Nov. 14th Wednesday Day One
Finally the big day was here! I packed the evening before and the next morning we woke up at 4am with one hour to shower, change and pack the last few bits. Plus, we were getting new kitchen cabinets while we were gone so I had to make sure everything was ship shape for the workers! Besides, I love a little stress on a day such as this..adds to the excitement!
As we walked to catch our bus to the train Kevin actually saw a shooting star! As if we weren’t excited enough already! Now, it was freezing cold outside but luckily I had listened to my fellow DLRP trip planners and put on a pair of long underwear and I was so glad I did! During our trip I never really felt uncomfortable although it was very, very cold. Actually, all except the last day of our trip we were really lucky with the weather for although it was icy cold out it was sunny every day with bright blue skies. The parks were beautiful in the sunshine!
We flew out of Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen, Denmark so we took the Oresund train over the strait which took about 50 minutes. We had done online check in the day before so just needed to do the bag drop before going through security and getting a bit of breakfast. Our flight was fine, no turbulence whatsoever thankfully. Finally after about 2 hours we arrived. We were now in France! We collected our bags promptly then followed the signs to the VEA shuttle bus and lo and behold, it was right there waiting for us! That was easy peasy! Now due to the Metro strike going on I had envisioned an angry mob of Disney freaks like ourselves fighting for a spot on the bus but no, there were only a few of us and everyone behaved as we loaded up our luggage and gave the driver our print out since we had ordered our tickets online the day before.
The bus ride didn’t feel long at all and all of a sudden I saw the pink Disneyland Hotel in the distance. We had arrived! Excited, I thought perhaps we should get off the bus at the Newport Bay hotel along with just about everyone else, and walk it to the Cheyenne but Kevin convinced me to stay put. One other person was staying at Explorers so the Cheyenne was our next stop and Wow were we impressed by the surroundings! I must be odd to love a theme that would also impress a little boy to bits but there you go. We were laughing! There was Christmas music playing as soon as we got off the bus and the overall effect of the lobby with its western styling and Christmas tree was just perfect we thought. We quickly got in line to check in as it was a bit after 1 pm and the parks were closing at 6! Our CM at check in was named Sonja and she was great. Explained everything to us and there was a lot to know. We got our breakfast times including one Good Morning Breakfast in Disneyland park for Saturday which surprised me because I had read that they would be stopping that. Our first breakfast was at 7:00 but after that we got times a bit after 8:00 when the whole of the resort also decided to eat.
Right, well this is turning out to be a bit wordy isn’t it? Anyway, we rushed through the western town trying to find our building and Kevin was very confused! He will tell you that I was the confused one but he’s even confused about that as it was him. We finally found our room, agreed that it would do nicely then rushed along the beautiful path by the lake to Disneyland.
And here we are! Look at that lovely blue sky too!
Not my little boy but doesn't it look Christmas y! We were far to excited to wait in lines for anything other than rides but I had to take this shot.
What a magical moment it is walking under the train station and out into Town Square! The music and sights just hit you all at once and it really is something like entering another world. Dare I say it..a world of Magic
! Sounds like I'm being funny, but if you're lucky enough to 'get' Disney, then you know what I mean!
Stay tuned for part two -where we ride everything and try to eat everything, but can't
!
