Not sure what to do about this need help:(

hello everyone i am not sure if this is the right place to be posting this -- however, for our sept trip my mom and grandma were coming a long with me and my Husband-- however-- this week we just found out that my grandpa has bladder cancer-- my grandma is afraid to leave him, and is thinking about cancelling her disney trip-- he has surgery July 18th, and doesn't get his report back untill July 25th-- the kicker is that our trip is due to be paid in full July 22nd-- does Disney let you have a extentision to pay your trip in full sometimes if i explaine the situation? Also -- can someone go in my grandmas place if she cannot go with us due to my grandpas health? Can you just change the name on the reservations, my grandma does have the trip ins -- i am not sure if that makes any difference-- please give me any advice on what to do for this situation-- my family is really confusing on how to go about the trip--thanks so much for your help!!

Did you book thru Disney directly, or thru a travel agent? I would just call whoever you booked thru and explain the situation and they'll tell you your options. I am sure it wouldn't be a problem to put someone else in Grandma's place. Not sure about extending the payment due date, though. Disney is very accomodating though...I'm sure they'll take care of you. Good luck to Grandpa!

First, sending much love & prayers out ot your family. focus on them first.
How many rooms do you guys have reserved? If all 4 of you are in the same room then the situation is a lot easier. Really just a matter of letting them know who will or will not be available.
Even if you have to pay in full, I think you have a 30 day cancellation policy working in your favor. I may be wrong but hopefully some other disser will correct me.

Yes we booked through Disney Directly and also have 2 rooms-- thanks so much for your help-- i willl try calling them later today to see what they say :)
 

Disney will say "we can't extend the final payment date"

But..... they will not automatically cancel your reservation if you don't pay on the final payment date. They don't start canceling until the 30 day mark. Since there is money already on the booking, they have to contact you with a reminder and then one more time before they cancel it.
 
Her best option is to call Disney to see this way it straight from the "mouse" mouth. :lmao: We all can say Disney will not cancel if not all paid for by final date but it is run by computer now & they can spit it out. Never know what will happen. Better to call & see what happens. She does have trip insurance so even if she had to cancel she can use the trip insurance. Should be ok to change the name as long as Disney has enough time.
 
I would call them and see what they say. I doubt they will extend your payoff date, but they will give you some insight on cancelling or changing people included in your party.

I don't know the answer to your question about your Disney reservation, but I do want to extend encouragement to your family and send my prayers your way also. My dad was dx with bladder cancer 4yrs ago. He ended up having his bladder removed and a new one created out of his intestines! Who knew they did such things? I recomend a second opinion because dad's 1st doctor didn't mention anything about this option and only offered bladder removal with a pouch to collect urine. My dad is very active and proud. I know this would have been a death sentence for him. His doctor says not everyone is a candidate for this option and that most urologists don't have experience with this. I pray your dad will have a great outcome like mine did.
