-obsessed when we travel. We now all having matching/coordinated clothes. I just love the way the pictures come out and it's so much eaiser for me to crop them that way!!:rotfl2::lmao:

So here are our November's colors: red, black and white!
JPEG002.jpg

Moving on, well, September's Disney Day was Parade & Fireworks Day for Jerry, my DH.

All parades have to have Decorated Floats. We decorated our strollers and wagons in Mickey Mouse colors, donned MM hats and filled the strollers with Disney stuffed animals and dolls!
JPEG007-1.jpg

We had Disney music playing, too. Off we go!
JPEG009.jpg

We stopped at one of our friends' houses
JPEG010.jpg

and continued to march for 6 blocks around our neighborhood. We were quite a site ... esp when we started singing all the disney songs we knew! It was fun!

Then we went back home and got ready for the big event.

Jerry made sure that Tinkerbell would be ready to fly over us! He had her rigged so he just needed to pull a rope from down below. It was cool.
JPEG012-1.jpg

Here she goes:
JPEG013-1.jpg

Sorry for all the blurriness. you'll just have to trust me that she flew down from our second story window to a tree on the ground.
JPEG014-1.jpg

JPEG015-2.jpg

Rachel really enjoyed it!
JPEG018-1.jpg

Then it was time for the Fireworks.
JPEG025-1.jpg

Even Elizabeth got in on the action
JPEG028.jpg

Then Rachel, Elie and I sat back to watch the Fireworks
JPEG029.jpg

(so did the kids across the street!)

JPEG031-1.jpg

By this time it was late and Elizabeth was just ready to go to sleep ... Rachel was nearly asleep as well.
JPEG035-1.jpg

Jerry and I figured, this is exactly what they'd do if we were in Magic Kingdom ... so we must have done a good job!

Oh how wonderful. I love it. Especially Tinker Bell flying. You are making it all so much fun.

Yeah, I am really excited about it. My co-leader and I planed out the whole year and added some crafts, games, fun, nature and community-service events.

How cool. I am looking forward to seeing them.:hippie:

yeah, it'll be a year in November since my last crop ... and I sooooooo miss it!

Thanks! I thought that was a nice, extra special touch!

Our next day in October is "It's a Small World Day!" for Elizabeth. I'm still working on that one, too.

But both girls (esp Rachel) are having fun with these days so it's worth it!
