I'm getting so confused! This was my origianl itinerary: March 3rd, fly into Orlando Int'l, rent a car and drive to Int'l drive to stay offsite for 2 nights. (Going to Orlando Zoo and Universal) Check into Pop Century after our long day at Universal on the 5th and check out on the 9th to take Disney Shuttle to our DREAM cruise for 4 nts, then on the 12th have to pay for shuttle or service to Orlando Int'l.

Then I started thinking(after I rec'd the new free dining offer) That we'd fly into Orlando Int'l on March 3rd, either rent a car for two days or arrange for shuttle from airport to Sanford, FL(zoo) then need another shuttle from Sanford to All Star Music on the 4th. Stay on site from the 4th to the 9th, but still want to go to Universal, so would need shuttle from hotel to US.

Comparing prices it just might be cheaper with option 2, it's just more confusing! We would be at US all day and have the DW meal plan, but I was thinking I could get sandwiches etc...and pack a picnic lunch to take?

Has anyone had a mixed up vacation like this? Would it be easier to just rent the car instead of relying on shuttles? I don't know what to do!

I would rent a car.
The cost for transportation from MCO to Sandford is going to run you $200 each way! At least that is what the cost is to go from Disney to Sanford airport.
So on the 3rd you need transportation from MCO to your hotel since you will have luggage that will need to be dropped off, then transportation from your hotel to the zoo. Then transportation from the Zoo back to your hotel. Then the next day you will need transportation from your hotel to Disney. My guess is this will be more than $200. So you would be better of to rent a car. If you rent a car from Budget you can drop the car off at the port when you take the Disney cruise. Budget has a rental counter not far from the ship and budget runs a non stop shuttle vans to the cruise ships. So they will take you for free to the ship after you drop off the car. We did this when we took our cruise and it was very easy.
