Not optimistic but at least I've joined the party!

I've just started my first contract for OKW DVW through TSS. I don't know why, when I researched everything else, I didn't research ROFR until now (I thought it had to do with credit) but after reading a few threads and the list that someone has posted about what has passed and what has not, I'm not very optimistic about passing. (40pts OKW at $86 pp). But strangely enough I feel like I've joined that party in purchasing DVC! If not this one there will be another. Once item I wanted to make sure of is if we don't pass DVC, there is no permanent marker on us as potential buyers. (example, OH they failed ROFR last time lets flag them again).

Thanks!

I would question if disney sees your name or not as they are aproving the current owner of the points to sell at a particuliar amount. ROFR= right of fisrt refusal --isuppose you know this if not.. and it is Disneys right to purchase a contract if they feel the owner is selling it a to low of a price.

No, there's no "stigma" attached to failing to pass ROFR - as the previous poster said, it's a matter between the seller and Disney, not you specifically. But it would be in your best interest to do a little reading and make sure your next offer is competitve, if you don't pass ROFR this time, so you can go ahead and get your contract finalized!!!!!!!

Anthony,
are you saying that Disney might use their ROFR power on the basis of who the buyer is? Meaning, if you were talking to a Disney rep about buying, and then they see your name as a buyer on a resale contract? Then not let it go thru?

Thanks

I totally agree. :goodvibes I'm just browsing other contracts available through TSS now, to see what's available that fits our price range (don't want to finance). I'll definitely go for at least 100 pts next time, if this one doesn't pass. When I was going through that spreadsheet there were a FEW similar to mine that passed, and they were not current members. I'm hoping if there are no wait lists, and with a little pixie dust, mine might squeek by (like a mouse HAHA), if not I'm prepared to start over a little wiser next time.

The ROFR thread is apparently not being updated any longer. I went back through the last 10 pages or so and was not able to find the updated list, so I guess whoever was doing that got burned out.

However, your offer is far enough above what I remember of the OKW prices to have a chance of passing. In addition to your price being reasonably high, I suspect DVC already has a bunch of OKW points and won't ROFR there as aggressively as they might elsewhere. If you get ROFR'd, I think it would be just because they want to get small contracts out of their system. Hopefully it will go through.

I do not think Disney knows who the buyer is period as this is something between the seller and Disney
Could what you are saying be possible sure but I doubt it is
Disney wants to make $$ and weather you buy it Private or through them they are getting thire dues and a lot more for park tickets and food
I think you are looking at this in the wrong way
You will also always have guide when you own DVC even if you did not speak to one before you buy a private contract

I think $86 sounds reasonable for OKW also,
I am waiting to hear back and I offered $85
I saw many OKW contracts going for less than $80 on the resale pages

I guess you just never know what they will decide!

My SIL bought an OKW contract back in February for $78 per point. I would think $86 per point has a great chance of passing.

Best of luck. Lots of pixie dust coming your way!!! pixiedust: pixiedust:

Deleware Mike posted that he was going to be away on holidays and asked if anyone could cover offering them to PM him and he'd set them up with the details,,I guess no one offered (unfortunately I not computer savey enough to do this. )
He did an excellent job and I'd hate to see his work go to waste. All his time and effort is really appreciated by all of us new people interested in buying into dvc.
hugs mel

I was messing around on the internet one night and found another site. There is someone on it with the screen name Delaware Mike and he posted that he would keep up with pricing for ROFR. His signature had a qoute something like this, (not exact) "I wasn't asked to leave the other board, I left". I don't know him or anything about him, but by having a signature like that I don't know if I would assume he is coming back to keep that thread updated.
