Hi all,
I am not sure where to go for this but this seems like a pretty good place to gain some perspective given the diversity of the families on this board.
My DH and I are about 5 months out from a miscarriage and currently have no children. We have, from the time we were dating, talked about family and agreed very early on that adoption was a very real (and exciting) option for us. I decided to be pro-active and start researching adoption in our home state and OMG there is so much information my brain hurts! :confused3
So, has anyone here (and I'm sure there are quite a few who have) been through the adoption process? Did you use a state agency? Private agency? Religious based agency? Open? Closed? Semi-open? International? Domestic?
Personally I am thinking semi-open, domestic....and thats about all I know (that has made 100"% sense) right now.
I thought this brief search would help but I think it may have made me more confused. I don't know if this will be the path we walk down but I want as much information as I can get my little hands on early so if and when we make the decision we are confident in our direction.

Thanks!

I am very sorry for your loss

There is a thread on the dis with other woman struggling to get pregnant. I believe there are a couple of ladies on there who have adopted.

I have watched two of my closest friends struggle with fertility issues and my heart goes out to anyone who has struggles trying to conceive.

Hi there. We adopted our oldest from Russia. She was 6 months old at the time and is now 10, so it has been many years, but if this is an avenue you would like to pursue I am happy to try and steer you in the right direction.

We chose international for a variety of reasons, but mainly because I did NOT trust our state foster care system, I didn't want to "compete" with other families via private domestic adoption, and I wanted to ensure once the adoption was final it was FINAL with no chance of a birthparent changing their mind. Russia was by far the most stable program at the time (we were too young to adopt from China being only 29) so we chose that country and never looked back.

ADOPTION IS THE BEST MOST WONDERFUL THING EVER!!!!! God knew what he was doing leading us to her!
