Stayed in cabin...told by various people:
1) no smoking even on decks at cabins (front desk cast member) When did THIS start?
2) resort merchandise MAY be returning... (meadows cast member)
3) AP discount on merchandise nice and MAY be continued (various cast)

Found out:
1) security seen more frequently however did not catch 3 kids hanging off back of disney owned golf cart on road "foot surfing" off back of moving cart
2) speeding is NOT an issue security is concerned with on Big Pine (road leading to campsites) our cabin backed up to this road..AND disney maintenance and other disney vehicles including buses appeared to be exempt from speed limit also

Of interest:
1) did not see NOT ONE double parked vehicle in our loop for the first time in a long time!
2) one whole cabin loop was down for unknown reason (some cabins in that loop were tented (as if spraying for bugs))
3) WATER everywhere ... PONDS near the cabins... more so than usual however did rain almost every day we were there
3) cabins in need of repair yet again... .door fell off under kitchen cabinet, microwave did not work well... etc.
4) MSELP is done an hour later on 2 nights a week - took us by surprise and because of rain - missed seeing it... very sad 9 o'clock parade not at 9 o'clock anymore...stop changing MY DISNEY.....:upsidedow:upsidedow
5) LIKE new changes to overflow lot... lot almost EMPTY whole time we were there :dance3:

Probably a new kid that transferred from another resort. Was there anything in writing that stated this??

That's new - and I've not seen it actually stated anywhere. I'm with Carol - sounds like a newbie that doesn't actually know the real rules yet.

Oh here's hoping that's NOT just a rumor!!
:yay:

More good news there!

Ugh and ugh again. Some things NEVER change. :sad2:

Of interest...

All very interesting indeed!

Thanks for the "on the ground" reporting!

two additional notes I forgot to list:
1) Bathrooms in parks were atrocious... never seen them so bad in 30 years - worst one AT CITY HALL in MAGIC KINGDOM - absolutely filthy
2) "Welcome Home" greeting has been given to DVC resorts.... which explains not hearing it in a while....

Sorry- forgot this too: Cast who told us no smoking was from front desk at Ft. Wilderness when I incidently asked for an ashtray to be used on deck..... Hopefully was newbie - however someone at the pool told one of us that they were told the same and told second warning was asked to leave cabins:rolleyes:... beats me, but can't figure out how they could enforce this - especially at the campsites.......

When the no smoking policy was first instituted, I specifically wrote WDW and asked. I received an email back stating that smoking was permitted at individual campsites and on the porches of cabins. Did you see "designated smoking areas" in the cabin loops?? If not, then you can still smoke on the cabin decks. Disney will NEVER provide you with an ashtray. Bring your own!!!

they used to and were quite happy to do so, so as to not have people leaving their butts around.... as lately as last october they did.

Hmmmmmm

Will have to scour the rules this weekend and see if there really was a change

We were in a nice cabin this time (2100). You could tell it had been newly renovated. Ours from December (2200) was one of those that needed sprucing up. There is a big difference. They were fixing up a few of the cabins in the 2100 loop during our trip and 2 different groups of people came by to look at the furniture in our cabin and check it for refurb. There were some small scratches on our dining table and they said that was enough to mark it for replacement.

It's good to know they are continuing to work on them.

We're not smokers, but I saw a lot of people smoking on their decks this trip.

If someone will post back when they find out for sure about the smoking I would be most interested to know. My dad is traveling with us in October and while he is trying to stop smoking it is a long row to hoe, and sometimes he needs a fix. I assumed (dumb I know) that you could smoke on the decks, if this is not the case, I will need to prepare him for the awful truth and we might have a difficult 5 days at the World. pirate:
