Not sure if asked, but how do you feel about no tip included...

in the dining plan now?? I thought it was easier but there may be some servers who did not care how they treated us because they were getting a tip reguardless of good services.

While I liked that the tip was included especially when I've had the free DDP I still prefer to choose how much a server is to be tipped based upon their performance. Since no one is really sure what their tips were based on for the DDP (total bill, or a set amount per meal) you have to wonder what their motivation for good service is toward the DDP participants. If their tips were based on what your total bill was they were very generously rewarded. If it was based on a set amount per person per meal they have no incentive to give good service. Honestly I had better service when using DDP than I've gotten when I pay out of pocket. I have also been know to leave an extra tip if I felt we had exceptional service when gratuities were already included.

It's so much more convenient having the 18% already included. I see it as a baseline amount and tip above that for good service.
I would think that the servers would prefer the 18% already included too...I know LOTS of cheap people who tip very little when left to their own resources!
