I called this week and was able to get all 5 of the PS's that I wanted for our visit in late January. I know it helps alot that we are going in off-season (actually one of the best weeks to go). Anyways, I was so happy to even get Chef Mickey's for the time we wanted.

We have been at WDW the last two Januarys. I would say the only times I really was glad to have my PS' was Le Cellier and Chefs de France.
Otherwise they weren't even necessary -- even for Fantasmic.
But it is nice to have them -- just in case.

I just returned this past weekend. While I was there I was able to make a PS (same day) at Boma and Ohana at the times I wanted!

It's really slow there during the off season.

Having lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 7 years and having the 4 Seasons Salute pass for those 7 years we have been to Disney over 20 times and mainly in January. I am very aware that January is one of the slowest times, that is why we are going. I just like to not have to worry about reservations once I get there, even though I may not need them. Better to have them than to cry about it later.

I know how you feel. I obsessed over whether I should schedule our PS's ahead of time, or take a chance on getting a table on the same day. Since our schedule was not set in stone, we decided to chance it since I heard Sept was very slow.

It was really nice (a bit hot and humid though).

I've never been to WDW in January, but am considering going to take advantage of low rates (and low crowds).

How do you find the weather at that time? I have heard people say they need mittens!

It can get quite cold down here in January. Unlike summer, which is always hot, winter is unpredictable in FL. One day it will be in the mid 70's the next day it could be mid 40's.
