Nothing Can Stop Us Now! The End! Well almost, quick recap of Jan 22 trip! Update on April trip 4/21*

I finally found you........:wave2:

Hi Everyone!
I wanted to put in a little RL update!
I saw the foot and ankle specialist on Monday. I have a peroneal tendon injury! It is a common runners injury. I do not run, even for my favorite food!

I do walk about 3-4 miles every day so could be from that. Who knows, anyways it sucks.
I need to keep it immobilized in a big old boot for 1 month and I am on a prescription strength anti-inflammatory. I have to say the pain is improving now!
I also have to wear my orthotics at all times from now on.
I was sternly told no traveling right now or this maybe a problem for a lot longer.

I think you all know where this is going! No 50th celebration for me! I canceled our late September trip.
I’m sad but what can you do, things happen and I have been lucky 🍀 to have 3 Disney trips so far this year!
My sister is actually relieved 😅 she was having doubts about traveling with the current P situation. I hate that word. I have to say it and the stupid virus name at work all day long so no I refuse to mention it here! 🤬
She is not use to wearing a mask all day like I am and she was not wanting to do this!
We have decided to try next year around this time so we can do HHN at Universal! She loves Halloween 🎃

Right now Andi and I plan to travel to Disney in late January, March, and Fall. The positive is Andi will come with us next year at this time.
I have some cool 50th dresses and shirts, I will have to wear those in January!
I am happy to see Dessert Parties returning and I will definitely plan one of those for January and fall!

Well, I am so sorry to read of your ankle issues and even sorrier you have to cancel this recent trip! Your trips are a joy to read and it`s evident how much you enjoy them.....but you`re being a very good girl doing as your told by the medics. Fingers crossed it heals quickly and you`re back to normal as soon as possible.

Our best meal of the trip and it was on sale!

We had a 5pm reservation at Jaleo. We were really looking forward to this meal. I had read so many wonderful reviews on here about this place. This meal was amazing, we did the 5 course Orlando magical dining special. I had no idea this was going on and it worked great for us. We had 5 different tapas each and we shared everything. We also went with the 1/2 pitcher of the house made white sangria. This was very tasty.

Chicken croquettes yum
View attachment 607154
These tasted like chicken dumplings in a croquette, it reminded me of my grandmother’s chicken and dumpling soup, it was like in the movie Ratatouille when the food critic has his childhood memory, this was me!!
Jose Andres talks about these croquettes invoking memories for him and I get it! He would put his boots on the table when he was small and get scolded so when he started his restaurant businesses he would serve the croquettes on a boot. He thought a pillow like the one for Cinderella’s shoe was perfect to present these at DS!
Tomato bread with manchego cheese yum
View attachment 607155
This was simple but so tasty with the fresh tomato and the perfect cheese to compliment.

Watermelon tomato with balsamic yum
Salad with tomatoes, olives, purple onion yum
View attachment 607156
I loved both of these, the salad was so tasty with the olives, fresh crunchy lettuce and tomatoes. The watermelon bites with the balsamic were very refreshing!

Garlic mushrooms yum
Potatoes with aioli yum
View attachment 607157
These 2 courses were so delicious. I love mushrooms, these did not disappoint very flavorful and the potatoes oh my, crisp outside soft inside and the aioli was devine.

Garlic shrimp yum

Shrimp in a garlicky butter what is not to like!

Paella chicken and mushroom yum

Andi loved this, I liked it but the spice flavors were a little smoky and strong for me.

Flan yum
Chocolate mousse yum

Perfect desserts after our wonderful meal!
We were so happy with this meal and the 5 courses for each of us was 37.00 a piece. This price was amazing because we tried so many tasty things. Our sangria cost as much as one of the meals. We were so happy after this meal. I highly recommend trying Jaleo! You will not be disappointed! My favorites of the tapas were the chicken croquettes, salad, mushrooms, and the potatoes! Oh my so delicious! All the other tapas were a close second, including both desserts! The flan was my favorite of the desserts.
We were quite pleased and both decided this was our favorite meal so far and it did keep that top spot the rest of the week! I highly recommend trying Jaleo! You will not be disappointed!
Our meal was paced perfectly and our waiter was so informative and all around very nice. He made the time for you and always checked back to see how things were going. I am a true fan of this place now!
We decided to put our name in at Gideon’s and while we waited we had the delicious Dolewhip Frozcato from Winebar George.
View attachment 607162

We sat at the upstairs bar and we looked like little kids at the bar, it was high and the chairs low, lol 😂

View attachment 607161
Check out the mask holder we had from our friend Melinda @pepperandchips, these were so handy and worked well!
We got our text from Gideon’s and took the last of our drinks to go.
We had to wait about 10 minutes to get in and once inside we went with 1 double chocolate chip, 2 chocolate chip and one pistachio toffee cookie.

My ankle was throbbing at this point despite the alcohol so we headed back to the resort. We missed our bus of course but we only waited about 15 minutes for the next one.
We relaxed and I put some ice on my foot and ankle. We watched tv, relaxed and went to sleep around 11pm. Stay tuned for our next park day!

Do you think there are more animals in this park than people?

Food looks lovely there.......garlic shrimp....oh yes!!! And we really do need to vist Winebar George one day.......

Your pictures are as always lovely, and enjoying reading along with this one too.....

That sounds wonderful!
It really was such a delightful dinner!
mmm... white sangria... mmm.......
Red is my favorite usually but this was so crisp, fruity, and delicious 🤤
What a great story.
He is a wonderful man, he feeds the world, donates so much time and money to the less fortunate
So you're saying... It was yum
Yes this was the word of the post :rotfl:
That is a great price! Wow!
I went into this meal expecting to pay way more for our meal, this was such a pleasant surprise
Whoa. That sounds... amazing.
You have to try this when you get back. Wine Bar George is a must!
Huh! Good idea. Haven't seen or heard of those.
It really helped since you are donning andi doffing the mask all the time!
And now you've had to cancel trips because of it.
Ugh, don’t remind me, I am slowly starting to walk a little more, following doctors orders of course! Today was my AP preview of the new Remy attraction! It still looks to be low crowds too!

Not a fan of reds, but that white looked good!

Noted! :)

Good girl. :)

Sorry!

I leave on Tuesday and staying through til Sunday. It's basically a free trip for me between staying in friends' rooms and Visa Disney rewards for food, so just the flight and ticket.
Have a wonderful trip, I wish I would be there, nice to enjoy the 50th at a low cost overall!
Which is never a bad thing
I rather enjoyed the relaxed touring we did. Enjoying the food and drinks was a big part of this trip!
One of my TOP Disney restaurant picks of ANY park or resort. LOVE this place!!
I truly enjoyed it and wholeheartedly agree!
I could eat that shrimp for the rest of my life and be happ
I could eat my weight in shrimp, lol. Love shrimp!
You know it's bad when even ETOH doesn't do the trick.
I know, it was so sore, ugh!
Definitely on our list for March!
You will thoroughly enjoy this restaurant
Melinda gave me one too. I love it!
Very handy
Sounds like you had a perfect, uncrowded AK day.
Yes indeed!
Trip planning is what I am trying to do by reading some recent reviews on this forum. I've been to Disney before, but need a refresher. However, it is very hard grasping the ends and outs in reviews, and in many postings on this forum, when there are so many acronyms to decipher. I have not been to Disney in many years, so I am rusty. Could you please explain what GE is and how do you ride it...what is needed
I know it can be overwhelming with all the planning that goes into a Disney trip!
Looking forward to hearing about Animal Kingdom. That's where my group will be staying in 2 weeks. I am a grandmother traveling with my daughter and 2 grandchildren. My daughter is a teacher and has very little time for planning. We just booked this trip about a month ago. I am in the end stages of building a house and have very little time to devote to the planning of this trip. Is there a list of all these acronyms used on this forum?
Animal Kingdom is beautiful and the park is a favorite of mine. I know there is a place on here with all the acronyms. I think it is in the new to the boards area!
So sorry that you had ankle trouble on your trip. That's no fun! Here's hoping that you are feeling better soon!
Thank you! It is getting better and thanks for joining in
But you don't have to worry about that as it's been discontinued. Now you just have to get in line. Be aware however that the lines will be long for ROTR. Your best bet would be to arrive e
I agree, the waits are long in the morning. I have read the later in the day around 4-5 the wait time goes down. The Ride is very popular!

Ugh! What a bummer you had to cancel your trip for this month. But I'm sure your ankle/foot will thank you for that. Hopefully it will heal sooner rather than later and you'll be ready to go on your January trip.

I've never gotten anything from Gideons and I'm not a huge cookie person so I'm not even sure what I would decide to get if I ever do go. There are a few cakes I might would like.
It really was a bummer, I had an AP preview of Remy’s adventure and some good dining choices! I’m glad we did go on our late August trip even if I had to hobble around!
The Gideon’s cookies are so yummy but very rich and very huge. I froze several and brought home to my husband, he loved this but even for him it was to much! I have heard good reviews on the cakes. I may need to try the cake next time!

I'm like 4 pages behind, but just have to say the food at Topolino's looks amazing! Need to add that to our list of must try place
This was a delightful dining experience in every way. I highly recommend
Magic bands... good question! I think they're still in use. As for the app... I'm not sure if they've rolled out Genie+ yet. That's a whole new kettle of fish!
Yes magic bands are still used, we use these for every thing. The FP which we had before COVID-19 is gone and will be replaced with a pay service called the Genie+, I am hearing this service will roll out in October?? I hope we can use our magic bands with this service.
You beat me to it. I was going to add that yes, Ratatouille IS planned to begin BG's when it opens. I was studying this for my Oct 1 EPCOT visit. I'm glad for a chance at riding and didn't want to spend all day in line for it
I hope you get a boarding group for Remy! I was to enjoy it today with my AP preview,

Jaleo sounds ....yum :rotfl2: Dole whip froscato sounds devine and Gideons cookies look heavenly. All in all a perfectly scrumptious day! Sorry your ankle still aches. So glad it's healing, albeit slowly, now.
Your food photos are amazing and now I am hungry even though I shouldn't be because I've just eaten a bacon sandwich after reading Vamassey's TR where she had a bacon snack in MK. The Dis is bad for my waistline :scared1::rotfl:
This evening was filled with so many delicious treats! Everything was very good and we had a really fun evening together!
I love food porn! It isn’t the best for the waistline if you indulge while reading about it! :rotfl:

I finally found you........:wave2:
Hi Carole, glad to have you joining in!

I know! The timing sure stinks! It is slowly improving and I hope it goes away and never returns!
Food looks lovely there.......garlic shrimp....oh yes!!! And we really do need to vist Winebar George one day.......

Your pictures are as always lovely, and enjoying reading along with this one too.....
This dinner was so enjoyable, we really had a wonderful time savoring each tapa that came out and the shrimp was so yummy! I do love some good Food porn pictures, yours have always been a favorite of mine!
Not a fan of reds, but that white looked good!
This was the best white sangria I have had, Via Napoli has a really good white one also!

"The FP which we had before COVID-19 is gone and will be replaced with a pay service called the Genie+, I am hearing this service will roll out in October?? I hope we can use our magic bands with this service."

That's what I was afraid of. Genie is another cost, plus I would need to purchase Magic Bands for the other 3 in my party. And if they are not going to work with Genie+, that's certainly a waste.

We were so happy with this meal and the 5 courses for each of us was 37.00 a piece. This price was amazing because we tried so many tasty things. Our sangria cost as much as one of the meals.
That is an amazing price for Jaleo! I do want to try this one day, but I am thinking it will be better without the girls.

We sat at the upstairs bar and we looked like little kids at the bar, it was high and the chairs low, lol 😂

Ah, the life of short people... I can relate.

So happy to hear you all loved Jaleo and what an amazing deal they were having!!! It is such an amazing restaurant whose food is eclipsed only by its amazing owner. Your story about the croquettes really hit me. Food is so much more than food to him, its memories that you can really feel the love shining through on. I'm blabbering but clearly I love me some Jose Andres.

That jaleo meal looks amazing!! I may have to give it a whirl. I also get the food memories. Certain foods can take me back.

We sure did! The meal had so many wonderful parts to it and the memories of my grandmother’s chicken and dumplings ahh so special!
Everything I have read about him and his philanthropy is awesome!

Hi Caro!!!! (Can I call you that? Haha)

I’m on my phone so it’s nearly impossible to do quotes but I’ve loved your trip so far! Although it’s really a bummer about your ankle. I hope it’s better now!

Riviera is sooo lovely and those Murphy beds are worlds more comfortable than the sofa beds. I’m really jealous of your meal at Jaleo, I’m dying to go there!

I also didn’t realize Andi is a Spanish major! I love that. I’ve been teaching myself Spanish for about half a year now, going to try out my skills in Spain in November. Maybe in December she’ll practice Spanish with me haha

Hello Everyone, 👋

Hii!!! Glad to be here.

This was our 25th trip traveling with just the two of us. We started these trips together in 2010 and we have not stopped! ✈🎢🏰.

That's so awesome that you have that to share with Andi! So many great trips together <3

She works 3 part time jobs, she tutors Spanish to middle and high school students, she is a Teacher’s Assistant to one of her Spanish professors, and she works at a local garden shop in her college town! She is a busy girl. She has been on the Dean’s list every semester of her college career so far.

Holy cow! Go Andi! I knew she was a great person from what you've said about her, but didn't realize quite how hard-working she really is!

We had the Boo Bash scheduled for 1 night

Yay! Interested in this.

Unfortunately, I had developed an Achilles tendinitis on Sunday 8/22. I went to bed without any problems and woke up with severe pain in my right ankle. It was bad and I was told by my doctor, I should not be going on a trip, ugh! I could barely walk. My right ankle area hurt so much.

Oh that's soo unfortunate! I remember you saying you were having trouble with you ankle, but I didn't realize until your 50th trip was cancelled how bad it was. Sorry you were dealing with this.

We also had the epi bread with delicious olive oil and we ordered the ricotta and tomato jam, this was so delicious. We were so hungry and it tasted wonderful.

This sounded so good! Such a great combination of flavours!

Andi mobile ordered the Romano and Herbed French fries from Primo Piatto. I didn’t get a picture for some reason.:confused3 These are so yummy.

Ooh this sounds good, too!

I have a peroneal tendon injury! It is a common runners injury.

Uggh. That sounds horrible!

I do not run, even for my favorite food!

Hah! :rotfl:

I need to keep it immobilized in a big old boot for 1 month and I am on a prescription strength anti-inflammatory. I have to say the pain is improving now!

So glad to hear that at least you're starting to see an improvement in your pain!

I think you all know where this is going! No 50th celebration for me! I canceled our late September trip.
I’m sad but what can you do, things happen and I have been lucky 🍀 to have 3 Disney trips so far this year!

I was sorry to hear you had to cancel this trip! But good that you can see the positive side and how many great trips you've had, and trips you'll have in future!

Another favorite of mine, Buzz, he was in his special Toy Story vehicle. I have to say I am partial to the space man over the cowboy. 😘

Nathan would agree! He's more of a Buzz-lover, and I'm more of a Woody fan. :) (Really, I'm a Bo Peep fan, but Woody would be up there, too!)

I am still amazed how many people just walk up to the CM’s at the entrance and ask what is this? How do we ride this?, Where is the line? Oh wait you need a what to ride this? We snicker every time we get to this ride entrance.

Hah! Really though! Those poor people!

I would think you would do a little trip planning before coming to Disney, but many do not!

Right?! It amazes me how many people just show up without doing any research and are sometimes disappointed/frustrated. But I guess that for people who are just familiar with other types of vacations or who only went to Disney World decades ago would expect that they could get away with that kind of approach and still have fun.

I highly recommend trying Jaleo! You will not be disappointed! My favorites of the tapas were the chicken croquettes, salad, mushrooms, and the potatoes! Oh my so delicious! All the other tapas were a close second, including both desserts! The flan was my favorite of the desserts.

I've heard so much good about Jaleo! Sounds like your meal was awesome! It'll have to go on my list for someday when we're able to get back.

Check out the mask holder we had from our friend Melinda @pepperandchips, these were so handy and worked well!

This is awesome! Melinda is so creative and talented <3

Riviera is sooo lovely and those Murphy beds are worlds more comfortable than the sofa beds. I’m really jealous of your meal at Jaleo, I’m dying to go there!
First so happy to see you here, miss you on the boards! Second so excited to have a trip planned at the same time in December!
We loved Riviera, you are lucky to be owners here! I hope all the DVC refurbishment includes Murphy beds instead of the sofa beds.
Hi Caro!!!! (Can I call you that? Haha)
That is so funny, no one has ever called me Carol, that is my mom’s name. :rotfl:Most call me Care or Caroline!
I’m so excited to see you in December and you and Andi will definitely have to practice Spanish and I will just be nodding like I know what is going on!

Hii!!! Glad to be here.
Hi Meghan, love having you here!
That's so awesome that you have that to share with Andi! So many great trips together <3
We really have had so many fun trips and loads of great memories
Holy cow! Go Andi! I knew she was a great person from what you've said about her, but didn't realize quite how hard-working she really is!
She is a busy bee, We are so proud!
Yay! Interested in thi
The quote got cut off, The Boo Bash was shall I say different than a MNSSHP but still fun overall!
Oh that's soo unfortunate! I remember you saying you were having trouble with you ankle, but I didn't realize until your 50th trip was cancelled how bad it was. Sorry you were dealing with this.
Yes the peroneal tendon, who knew, it stinks. It is so much better now but I still am not walking like I use to! Hopefully in the next couple weeks!
This sounded so good! Such a great combination of flavours!
I loved the ricotta and tomato jam so yummy!
Ooh this sounds good, too!
These fries are so delicious 😋 worth a Skyliner trip over there.
So glad to hear that at least you're starting to see an improvement in your pain!
Way better but still not gone totally yet!
I was sorry to hear you had to cancel this trip! But good that you can see the positive side and how many great trips you've had, and trips you'll have in future!
I know it was the right decision overall!
I've heard so much good about Jaleo! Sounds like your meal was awesome! It'll have to go on my list for someday when we're able to get back.
This was awesome and such a good price!
This is awesome! Melinda is so creative and talented <3
She sure is and a sweetheart!

I'm always late to your reports but this time I'm going to post and try to keep up.

I'm so sorry your ankle was giving you trouble and you had to cancel your 50th trip. Our last trip was over Labor Day weekend and we used a wheelchair for my oldest daughter. She was 6 months pregnant at the time and the heat and walking was too much for her. We shared the pushing but I did most of it and it was rough at times. Disney has so many ups and downs. I was thankful for the little bit of weight I loss from the extra exercise.

Enjoying your trip so far and especially the food. I haven't had diner at either place so this is all new to me.

I'm also a HUGE Outlander fan. I've read all the books and of course watched the series. I even attended a Wizard Con where Sam and several others were there.

Looking forward to more.
