Notice of Saratoga Paddocks Pool Expansion

We added on at SSR when it was still under construction and stayed there once (most of our points are at BCV). Our first observation was that the main pool seemed really inadequate for the size of the resort and the quiet pool was nothing special. We're used to the pool at BCV, which probably spoiled us, but I think improving the pool facilities at SSR is a really good idea.

are there any pictures/artists renderings of the expansion? I would love to get an idea of what they are doing?

DVCMike posted a photo of the rendering in the Annual Meeting Report thread yesterday.

The pool will be increased to 3300 sq. ft - almost triple it's current size - and a 146 foot 'curly' slide will be added. The deck area will be greatly increased and a quick service dining area added. The cost is budgeted at 0.41 per point, but 0.30 of that will come from the reserve fund so owners will see an increase of only 0.11 per point.

Great info-Thanks, Doc! It looks terrific. This should make the "what ssr section should I request?" threads even more complicated!

I think this will be a wonderful addition. The main pool is just too small for the size of the resort. We stayed at Paddock last year and thought it was a good location (except, the building we were in was a little bit far to walk to DTD)

I am more than excited about this!!

SSR will be the only DVC where you can actually pool hop (complete with slide) without leaving the resort!:rotfl:

From the beginning, SSR has been our favorite and the only section I avoided was Carousel. The views and amenities of the other areas were always a positive the Carousel did not have.

Now there will be food and beverages in the Paddocks and im sure they will add a laundry room also, since Carousel does not have that either. Those last 2 buildings ended up costing DVC alot more than they originally bargained for, but I am glad they are willing to correct the situation and make it right for SSR owners.

First the THV and now this!! Completely and Totally Awesome!!

As a large point owner at SSR, this addition will curb my request for categories at SSR and the demand for different view categories which I was originally in favor of. Having an entire resort not divided into view categories will be great for availability and I dont have to worry about being "stuck" in the Carousel any longer.:wizard:

Kudos to Sonja our GM at SSR/OKW for all the wonderful improvements!:woohoo:

I saw a picture of the artist's rendering and it looks great. A wonderful addition to SSR!

tgj - I like that idea you sneaked in there - add a drink station to Congress Park, too!

..although I must say I was excited to stay in Grandstand and use the drink station....until I realized it was only open in the afternoon to mirror the pool bar hours. I wound up walking to AP 2 out of 3 times for refills becaue I wanted refills in the AM and evening before and after going to the park. It was nice for a pool day, but I do not have enough pool days to make the refill cup worthwhile..
