So if this is the wrong area, please point me in the right direction.

My brother suggested I post about where to run. We are going to Disney from 11/26-12/3 and staying at Port Orleans hotel.

I want to do a MINIMUM of 3 miles 3 days of that week preferably outside.

Anyone have suggestions??

TIA

I would call the resort directly and they should be able to fax you or email you a map of any jogging trails. I did read that there is a 1 mile jogging trail along the river at Port Orleans. I would think your best bet would be to call the resort to get a map. Good luck!

Anyplace outside of your resort will need to be driven to since they discourage running/walking on the side of the main roads that connect all the theme parks and resorts.

My husband has several routes that he takes. We'll stay at OKW and he can run around OKW and down to DTD and back. Or if we stay at SSR, he'll run SSR and over to DTD, maybe even over to OKW and back. Sometimes he'll include the sidewalks over by the DTD hotels.

Ft Wilderness has some good areas around the cabins and campsites. You can run from Disney Studios, past the Epcot resorts and up to the International Gateway at Epcot (and back). Over at the MK resorts, you can go from GF past the Wedding Pavilion, through Polynesian and over to the TTC (even adding some of the parking lot if you need additional distance0).

None of these will require running along the main roads, you just have to drive to the starting point.

The resorts won't fax or mail them to you. You have to pick them up at the front desk. Voice of experience. I had to get all of the maps myself or have friends get them for me:)

Keep in mind that there are 2 "Port Orleans" resorts -- Port Orleans Riverside (POR) and Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ). They are "sister" resorts connected by a path, but they have separate front desks, separate management, separate services, etc.

I remember when I was staying at POFQ ... I was waiting at a bus queue at Magic Kingdom. I was in the queue marked "Port Orleans French Quarter," and the one next to ours was labeled "Port Orleans Riverside." A lady asked me where the bus queue was for the "regular" Port Orleans. I explained the above to her, that there were 2 of them, and asked which one she was staying at. She got indignant and thought I was being a wise-a$$ or was being nitpicky or something. She was looking for a bus queue that didn't exist, all because she didn't believe me that there was only POR and POFQ and not a "plain" Port Orleans.

Just thought I might save you the bother than she had trying to get back to her room that night.

I have run in the early morning at POR. There have been times when I was "attacked" by very aggressive birds. They would fly from behind and hit their beaks into the back of my head. The birds looked like bluejays, except they were brown. This phenomenom has been mentioned before on these boards. If I slowed down to a walk, the birds stopped the aggessive behavior.
I do not remember what time of year. This was in the late 90s to 2000.
