not sharing, but swapping

Our 10 year old is a Disney adult now. She's so thrilled! However, she does not eat red meat, only barbeque chicken or nuggets, the occasional turkey. Lots of salads and peanut butter, no jelly. Our 3 year old however, loves everything.

Therefore, most of our TS's are buffets, just so she can get something she will eat. However, we have a few I am concerned about. Even some of the CS places don't have anything on the adult menu she will eat. I know sharing is not okay, but what about swapping? Our "baby" would eat what we order for big girl, and vice versa? I don't see that as wrong, b/c we paid for both, not trying get something for free, just using what we have already paid for???

Thanks everyone. (please no flames. I hate controversy. That's why I asked)

Are you on the dining plan? If you are paying OOP you can order your 10 year old anything she wants. My dd was 5 foot 7 and 13 on our last trip, and ordered off the kids menu more than once at table service, not a problem. And at CS anyone can order from the kids menu very easily.

As long as you paid for the meal, I don't see a problem with it.

My little sister has a younger food like and she's ten as well. Most places (where we wern't on the dining plan) let her order off of the children's menu for the children's price when we asked about it. We wern't breaking any rules, and all of the servers looked like this was a pretty standard question.

At the places were we did dine with the DP we had her order something (pretty much the safest thing on the menu) or we would order it plain, etc... some places were willing to "make up" and adult size chicken nuggets, etc... and charge it as a TS meal.

Some places we simply ordered an additional kid's meal OOP for her to eat, and the rest of the adults split her entree.

We do it all the time. My youngest is allergic to dairy and sometimes there is nothing he can eat. We swap with him, or everyone gives him a little of theirs. He also has bigger taste than some kids and prefers something off of the adult menu, especially appetizers so I let him have mine and I take his. I don't like to eat much at Disney(that is the only place. lol) so it really isn't a big deal for me to let him have mine and I just take his.

DD and I have done this. She's 9, and starting to want to try more different things. I feel bad that she's always stuck ordering off the kids' menu, so lots of times I'll order the entree or dessert she'd like to try as my meal, then we share or trade. I just don't like her feeling like she can only have certain things while I can get whatever my heart desires -- so we take turns having whatever we like!

Yes, you can exchange the food. They don't care which of the party actually eats it as long as it is paid for correctly (on DDP, kids credits for kids meals)

My 19 year old has significant developmental delay. He still has some immature food interests and also just loves anything shaped like Mickey, plates, pancakes, food containers...lol, you name it. Many times during our last several trips on the dining plan he was allowed to order off the children's menu. We always offered up front to pay OOP when we asked but most servers seemed to indicate that an adult ordering off the kids menu wasn't an issue. I assumed it was because the meals were much cheaper this way. In the reverse is probably where you'd encounter problems.

It appears to make no difference whether or not an adult orders off the kids menu, DDP or not (you'd just pay an adult credit for the kids meal), but if you're spending a child's credit you have to order off the child's menu. It should be perfectly OK for an adult to swap meals with a child as long as the child's credit was used to pay for a child's meal. The OP wants to have the older kid order an adult meal, the younger one order a child's meal, and the two swap meals. This is fine, as the child's credit is being used to pay for a child's meal.

BTW, at the buffets ANYONE can eat ANYTHING!...Children are not relegated to children's selections only, and vice versa.

...I've seen many adults going for the Mickey shaped pastas....YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
