My family and I aren't really into musicals especially my kids. After dinner (on the dream) my husband and I were gonna attempt the shows without the kids. But if there was one show more kid orientated which one would it be?

Is the aquaduck still open after the first dinner seating?

Thank!

The Dream has:

Believe
Golden Mickeys
Villains Tonight

Well, personal preference varies greatly with everyone but my personal favorite out of the three is Golden Mickey's. It is a take on an Awards show. Some find it cheesy but I love the movie songs and acts that are in it.

Hated Villains Tonight (and I love the Disney Villains)! Just found it boring and no real story line.

Believe is cute.

My honest answer is to give the shows a try with your kids unless you know for sure they will hate them. You may be surprised.

I guess it depends on their age which one they might like best. GM and Believe have many popular and well known Disney songs and scenes.

Villains is all about the Disney villains and is more dark and loud.

I agree with MJ.

1. Golden Mickeys
2. Believe
3. Villains Tonight

Yep. Count me in with Shmoo and MMouse. I love both Golden Mickeys and Believe but for me Golden has the edge. Both are charming. DH even loves the shows! I know you say you guys aren't into musicals, but just curious…..first how old are the kids? And secondly, do they watch any Disney movies? How 'bout Frozen? I mean, there's a LOT of songs in Disney movies! I've yet to meet a young child that watches Disney movies that doesn't have some of those songs down pat. :cutie: My 2 tiny grand-princesses have been on 2 DCL cruises and love, love, LOVED the shows!! Give them a try, and then you will know if they are for you and yours. I think you will be surprised….. :flower3:

Here are my opinions. Believe is cute 1 time. I did not enjoy the Golden Mickey's at all, I almost got up and left and was so bored the entire time. I loved Villains, at least it was interesting to me. But again, different kicks for different ppl!

I agree with the first 3 replies. I love classic Disney songs and The Golden Mickeys is such an amazing celebration of the best. On the other hand, if you are not a fan of the music, I could see why some people would hate it. Believe is a very sweet story for both parents and children so that would be my recommendation to the OP. Villains Tonight falls in between and it was also my least favorite.

My kiddos are 8 and 4. My daughter(the youngest) is obsessed with all things Disney Princess. My son is older and into more Star Wars and real Disney shows (thundermans, Henry danger) and less and less into the movies or cartoon shows. My hubby and I do not really love musicals, but we really liked Wicked and Hairspray.

We aren't show people. I've seen, what?, 2. Maybe 3 over DCL 6 cruises and none on my other cruises. The only one I even kind of liked was Toy Story and that's because my kids and I LOVE Toy Story. We took the kids to one other show and they couldn't sit still (they were 5 and 8 at the time and were perfectly able to sit still during events they find entertaining). The problem was we aren't Disney movie people, so they had no context for the stuff happening on stage, whereas we ARE Pixar people. So everything Pixar-related was a hit.
There's plenty to do besides shows. My kids usually swim or go to the clubs. So, give one a try if you want. But if you and your family don't enjoy it, don't waste your time on shows. Do something you know you DO enjoy.

If you're going to try them, sit at the back, at an aisle. Just in case.

Villains was OK, but I knew very few of the characters. GMs has no plot or discernable storyline IMO, and I didn't enjoy it in any way. DH and DS won't "let" me see Believe beause they say it's even worse (in the ways I found GM to be bad) than GM.

I like some musicals, and someday I might have to see them again as DS dances, but I did NOT like the ones on Dream.

I have the exact same opinions as MJ and Shmoo. I'm a HUGE fan of the Villains. (I've dressed up as two of them on two separate occasions for Halloween) but I just couldn't get behind Villains. I thought it was...stupid. I loved Golden Mickey's and Believe was great as well. Maybe a little corny, but in a cute way and I got something in both my eyes at the end. It must have been a little dusty in there...

Golden Mickeys has a wide variety of songs from the Disney movies. Maybe you'll find something you like. The special effects -- Disney style -- sets their shows apart from other cruise lines.

That said, we do get tired of the same shows. Seeing the Golden Mickeys three times was too many -- guess that comment belongs in the "sailed many cruises do you think you are bored" thread.

We were bored with Golden Mickey and we found Believe to be better. My kids and husband loved Villians because they found it to be humorous and different.

Last year, the Aquaduck was open after first dining. But I read in more recent threads that the pool/slides have been closing earlier. So you may want to research this. The aquaduck at night is pretty fun- lights up and goes much faster it seems.

I am a fan of "real" musical theatre but the Disney shows are cheesy beyond belief, once is quiet enough to watch them and even that was a push.

I like the Disney shows for the most part. There's only one I will never see again, and a couple that I think once may be enough. Golden Mickeys and Dreams - I'm not tired of them yet.

Actually the show on the first night where they have the acts come out would be really good for the kids, as for the other shows we really don't feel they are geared towards the younger children, it really depends on the kids attention span and what their interests are. If there favorite disney movie matches up with a show they will probably like it.

I couldn't agree more! (I think we are in the minority though). I did enjoy the magician show on the Dream this past June and much prefer going to see a movie over a show. I wish they would do a broadway style Disney show instead (something abbreviated without intermission). We saw Villains on the Dream and maybe Wishes? on the Fantasy and it was just not my cup of tea!
