I personally didn't much care for the wheat hotdog buns that Disney changed to in order to "offer a healthier menu". :rolleyes1 Yesterday, we stopped in at Casey's for a hotdog break anyway, more or less out of tradition and found that the buns are now a white bread bun. It's huge and it had a thick bread bottom underneath. It was tasty, soft and fresh, but it was a little too much bun for the dog they serve, if you are not dressing up the dog with slaw, chili or kraut. It's ok though, we saved a lot of the excess bread and used it to feed the ducks with after we left the dining area.

So, if anyone is looking for a reason to give Casey's another try since the bad dry wheat buns were introduced, now is the time! :thumbsup2

PS: Please take note that we did not feed the birds in the restaurant area. We took the bread to another area away from food vendors and fed the ducks and other birds there, so as to not invite animal behavioral issues.

Yeah! I hope the hamburger buns around the world have changed as well! I dont mind wheat but those things were dry and crumbly! Blech!

The buns have been that way for a few months now, ever since they added the specialty dogs.

Personally, I like the new ones better. They don't fall apart like the old wheat buns. I also did what you did - I ripped off some of the bread on the edges so it didn't overwhelm the dog.

I hate when people do this in threads and pick at something the person said when it has nothing to do with the thread, but you REALLY are not supposed to feed the birds at Disney. Please never do this again. It makes them aggressive towards the other guests. There are signs posted all over the place to not feed the birds.

:woohoo::dance3: Hopefully this is the new trend! No more rolls that fall apart before the sandwich is gone!!!!! :cool1:

Glad you liked the change in buns, too bad you are creating agressive wildlife with the excess.

Well, I guess me qualifying my remarks didn't help, but notice the bolded statement.

We walked to area near the bridge that goes between the hub and Liberty Square to feed the ducks and other birds. We do not feed the birds near the restaurant areas. I have read the signs. I am an adult that knows enough about animal behavior to realize that feeding the birds near tables where humans are trying to eat only invites agressive animal behavior. So, please let's get back to the buns. Thanks.

You are not supposed to feed the birds ANYWHERE. You think the ducks that hang out in one area of the park one day aren't the ones by tables the next? They move around, you know. They even fly.

Obviously you don't know as much about animal behavior as you claim.

Yep you are not suppose to feed the birds anywhere.

I thought this post was about buns. Drives me nuts when people take threads off topic.

So post that in the don't feed the birds post, where it's ON TOPIC.

I don't think it's off topic. OP said she fed the birds; because the OP mentioned it, it's open for comment. Plus, we don't want any newbies to see it and think it's an awesome idea to use leftover bun to feed the ducks, because it's not.

Will they give you an extra bun to whack the aggressive birds away with? ;)

I think you mean an "extra bun with which you may whack the aggressive birds".

If you want to split hairs go ahead. The OP was referring to BREAD! Not PC behavior.

That is good news! I heard so many bad things about the crumbly buns, even though I don't remember them. Two of my sons love hot dogs. These days on the DDP, what comes with the hot dog? (Adult and kids meals)
